View Full Version : Navy/White Bouquet - I Made It!

I finally found a site that had excellent pix of navy/white bouquets, but when I went to purchase one, the site said that the item was temporarily unavailable. I waited for about two weeks, but still no change in status.
Sooooooooo, I decided to make my own. I started with a white bouquet that I bought at Old Time Pottery, then I bought a navy bouquet at Hobby Lobby. I snipped all of the stems from the blue one and strategically placed them in the larger white bouquet. Viola! It's exactly what I wanted and I made it with my own hands! :D

Thanks, Kelly! You may have noticed the announcements in the background. I made those as well. There's a post in the DIY invitations forum.
I think I've found my creative groove and I'm on a roll! I love making things with my own hands - most of the time. :)
I'll post ceremony pix after the big day. :D

My list is dwindling. I need to finish the announcements; they're handmade, so it takes a lot of time. I took a one week break from wedding crafts and fell behind. Most of the announcements are one-of-a-kind, because I try something new each time I put one together. I think I should save a sample of each design for my scrapbook, but of course that would mean creating nearly twice as many. (Maybe I should just take pix.) One of the reasons that many are one-of-a-kind is because I'm using rub-ons to design the outside flap and most rub-on packets only come with one of each design. Well, and I keep changing the ribbon application and color. LOL!
Yesterday, I booked the cabin and finalized the wedding options at the chapel. I still need to:
buy a gift and greeting card for FH
buy my pantyhose (small "to do", but still has to be done)
apply for the license
get FH's boutonniere (Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays, so I'm going to take care of this today)
buy two sets of lingerie (one white for wedding night and one other set for my alterego LOL!)
go to two more hair appointments before the big day
buy and print clear address labels
track down the final 20 or so mailing addresses (and complete names in some cases)
buy special wedding postage stamps - local post office doesn't have them; may need to get online
buy spa gift cards for FH's grandmother and aunt who will take care of our children while we're away
thoroughly clean the house before FH's grandmother comes to stay; not an easy task, since it's a rather large house - we have a family of sixI had an appointment to let a Mary Kay consultant (who is also my Sunday school classmate) show me how foundation could keep my face from being shiny, but I cancelled that. I HATE makeup and don't believe in it, but I thought I'd deal with it for one day, so that my wedding pix don't come out shiny. Well, FH didn't like the idea AT ALL; he said he loves my "glow". Hmm, OK. LOL! In the end, I don't like makeup and he doesn't want me to "change", so this is one less thing that I need to do. :D
In regards to work, I need catch up and work ahead - I'll have less free time to work on wedding stuff because of this. Budget season will begin in early August (while I'm away), so I need to do as much as I can before the weddingmoon. I'm taking my laptop, but will only respond to urgent requests. FH is doing the same.
Despite the list of outstanding tasks, I'm as happy as I can be!
SORRY FOR THE LONG POST! :O)

Oops, I forgot to add that my youngest son's 10th birthday is on July 27th, so we're throwing him a laser tag/miniature golf party. The evites went out yesterday. I need to buy the gifts and order the cake.

Thanks! I'll post pix (with headshots) if I like the way I end up wearing my hair. It's shorter than I'd like (I had to get it cut recently - took off 2 inches in the front and about 4 in the back and on the sides), so I'm not sure how I'll wear it. I think my hair is stressing me out more than anything. :irked:
Thanks again and have a blessed weekend!

Not many Brides think of this. But i did and i'm chuffed to bits i got what i wanted.

I had such a hard time chosing what to get i posted it on here lol.

That's a Certain.

Is that your Evil Twin LOL

Ahh time to be pampered.

Is that a necessary expense?

Sure glad i've got a small Family.
buy special wedding postage stamps - local post office doesn't have them; may need to get online
Wont "Oridinary" Stamps do? Do the Wedding Ones cost more?
buy spa gift cards for FH's grandmother and aunt who will take care of our children while we're away
That is a lovely Gift that they will both enjoy.
thoroughly clean the house before FH's grandmother comes to stay; not an easy task, since it's a rather large house - we have a family of six
That job is a Busmans Holiday for me. I Clean for a Living then come home to more. If i lived nearer i would have helped you out there.
You probably typed all that out then sat back and had a bit of a Panic. But in the scheme of things that list is do-able. I haven't even written down what needs to be done for my Wedding yet. Got enough to worry about at the moment.

