I picked Leanne Womack I hope you dance" let me know if u think its a good song for father/daughter dance
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

This is the song I'm using:
"Daughters" John Mayer
I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
But she's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change
And I've done all I can
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me
Fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Oh, you see that skin?
It's the same she's been standing in
Since the day she saw him walking away
Now she's left
Cleaning up the mess he made
So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Boys, you can break
You'll find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong
And boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without the warmth from
A womans good, good heart
On behalf of every man
Looking out for every girl
You are the god and the weight of her world
So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too [x3]

I need help there. My step father is walking me, and has only been in our lived for about 6 years. I have only been around him for 3 of those years. He makes my mother happy, and treats me and my son as his own. Any ideas on what I can use??

I think I Hope you Dance works well. I haven't thought of that one. The song to me is about wishing you well on all your endevors and telling you to take risks and get out there and live your life. It reminds me personally of when I was a senior in high school. They played that on graduation day during the slide show or something.

I am going to use Dance With My Father-by Luther Vandross
Back when I was a childBefore life removed all the innocenceMy father would lift me highAnd dance with my momma and me and thenSpin me around till I fell, fell asleepThen up the stairs he would carry meAnd I knew for sure, I was loved. If I could get another chanceAnother walk, another dance with himI'd play a song that would never ever endHow I'd love, love, love to dance with my father again. When I and my momma would disagreeTo get my way I would run from her to himHe'd make me laugh just to comfort me (ooh)And finally make me do just what my mother saidLater that night when I was asleepHe left a dollar under my sheetNever dreamed that he would be gone from me.If I could steal one final glance,One final step, one final dance with himI'd play a song that would never ever end'Cause I'd love, love, love to dance with my father again.Sometimes I'd listen outside her doorAnd I'd hear my momma cry for himI'd pray for her even more than meI'd pray for her even more.I know I'm praying for much too muchBut could you send back the only man she lovedI know you don't do it usuallyBut dear Lord, she's dying to dance with my father again.Every night I fall asleepAnd this is all I ever dream...

Dad and I are using this. We both LOVE Billy Joel and I happen to have always loved this song. When it was released somewhere in the early 90's I knew it was going to be my dance song at my wedding.
Lullabye (goodnight my angel)
Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be

If I were to have a daddy daughter dance, I would use "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allen or "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney. Everytime I hear those songs, they hit real close to home -- I think they are beautiful songs. I have told my brother to have "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" by Steve Wariner on hand, because if it rains, that song will be played (and everyone will cry...).

I think Nicholas is going to use Tough Little Boys to dance with my 6 yr daughter to. I need to find a song I can dance with my 4 yr old son. I want to make this as much about them as I can.

I just heard the most beautiful song! It's called "My Little Girl" and it's by Tim McGraw and it just came out on his new Greatest Hits 2 CD! Here's the lyrics:
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go
Gonna tell you how much I love you though you think you already know
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm
You’ve had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born
You beautiful baby from the outside in
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again
Go on take on this old world but to me you know you will always be
My little girl
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile would melt my heart of stone
Now look at you I’ve turned around and you’ve almost grown
Sometimes your asleep I whisper I love you in the moonlight at your door
As I walk away I hear you say “daddy love you more”
You beautiful baby from the outside in
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again
Go on take on this old world but to me you know you will always be
My little girl
Someday some boy will come and ask me for your hand
But I won’t say yes to him unless I know
He’s the half that makes you whole
He has a poets soul
And the heart of a mans man
I know he’ll say that he’s in love, but between you and me
He won’t be good enough
You beautiful baby from the outside in
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again
Go on take on this old world but to me you know you will always be
My little girl
Kind of makes me wish I could have a Daddy-Daughter dance. You guys hold on special tight to your dads for me ok!

