View Full Version : The nerve of some men! A rant.

So the other day I drove my car into the back of someone else's car at a set of lights. Yeah. Not my proudest moment . Anyway, I was having this back and forth phone conversation with the people at the towing company about where my car should go- they wanted to take it to a mechanic that I think is a little dodgy, so I was telling them to please bring the car to my house, so FH could take it wherever he wanted to when he got home. Then he says this to me:
"How about you give me your dad's phone number, and I'll give him a call and see what he thinks?"
:irked: What?! My DAD? Am I 6? Is the year 1912? Gah, I'm angry all over again just remembering it! Seriously, what made him think it was ok to ask to speak to my dad? I'm 25!
THE NERVE OF SOME MEN!

how about your foot talk to his a$$? :D
I don't know how some men make it out the bed and dress themselves let alone drive a truck.

Ah, I really wouldn't have taken offense to it at all. In truth, maybe you just look youthful, and he didn't realize you're as old (not that 25 is old  ) as you are. Don't sweat it, I don't think there was anything actually sexist or bad about it... I'd take it as a compliment that you apparently look young for your age!

I'm sorry! Some men just don't think before they start talking. My fh has some friends that are like that. I will be working on my laptop when they come over and they're like "What are you doing" "I'm working on my homework" Then the stupid idiots-almost every time-will be like "You go to school?" I get so frustrated! I'm in college and most of the time when this happens, I think to myself, "Yeah, I told you this last time you were here and you freaked out then, too!" I get really offended that they are that surprised a woman is in college...it's really not that hard to believe a woman can be in college these days!

Depending on the tone and attitude of the guy when he said it, I might have been slightly offended by that remark too. But I wouldn't let it bother me so much after the fact; some men are just stupid and think women can't think for themselves :p Or I would have come back at him with a "Look, just do what I ask and STFU" ;)
But we shouldn't give these men "power" over us by letting such stupidity get you down; if anything, just be that much stronger from it and prove to the next one that you are not some "little woman" ;)

Bah, stuff like that really annoys me. My friend's mom was car shopping a few years ago by herself and when it came time to decide the salesman said "Well, why don't you go get your husband and bring him back so we can complete the sale." Ha! Needless to say, she took her business elsewhere.

Ha, I suppose I should just take it as a compliment. It was just so random though! I haven't lived with my parents for years, so it just came from no where as I far as I was concerned. I think it irks me because as I've mentioned in another thread, my FH works out of town (2 weeks away, 1 week home, repeat) so I've had to become very independant, and was feeling all proud of myself for dealing with the accident on my own...then this guy wants to talk to my dad.

That seems like a rather rude comment he made. Some men seem to think that women can't deal with anything regarding cars. (Of course, I'm one of the ones that proves them right, but that's beside the point.) My friend walked into an auto parts store (I think that's what it was) and felt very uncomfortable 'cause they were all staring at her like she didn't belong there.
I've had age comments, like people thinking I'm anywhere from 14 to 19, when I'm actually 24. I figure that'll be nice when I'm older and want to look younger. I was rather offended once when I got carded at a movie, and my ex did not... the clerk said she needed to see both IDs but never asked for his.

I dress myself just fine, and I'm a porfesional trucker besides a minister.
But then again I'm not the typical guy.

I probably would've asked him for his mother's number so I could inform her of what a sexist jerk he was.
And then I would've waited another three hours for a different towing company as he sped away.