He has expensive taste and is hard to shop for, so this is going to drive me crazy! His gifts must be practical/usable. *sigh*

Oh, no! I hope I don't run into an issue with this.

This will be turned over to FH; we can complete a pre-application online.

Yep!
buy two sets of lingerie (one white for wedding night and one other set for my alterego LOL!)

Yep, good thing for me that FH likes both sides of me.

Yes, but I miss my permanent hairdresser/great friend. I moved 120 miles away and commuted twice/month to get my hair done (for over 2 years), but gas costs too much these days to keep up that driving habit.
buy and print clear address labels
Is that a necessary expense?
Probably not, so if I run out of time, I'll print the addresses directly onto the envelopes.
track down the final 20 or so mailing addresses (and complete names in some cases)
Sure glad i've got a small Family.
My family is rather large, but I have most addresses. FH's family is the problem.
buy special wedding postage stamps - local post office doesn't have them; may need to get online
Wont "Oridinary" Stamps do? Do the Wedding Ones cost more?
It's a cute touch and the stamps are the same price. I can order them online from the Postal Service for just $1 shipping. Yippee! It would cost more in gas to get to the P.O. Ha! Your thoughs, however, are FH's exactly! He doesn't understand all the fuss.
buy spa gift cards for FH's grandmother and aunt who will take care of our children while we're away
That is a lovely Gift that they will both enjoy.
We sure hope so!

Aww. My mom loves cleaning, too, but she lives 500 miles away. Our children are ages 8-12, so they will certainly help to make this task a bit easier. Grandma will just have to live with whatever doesn't get done.

I didn't start out with a list, but last week, I made a mental note about how much I'd left undone (hadn't even booked the cabin yet), so I jotted it onto a sticky note. I was worried that I'd miss something important, but so far, so good!
*Ping* *Ping* *Ping* There grows the Grey Hair
You can say that again. It's been six weeks since my last hair color treatment, so I'm due. My next hair appointment is on the 25th, so I'll only have to deal with the grays for a few more days. (Hey, that rhymed!)
I'm heading out to Hobby Lobby now. Have an excellent weekend!

I have about 6 weeks worth of greys too ladies. Mine grows in a big streak right infront of my head. Whatcha say we add hair dye party to the list? I do my own, but you all go do yours however and then we'll post pics. LOL.

I went Grey when i was 22 and i've been dyeing it ever since :bbeek:
When i turned 28 i lost most of my hair on the Left Hand side through stress of my Dad nearing Death. And when it grew back it was more Grey than ever before. I did grow the roots out to about 4 inches then chopped all my hair off back to the Grey to give it a rest from Dye. But i soon hit the Colour Bottle again.
It'll be Bright Red for the Wedding :D

I've had grays since I was 18; it runs in the family. When I hit 30 or so, they started popping up like daisies. I let my hairdresser talk me into getting color after a year of her recommending it and haven't stopped coloring since. Six weeks is the MAX that I can go before I start looking 10 years my senior.
I will be sporting a fresh reddish/brown dye job for the wedding, because my color will be touched up 3 days beforehand. :D

buy a gift and greeting card for FH - check for the gift, but can't find a card from bride to groom to save my life! Everything is to the couple, but nothing is from one to the other. *sigh* I may have to make one. See below for a picture of the gift that I bought. I had our first names and wedding date engraved on it.
buy my pantyhose (small "to do", but still has to be done) - check!
get FH's boutonniere - check!
buy two sets of lingerie - check!
go to two more hair appointments before the big day - one down, one to go!
buy and print clear address labels - check!
track down the final 20 or so mailing addresses (and complete names in some cases) - check! well, for most people. The others took too long to respond to FH's request for info.
I haven't done any of the following; I leave home in a week
buy special wedding postage stamps - local post office doesn't have them; may need to get online
buy spa gift cards for FH's grandmother and aunt who will take care of our children while we're away
thoroughly clean the house before FH's grandmother comes to stay