Those are all beautiful songs. My father and I finally decided what we were going to dance to:
KELLY OSBOURNE
"Changes"
(feat. Ozzy Osbourne)
[Kelly:]
I feel unhappy
I am so sad
I lost the best friend
That I've ever had
[Ozzy:]
She is my baby
I love her so
But it's too late now
I've let her go
[Both:]
We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus])
We're going through changes (ahh - [chorus])
[Kelly:]
We've shared the years
We've shared each day
I love you daddy
But I found my way
[Ozzy:]
You know the world
Is an evil place
My baby is grown now
She's found her way
[Both:]
(ohh ahh - [Chorus])
We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus])
We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus])
(ahh - [Chorus])
[Kelly:]
It took so long
To realize
I can still hear
His last goodbyes
[Ozzy:]
Now all my days
I'm filled in fears
Wish I could go back
And change the years
[Both:]
We're going through changes
We're going through changes (changes - [Chorus])
We're going through... Changes
[Both:]
Changes
Changes
Changes...

I'm having a hard time myself with this. I like a few songs, but I can't really decide.
1. Butterfly Kisses-Bob Carlisle
2. You're Gonna Be- Reba McEntire
3. Then They Do-Trace Adkins
I really like the song by Reba... I just can't make up my mind! :bbrazz:

i think u can think a gain and try to select another song what a bout:
My Girl By: Temptations
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it's cold outside
I've got the month of May
I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way
My girl my girl my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
my girl
I've got so much honey
The bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song
Than the birds in the tree
Well I guess you say
What can make me feel this way
My girl My girl my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
Yeah Yeah
I don't need no money
Fortune or fame
I've got all the riches Baby
One man can claim
Well I guess you say
What can make me feel this way
It's my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
With my girl, I even got the month of May
My girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
Talkin' 'bout
Talkin' 'bout
My girl My Girl
--------
OR THIS ONE

Daddy's Little Girl By: Al Martino
And you're Daddy's Little Girl
You're the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You're Daddy's Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You're Mommy's Bright and shining star.
You're the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You're the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me.
You're sugar
You're spice
You're everything nice
and you're Daddy's Little Girl.
You're the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You're Daddy's Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You're Mommy's Bright and shining star.
You're the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You're the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me
You're sugar
You're spice
You're everything nice
and you're Daddy's Little Girl.

I've decided to go with MY Wish by Rascal Flatts:
I hope that days come easy and moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you want to go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
and if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
if it's cold outside,
show the world the warmth of your smile,
more then anything, more then anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more then you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
all the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and you always give more then you take.
Oh More then anything, Yeah, and more then anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it,
to your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more then you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

That is still a good idea, in a sense.
i was just going to suggest it...I sent it to my dad (when it came out) for father's day and he loved it! If you want to use it Heather do it, all everyone is going to hear is "He didn't have to be" and tears will roll!

My daddy and I are dancing to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses"...
There's two things I know for sure
She was sent here from Heaven
And she's daddys little girl
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes
And I thank God for all of the joy in my life
Oh but most of all
For butterlfy kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk beside the pony dady
It's my first ride
I know the cake looks funny daddy
But i sure tried
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
TO deseve a hug every mornin
And butterfly kisses at night
Sweet 16 today
She's lookin like her mama
A little more every day
One part woman
The other part girl
To perfume and mke up
From ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world
But I remember
Butterlfy kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
You know how much I love you dady
But if you don't mind
I'm only gonna kiss you on the check this time
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I muct have done something right
To deserve her love every mornin
And butterfly kisses at night
All the precious time
Like the wind the years go by
Precious Butterfly
Spread yuor wings and fly
She'll change her name today
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away
Standing in the bride room just starin at her
She asked me what I'm thinkin
And I said I'm not sure
I just feel like I'm loosin my baby girl
And she leaned over
And gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk me down the isle daddy
It's just about time
Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?
Daddy don't cry
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
To deserve her love every mornin and butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask God for more than this, this is what love is
I know I've got to let her go but I'll always remember
Every hug in the mornin and butterly kisses at night
