Well, my DH and I have been together since 2003. We're married in every sense but the legal one, and we've got two little boys, and it's about darn time, so we're signing the dotted line on our next anniversary in a private ceremony and having a small celebration after with family and friends.
I'll chronicle my plans here and start my checklist and guest list. :grinhappy:

Thank you! I talked it over with DH and since this is going to be "our wedding" and the pictures from this event will be with us for the rest of our lives, we're going to push it back to 2010. That will give us time to save up for the things we'd like to have and give me time to do a lot of things myself.
Now, here's some brainstorming...
I'm thinking of the ceremony taking place on Marriage Island.
We will write our own vows.
We'll probably do the ceremony during the daytime.
I'd like to have an early evening dinner party at a restaurant in a party room.
I'd like a two tier square cake with a unique flavor.
I want to make my own invitations.
That's all I've got for now. :grinhappy:

Thanks! I've already contacted a few restaurants. I got one reply. It's actually my first choice!
Paloma Blanca will require a $500 minimum for use of the room, a $50 setup fee, and .50 per person for a cake cutting fee. There are plated menus or we can order from the regular menu.
I would want the Salon la Fuente for our party. Pics:

We could go with the cheapest food selections and invite an extra 10 people! I'm liking this place. :D

Hey, anything you can get for a deal is good in my book!

I couldn't agree more! I heard back from another place.. They would want us to spend way more on food, require a bigger room fee, and a bigger cake cutting fee. No way!

Oooh, I love your venue choice! It has a very laid-back, rustic feel, but still looks really nice for a reception. :D

Thanks! Yeah, those are copper fountains on the walls, and I'm guessing that you can have them use the candles to make a design on the wall.
I am going to see what the other restaurants have to say and we'll go eat dinner here sometime and look at the room. The deposit is only $100, so we'll only have to have another $500 or so the night of the party to cover everything. We may even be able to leave additional deposits and pay in advance. :grinhappy:
I'll have to see the room before making any decorating decisions. It won't need much, but maybe I'll bring the napkins (I don't like the colors in the picture) and see what the options are for centerpieces. It'll be in Feb, so it's dark early, so I'm imagining lots and lots of candles. It would make for inexpensive centerpieces!

I really like this dress from Jcrew.. I could probably have one made that is similar for a lot less than they want for this one..

Hooray another 2010 wedding! Hopefully I'll be joining the Mrs. Club with you that year! I love all the things that you have put together so far, especially your venue! And I love that first cake! We're probably going to use orange as one of our colors, too! :D
