Just curious on what everyone is doing for the 4th of July. We're flying to DFW, Texas to see my husband's family. Texas is our homeland; we haven't been back there in 2.5 years! It will be nice to see his family. Hope we have a bbq in his parents' backyard. They have a huge pool and hot tub. Can't wait to go swimming! Not sure what else we're doing, but we're just glad that we get to go somewhere and that we get to spend time with his family.

We are headed up to my parent's house in Upper Michigan on Thursday and staying a week and a half! So, I probably won't be on here at all. Nothing but fishing with my daddy, shopping with my mama, tubing and just relaxing! We will be helping them build their new house, but still, I can't wait. Plus, having that much time off of work and just spending it with FH and my parent's and brother and my other brother (Owen, the golden retriever!) I am sooo psyched!!!! :D

Thanks hun, you too! And everyone else!! Ahh..I love summer holidays!
I don't know exactly what we'll be doing yet. SIL is having a get together at her house so we'll go there for a little while. On the 4th there's not much to do around here that doesn't involve country music and Budweiser. That's not really our kind of thing and I don't particularly want to spend the whole day with family so maybe we can find a nice spot to view the Houston fireworks.
We're going to a BBQ at a friend's house. I can't wait! Afterwards we may try to find a place to watch fireworks, but we don't really feel like dealing with the crowds, either...

We'll be going to my parents' house for their annual cookout on the 4th. We also have some friends visiting the night of the 4th and 5th, and then we're going to visit FH's parents on the 6th.

Every year we go to the biggest science-fiction/fantasy convention around, CONvergence (www.convergence-con.org (http://www.convergence-con.org)) and have done so for . . . .let's see, this year is the 10th anniversary, so, ten years! :) It's a LOAD of fun and this year I hope to get a new tee-shirt out of it. If you volunteer 15 hours of your time before, afterwards, or during CON, you get a tee-shirt free, that has a unique designed-just-for-that-year art piece on it. This year's art is REALLY COOL and for the first time in years, the teeshirt is black, so, I want one!
We're having TWENTY guests of honor, including the guy who plays Chewbacca, the guy who plays General Martok, lots of writers (including the duo that write the Valdemar books and the 1632 series) and a physicist and astronaut!!
So cool. I can't wait. Today I bought a pair of earrings that look like screws, so people will think that I've put a 1/4" screw through my ears!!! Hee hee. That and my red-and-black wig should be a huge hit.
I'll be dying my hair extra platinum blond tomorrow, probably. It's blond anyway, but the platinum will look really good . . . and fade naturally, the other important part!
After the wedding, I plan to cut my hair short and dye it bright blue, for next year :)

We are doing the same thing I have done my entire life! Every year we go to my aunt and uncles house. They live in a very small town, and it feels like the whole town is there. But we have a BBQ and they have a bunch of land and 4 wheelers and trails. They also have a pond to go fishing and they usually get a soft ball game going. Oh and they raise deer, kinda weird, but its fun to go look and them. Then at nigh we have a HUGE fireworks show. Everyone goes together and they buy around 2-3 thousand dollars worth of fireworks:bbeek:! It takes about a half an hour to set them all off. Theres always SO many people there but its a lot of fun.

Sleeping in, NOT working, eating ice cream, and taking amazing firework pics with my new zoom lens.
In the town I live by, they have Ribfest, which is basically ribs and music! We are going to go on the 3rd to see Ted Nuggent, and on the 5th to see Joan Jett...I am so exicited. As fo rthe 4th, we will probably just cook out and watch the fireworks from our backyard.

Im really bummed. I probably wont be doing too much. My mother likes to drink, especially on holidays so I wont be going over there. My FH has to work at 3 the next day, so he'll probably want to go to bed early. Yet, it's my baby boy's first 4th of July. Maybe Ill just sit outside and look forward to other people's fireworks, and have it on TV.
So sad....
Last year when I was pregnant FH and I went to Fort Vancouver in Washington fo the biggest fireworks this side of the Mississippi.
:( I wanna go again!!

