Hi! When we bought my ring we chose to opt out of getting a Diamond. I was wary of the violent origin of many stones and I wanted "more bang for my buck" so to speak.. So we got me a Moissanite ring. It looks just like a diamond, only more brilliant! No one has ever thought anything of it. It's 1ct, so it's a nice size. Not big enough to make anyone think it's a fake.
Anyway, here's hoping I'm not alone! :grinhappy:

I don't have a gemstone ring, but if I wanted one I would probably go for moissanite over the cost of diamonds.
I did however look into getting some 1/2ct diamond or moissanite earrings once and the jeweler said it wouldn't make a difference in the price at that point.

We didn't choose Moissanite, but FH and I did choose a sapphire for the same reasons you mention! Moissanite is really pretty, though! Unlike CZ, it sparkles like a diamond.

I went with a sapphire as well, but I do like the idea of Moissanite. And the pieces I've seen are beautiful!!!

Oh, sapphire is pretty! I wanted something that looked traditional that wasn't. :) I would love to get some matching ear rings. Maybe that can be my special gift from DH. ;)

My FH asked me about moissanite and whether I'd go for it and I totally would! My center stone is a pink sapphire with diamonds just accenting the sides. Surprised he chose diamonds in the end, but they're small so maybe for the reasons WebLady mentioned.

Yeah, when we chose my ring we didn't have much to spend. We found it on sale for $500 at J C Penny's. We compared it to the diamond equivalent and it would be $5000 for the same ring! The price and size were both right, it was the last one like it they had left, so we jumped on it! :)

You and me both! We had just that much set back so far and thought we would have to wait longer to get it.

Moissanite is a new one on me. Maybe i walk around with my head in the shed or it just hasn't hit the UK yet.
We ended up with a Seven Diamond Ring but it was in a sale reduced from £850 to £65!!!!! (Approx $1,692 down to $129!!) Bargain of the week. :winktongue:

I think I would definately consider itfor a wedding band or any other jewelry. But I'm one of the odd ones, that I really wanted a diamond in my engagement ring. There is no rhyme or reason why. I normally prefer silver to gold, and amber to everything else. But I really badly wanted a white gold and diamond engagement ring. Gotta say though, Scott did very well when he picked it out and when he got it, as it was on huge sale at JCPenney. I know, I'm a weird dork.

I looked at Moissanite, as well...but fh ended up getting a sapphire, because I really wanted a colored stone.

I am the same way. Although, as I look at the colored center stones of so many of the brides here, I love those too. I guess I'm just traditional. But I have to say, the Moissanite looks like a diamond - I had no idea until you mentioned it!

It does. It looks like a really really good quality diamond.
It's more brilliant, though, and glitters more colors.. See?

Moissanite is the most brilliant jewel in the world and looks like a diamond with an excellent cut and make. Experts have a hard time telling the difference and need the use of a loupe and an electronic tester to be certain that it is not a diamond. The average person will not be able to tell the difference.
Spend 90% less on Moissanite and put the difference towards your wedding, your honeymoon, your house, or whatever else you have on your plate.
There are fantastic designs available at the Premier Moissanite website
