I still am totally in shock about this. I keep thinking was it a dream? A mistake?
Yesterday we went to Mark's dad's for dinner. He really wanted to get the whole family together before our wedding. It was a good night. We looked through photo albums of Grammies and some of the stuff from her house. After we had dinner Mark's dad and step-mom gathered us all together in the living room and Brian started to make a speech about being so glad we are so close and that we can get together like this and how important family is to him. He then proceeded to pull a stack of envelopes out from the back of his shirt and gave us each one. Inside was a card signed with love dad, grammie and ildi, and a cheque. I think the whole room then erupted in tears because of it. Both Mark and i looked at ours and thought.... 'Is this a mistake?!' There seemed to be too many zeros. No mistake. Mark and i, His sister and her husband, his younger sister, and 2 step brothers all got cheques. Just because. Mark's dad acknowledge that they haven't always been able to afford to help us out and now they can and want to. They also told us that the money they were giving us last night had no affect on the money they are planning on giving us for the wedding. I am in such awe of their generosity.
Mark and i just cried. We cried on the way home because just the night before we were starting to worry about how we were going to make this work. Money has been really tight for us, and we have been thinking about what we can cut back on for the wedding so we could afford it. I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it. A huge weight has been taken off our shoulders and i now know how much his family cares about me and i really feel like i belong.

Thats awesome Jenn!! It was much the same way we felt when my FIL told us he would give us a good sized down payment for a new home! Then when they were here, they were practically planning our (Future) Childrens room!! lol.

Parents are wonderful!!

Awww.... that's so sweet! I can imagine our parents planning out baby rooms as well. Marks dad and step mom were bouncing off the wall when they saw me feed my nephue the other night. It was the first time i had ever fed a baby. It was kinda cool.

That is great Jenn! Congrats! Don't blow it all though ;)

We got a sizable check from DH grandparents when we got married and I was like :bbeek: I cried a little too We spent part of it getting them a little album with our names and wedding date on it filled with pics from the wedding and honeymoon. They called us when they got it and they cried, said no one had ever done anything like that before. It made me feel good, plus I guess it keeps us in the will ;)

Congrats again :D

Most of it will go to the wedding. Flowers gifts for the bridal party and our parents. The outstanding balance on the photographer. There are alot of little things we still need to pay for. But we are also going to save some for first and last months rent so we can move when we were hoping to. The other night we were thinking we'd have to stay to the end of the summer because it was going to save us money. I think Mark want's to get a new tatoo and i want to save some to buy ourselves a dog.

We're going to put into the account Mark has at my bank that he doesen't use very much and i'm going to hang onto the card and we'll call it the wedding account. Since i am going to be the one paying for a majority of everything because i have more time during the day. Neither of us will be as likely to spend it on other things.
