From what I understand, ring bearers and flower girls are usually 4-8 years old. Maybe you could have your sons do readings instead.

Could they be ushers?

My daughter will be 2 and our flower girl..
I think it just matters when they are much older... over 8 or so.. etc. Your sons like most are saying could be ushers

My flower girls will be 9 and 7. My ring bearer will be 3.5. So... 2 outta 3 are not supposed to be in the roles I'm giving them... But you know what, it's my wedding and I can do whatever I want and however I want.

You could have them be junior groomsmen. They are the perfect age for that.

My ring bearer will be 8, almost 9.
I dont think it matters the age. I'd use a teenager. Then again, I dont follow the rules.

Same situation here:)
I have alot of neices & nephews but don't know what to have them "do" and its a real informal wedding so.....I'm just gonna end up having the leastun's:)
my 3 yr old twin neices, be the flower girl and ring bearer.
FH wants his nephews(one is gonna be 13 & the other 9) to be ushers.
But if they do something I'd feel like his neice (our neice:) should do something too b/c otherwise she'll feel left out (one of the ushers is her brother and they are really close in age) I think we will put her in charge of the guest book or have her make sure everyone gets a favor.?
The rest of my neices and nephews are older (neices-11 & 14, nephews-13, & three 15 yr olds) so I dont think they'll feel left out.
In your case I agree with the other ladies, they could be ushers or honorary groomsmen

Ushers show guests to their seats in the church. Hand out Buttonholes etc. They will be a great age to do that role and feel important too.
We're having FH's Grandson as Ring Bearer and he'll be 2 Yrs Old by then.
I think a lot depends on how old they are in the mind too. Sometimes our Grandson acts more mature than we do LOL. :D

My FH's son is 6 and he is going to be a jr.groomsmen. My DD will turn 2 the week after the wedding, and she is our FG. To me it isn't really about what they are "supposed" to be, but rather what they feel comfortable with. I woulld imagine that most boys at that age would not be into the RB thing, but would rather feel like he is older, and thus able to be a groomsmen.
