So I'm picking up the CD of my pro pics on Saturday. Which I absolute cannot wait for! So now my big question is, are there any places online that you can recommend for printing my pics? Wal-mart & Walgreens seem a little too low-end for my wedding pictures!! I found www.mpix.com (http://www.mpix.com) and they seem reasonable and professional. I'd rather get some input before going there, though. Let me know where you get your prints from!

Mpix.com is a great site for processing - the are the consumer end of a pricey pro service (Millers)- and I would bet the prints are made in the same lab. Some of the pros I work with use them to do their proof printing since the quality is good and the prices are low.
I used to manage a pro film/processing lab, and I agree that I wouldn't want to get important pictures printed at a lab like Wal-Mart, etc... A lot of the equipment is the same from lab to lab, but there are a lot of other factors, like the freshness of the chemicals and papers, monitor/output calibration - even the temperature of the room the machine is sitting in will make a difference!
To be honest, I had Walmart print my engagement pictures, and because they were such high resolution in digital, the pictures came out GREAT - not at all grainy. I had some 4x6's and 8x10's done, and I plan on doing the same with my wedding pictures.

I've used Shutterfly.com in the past and the prints have always turned out really well.

Ok, I just looked at mpix....they charge $1.99 for an 8x10. Uhhhh..my photographer charges $35 for an 8x10.
What gives?? Is he just jacking everyone or is there a big difference there or what? (And no, his aren't framed or on special paper or boxed or anything.)

The price you pay for a print from your photographer has very little to do with the raw cost of what the photographer pays for the print.
When you pay for prints, it's all about the time/skill in creating the photo, post-processing, color management with the lab, order management, that sort of thing. All the things that pros are super anal about when it comes to getting the perfect print. Basically, everything after the wedding.
You might read this post (http://www.professionalchildphotographer.com/information/?p=6) to get more information on the concept.
And...your photographer is probably not using mpix. :D I've heard good things, but I just wouldn't go there as a pro.

Well I don't have a different site for you. But I can tell you my photog said this June 22nd via myspace
The way I look at it, you are paying for the photos, they are yours. I will give you a CD of high-res images (if you didn't want to order prints), and will sign a piece of paper that says you have permission to get them printed. Some places, like Wal-Mart will insist on this little piece of paper, some won't. There is a lab that is out of town that does absolutely awesome work, their prices are great, it's very easy to use, they are pretty fast, and they won't ask for the photographer's permission to print the photos. Plus, they have Kodak Pro Endura Metallic paper which is just insanely awesome. (it's like liquid chrome almost, the colors just pop, and when the light hits it, wow.)
Mpix. com (http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vTXBpeC5jb20=) and I highly recommend the place to anyone I talk to, and if you remember Traycee that was going to help you with the 'modeling' poses, talk to her. I printed some 8 X 12's for her on the stuff, and she'll tell you, it's insane.
Hopes this helps you decide. :)

Not any options that you have access to as a consumer. I really have no idea how they all rate, because we use a service (White House Custom Colour-LOVE!) that works with pros only. If you really want to use them, your photographer can probably help, as long as they have a tax ID/DBA/something that proves they're a legitimate business.
I think your best bet is probably mpix. Like I said, I've heard good things, and think that they just might be the best consumer option out there. If I were you, I'd order a handful with them and see how they come out.

I saw that metallic paper and was going to order some prints on it, just to see what it looks like! I'm very excited to place my order with mpix and will let you all know how it turns out!! They also do the hardcover coffee table books, another MUST HAVE for me! :)

Metallic paper is AWESOME. It's great for really colorful, dramatic prints. We haven't done any B/W but I bet that would look really good. It can be a little obnoxious sometimes, so avoid it on low-key shots.

Am rather tensed about organizing things for my wedding and as you can expect the photos are one of the indispensable and important aspects of it. Now tell me friends where can I find a suitable place where I can get some of the wedding photos converted into a canvas in an affordable rate! Have come across some of the sites but the price asked by them is too much for me and my parents are pursuing me to do this. I had a look at the site you people mentioned here but could not see any such details present there any help towards this would help me a lot.

I use WHCC as well. LOVE them and they are super fast. I have been using them for a few years now.

Ok....I ordered a few things from mpix just to see how they looked.
OH. MY. GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bbeek:
I just got my order today and they're absolutely amazing....I never expected them to be so perfect.
I ordered both color and black & white on the metallic paper and they both look awesome...the black & white especially! It just POPS!
And, hello, CHEAP!
I got a variety of sizes to see how they all compared...and all are stellar. I ordered three 5x7 prints, one 3x5 print and four 8x10 prints...all on the metallic paper. With Priority Mail shipping, my total was still under $20!! (Remember, my photographer charges $35 for one 8x10 on regular paper.)
I just had to come brag on mpix and HIGHLY suggest them. I'm going to print out ALL my pictures on here for family and my albums.
Thank you for suggesting them!!!! :D

What was the resolution of your pics? Mine are 3 mp, and I was told anything bigger than a 5x7 would not look good. Just curious what yours was.
Thanks!

Oh, they were my pro pics....so at the very least, 10mp. I could see low res pictures being an issue, but that's with any attempt at printing.

Yeah, I feel kind of jipped because I thought that because a CD was a part of my package, it would be high-res. Instead, it's a 3mp disc and anything larger than a 5x7 I would still have to order through my photographer... so that was a little disappointing.
