I know there's a similar thread to this about low-budget honeymoon destinations, but I didn't want to hijack that thread. Anyway, my fh and I are looking for a low-budget honeymoon destination. We can stay at any hilton or hilton-owned hotel because fh's parents own a hilton timeshare and they said they'd let us use it for the honeymoon, so lodging is taken care of, but we have to fund all the other expenses ourselves. A cruise is not for us since I get sea-sick. A nice beach is a big plus. Ideally, I would love to go to either Curacao or the Bahamas, but I realize that will probably be too expensive. So maybe somewhere in Florida, but not Orlando. Any ideas?

Key West is really nice. You can get the beach and the nightlife.
Last year we flew into Miami and then drove down the Keys until we got to Key West, stopping at a lot of beaches, parks and stuff on the way.
Here's a few pics we took (not many though) http://picasaweb.google.com/firespirit/KeyWest

I have to disagree with the Orlando part. Me and my dh went to disney for our honey moon and cost us maybe 900 dollars. That included flight, hotel and food. All we had to pay for was gifts for family. It is one of our favorite memorys and plan to go back as a second honeymoon. We we're treated like roalty. The perks we recieved I could go on and on about! It was nothing less then amazing.

We went to Clearwater/Tampa, Cocoa Beach and Orlando last year. Clearwater has GREAT beaches and it's in the middle of the state so everything is pretty much in a 2 hour radius. The Keys are a little further, but really not too bad.

that were we are headed this weekend :D nice pictures!!
We are flying down to Ft Lauderdale and driving to key west, cheaper than actually flying straight down to key west.
Have you guys looked into a cruise? I went last year on a deal for $600 for 2 people and everything is covered. You have to look around but the deals are out there. They port of out different fl locations so if you can drive out there the night before :)
Anywhere you fly now is going to cost at least $600 for 2 people.

for sure!
One question did you make reservations for everything you did before you went like jet skiing, I see the jet ski in one pic lol or could you just go or call up and go?
We reserved the catamaran for the fireworks show and scuba diving but dont want to commit to anything else just in case we run late or whatever.
I like that pink cab lol

We made reservations the day before we actually went on the jet ski. There was an information booth on a corner at the end of Duval street and we just set it up there. We didn't want to commit to anything either, and comminting the day before isn't too much of one, since the weather was okay. I'm pretty sure people still would have been able to walk up and go though.

We went to Clearwater Beach (looks like someone else did too!) We had a blast. I have tons of pictures if you would like to see. I do know that they have a Hilton there. Here are a few pics from our Honeymoon:

Another suggestion I have is Charleston or VA Beach, you could drive to Williamsburg which is fun.

We are probably going out of the country. But, I too didn't want to spend an arm and a leg getting there. As somebody mentioned, airfare is insane right now.
FH and I got a Midwest Airlines credit card. Since we were paying cash for everything for the wedding, we put it on the card, and paid it off when the bill came. We've also been putting bigger purchases on there to get the points. So, now our airfare is covered (well, mostly). I'm also hoping by the time we go (in roughly two years) gas will have gone down. Not sure when you were planning to go, but its just a thought.
Another really cool place in Florida is St. Augustine which is on the beach.

I remember driving past the place in the background and wanting to go there. It was a seafood place if I remember right. We never made it, but maybe next time. I have family in Clearwater, so we stay for FREE!

The place is called "Crabby Bills" We actually ate there twice. I thought it was good, but when I mentioned it to someone they said ohhhh Crappy Bills huh? But I thought it was decent I mean it wasn't like a luxury seafood place, but they had good popcorn shrimp :)
DH and I are getting ready to move to about 20-30 mins west of Orlando, so we will actually be living very close to where we took our honeymoon lol.
okay hijack is now over :)

I am thinking about going to Cocoa beach for my honeymoon. How was it?