We (FH, a good friend, and I) are taking a roadtrip down to Fort Lauderdale for the weekend. Good friends of ours moved down there in December, and we've only gotten to see them once since then, so we're just going to go play for the weekend... they're having a party Friday night, we'll go down and check out South Beach, and just party, play and go to the beach. :)

I have my kids for the fireworks for the first time in years. THey usualy spend atleast the fireworks part of the 4th with their dad. We will hang around the house for a while, go to the parade. Then down to the beach where they have bands playing and all kinds of food and games for the kids. They go on all day until the fireworks. Maybe if it is nice we can hit the beach for a while. I lose my kids for a week the next day so am going to spoil them that day.

We are planning on going out on the pantoon with FH parents, for the day, swimming, cooking out, lounging around the river. Then that evening driving the boat over to the Battleship and watching the fireworks display! Should be romantic:grinhappy:

We will either stay here and go to a fireworks display or go to my fiance's family's lake place. It kinda stinks 'cause he has to work on Saturday... so he gets a day off then has to go work again. But then again, I have to work Saturday night, anyway. Anyway, if we went to the lake, we'd go Thursday night and come back Friday night.

Moving- Even though we have been married for over a month now, the majority of my furniture and things are still at my house. While I'm excited to finally be living with my husband in our house, I hate moving and can't believe how much stuff I have accumulated over the past 7 years! We had a garage sale last weekend of just some of the extra stuff I had and made over $700!! (Of course that went to the new washer and dryer we are having delivered on Saturday so it wasn't like free money! :D)

LOL! I have lived in Vancouver for about 7 years and have never gone to the Fort on the Fourth! We can see the fireworks from our backyard though - so there is no need to brave the crowds! :)
My friends live up on a hill in Vancouver and we usually go to a party at their house on the Fourth...we can see most of Portland from there and it is funny to watch the fireworks going off all over the city - since they are illegal in Oregon!
This year we have tickets to get in to a party at a restaurant right down on the river so we will be right under the big display when they go off! I am soo excited!

Hmm? Fireworks aren't illegal there. Everyone had them. Maybe I'm confused and you meant something else.

Nothing exciting planned here; I am not really a fan of fireworks (the dogs really hate them), but we may grill out, just not sure yet.

Oh oh, i actually have work off!!! :D We might be going with my homies for baseball (even though i hate sports with a passion..) maybe? Maybe going to Plymouth for fireworks.. hopefully they are that night. Why does it seem like no one actually does fireworks ON the 4th anymore?! lol. Hopefully someone bbq's, too. Been a while since i got to do some of that.. Um.. I'm just pretty happy i have a holiday off. :D

Just the ones that go up in the air and explode...and those are the ones we can see going off all over the city...
from the oregon.gov website:
Retail sales fireworks (legal fireworks) are those 1.4G (Class C)
consumer fireworks that do not explode, fly into the air, travel more
than six feet horizontally and/or 12 inches vertically from the point of
ignition. These include cone fountains, cylindrical fountains, flitter
sparklers, ground spinners, illuminating torches, wheels, etc.

FH and I are going to see my parents in Maryland then driving to WV to visit this place called Hatfield and McCoy. They have hundreds of miles of ATV trails to ride on and log cabins to rent. It should be pretty fun... it's our first time though so I'm nervous! :D

I doubt we do anything friday, but we could also end up at my MIL b/c they do not believe in making plans (don't get me started) so we probably won't know until thursday night or friday morning. Then on saturday, we are throwing my dad a surprise 50th birthday party! The whole family is coming over for a cookout, swimming and games. It's going to be so fun and he has NO idea it's happening! I can't wait :)

We are going camping! We both said that we wanted to do a lot more camping this summer. Unfortunately this is only the 2nd time for us this summer. It's hard because FH works swing shift so we can really only have a worthwhile weekend of camping every 3 weeks. But hey, the summer is still young, right?
On Sunday we are going to my grandparent's house for a cookout. All the relatives will be there. I'm hoping my brother-in-law will take some fun shots of FH & I together. He has an awesome camera and takes brilliant pictures.
