View Full Version : Ahhh!!!! Which dress??? *PICS*

I feel like such a floozy.

There's been such a series of ups and downs with the stupid wedding dress experience. I mean, seriously. I NEVER want to have to go through this again. IF I do, whether be for a renewal, or heaven forbid, another wedding, I am wearing jeans. No joke. But this will be the only time. :grinhappy: And it's almost over!

Anyway, back to the dress issue. I am going to post pics of the first dress. The dress that was taken to a non-David's Bridal alterations place, was messed up too much for me, and left there. The dress that I rebought off of ebay and took to David's Bridal pretending it was the original. Tried it on after the first set of alterations and immediately started crying because I hated how I looked in it (turns out they just tightened it too much). The dress that when I tried on for the second time at the alterations place (after buying Dress #2), I actually liked it and felt pretty... urg.

Urg because I bought Dress #2 and had "the feeling".

BUT, when I tried on both dresses again, at home, with my sister taking pictures, I thought Dress #2 was too tight, the armpit fat a lot more evident... just didn't get the feeling again... *sigh*

Sister and Moma both say they like the 2nd dress better. OFF me, I LOVE Dress #2 better... and LOVE the details, etc.

And I'm working my butt off for the last TWENTY FOUR days, and if I feel like it fits a little better then, I will wear it.

Otherwise I'm perfectly happy with Dress #1.

See the dilemma??? Here are the dress pictures. Let me know what you think, and be honest!

Dress #1, plain up top, but will be wearing a veil and handmade necklace... and possibly a teal sash with it if worn on "The Big Day."

Dress #2. Will have simple necklace, possibly veil (haven't' decided), and I'd have to buy new shoes (for a little height). LOVE the detail, but HATE the armpit fat, and also think the dress looks like it's pulling a little near the small of my back. (Oh, but I love that my mole is peeking out of the top of the dress.)

Both dresses are gorgeous - but I've got to be honest I like the first one better. I love the clean simple lines. Either one you choose - you are going to look beautiful.

Wow! Tough choice!! Too bad you look so great in both dresses! If you looked totally silly in one it would make the decision way easier! LOL!!

I am a little biased since I tried on the first dress and loved it, but I think I like that one better. It looks more comfortable, and like it fits the mood of your wedding a little better.

Honestly it won't matter 'cause you will be stunning either way. Sorry, I know that's not much help!

Hi,

I love both dresses. I think you like the first dress better. You are smiling more and you look more confident. I personally prefer the second dress.. I think it's very elegant. You can easily wear either. The important thing is for you to feel good in it. It will reflect on your smile how you are feeling. Please let me know which one you pick! Congratulations and good luck!

Personally I like the second dress better. I think it's just a matter of personal taste though, as I typically prefer things that aren't "simple" which #1 is. I think dress #2 fits you better and is more flattering. But go with your gut, and, or have you thought of wearing one to the wedding and the other to the reception, that way you won't feel you have to choose, and you won't have wasted any money.

And let's be honest there is NO ARM PIT FAT unless you can see it from a galloping horse it is not that bad. I can't see it.
Stop beating yourself up about something that does not exist.

Definitely dress #2 for me. It looks more original and you look great in it. Don't take this the wrong way but dress #1 has a cheap look to it.

Honest opinion but remeber it is only an opinion and you should go with the one that makes you happy.

Go with your gut.

Well, thanks ladies for your opinions... I guess I was hoping that everyone would choose one of the dresses over the other, but it looks like mixed opinions from everyone!

I think if I were getting married tomorrow, I'd choose dress #1... just because I think it looks better on me. (but aesthetically, on the hanger, #2 is my favorite)

And I know that I'm the only one that's going to be picky about my body (i.e. the "armpit fat")... but I dont' want to get my pictures back and automatically focus on those parts of me that I notice now... ya know what I mean? So I'm working out and watching what I eat for the next 23 days, and we'll see at the end what looks best.

And smiller, if only the dress were cheap! After all alterations dress #1 has cost me $755. Dress #2 cost me $115. BUT, I have them both now, so.... might as well not even think about the cost...

And, we're not having a super-formal reception, and I'd feel silly changing for that.... so that's not an option for me.

I think you look fantastic in both dresses. It would be hard to choose. I like #1 better...but it might just be because you look so happy in it. I love the idea of a colored sash. That will look great.

Good luck choosing. You will be beautiful no matter your decision.

I like #1 better.. I'm one of those people that gravitates toward clean lines. I also don't think you really have armpit fat in the second... it just doesn't seem like it's high enough to me, if that makes sense. Like it should be hiked up an inch. But, like everyone else has said, they're both stunning!

I vote for #1. I really like the clean lines, and I think it is more flattering. I also think you should enjoy the next few weeks of being excited... please don't spend your time obsessing about arm pit fat and working out like a maniac and eating celery. You are really small. Stop worrying about it! You look beautiful!

OMG, you seriously have NO "armpit fat". You are stunning in both dresses but I too have to vote for #1. I just love the clean lines.

06-27-2008, 05:58 AM
You look happier in #1. Which is what is most important, don't want to look upset on your wedding day.

Your figure is more defined in #2. That's not as important because eitherway, you're thin and that shows.

My opinion? I like #2. It's very elegant looking, and if you're worried about "armpit fat," I'd pull the dress up a little bit.

Go with what you're most comfortable in. When you're comfortable, you're confident. And when you're confident, especially on your wedding day, people will notice and see how stunning you look. Does that make sense? :snide: Hehe.

Alright...I love both dresses on you but personally number one is my choice!

It's almost like it was made for your particular body. Most important is which one do you genuinely feel good in??

Ok see how I'm glad I never saw pics of you in #1 when I still had it, cus I'd have gotten depressed -- it looks amazing on you!!

#1 has a very innocent, pure appeal to it... #2 has just a touch of elegant sexiness.... and they both look stunning on you. So it just depends which feeling is more "you."

I think that I like the first one on you more, plus if you wear a teal sash with it, it won't be that plain. That would add a splash of color and interest. I think I would have to see the headpiece and necklace on to get a full picture, but I def like #1 better.

Scrwballsgrl
06-27-2008, 10:52 AM
I agree with Kvettgrl! I see NO ARM PIT FAT! lol we crazy women are our own worse critics! lol

That said, I think both dresses are beautiful, #2 is more elegant as far as design goes, but I have seen #1 in store & online and let me tell you it looks Beautiful on you!
You do look like your smiling more and have more self confidence in the #1 dress (is that b/c you like it more or b/c it was the first pic?)

I'm not much help bc I think it should just be whichever one you feel more comfortable in.....I mainly just wanted to VETO your idea of arm pit fat, lol. :grinhappy:

And, we're not having a super-formal reception, and I'd feel silly changing for that.... so that's not an option for me.

Sorry, let me rephrase what I was trying to say:
I am sure that the dress is not really cheap I just meant that dress #2 looks more regal while Dress #1 looks more stamped out.

Either way brides always look beautiful for some reason(it's kind of like a puppy is always cute). Wear the one that makes you comfortable on your wedding day because I am sure that you will have plenty of other **** to think about:D

I really like #1 on you alot. I like it just like it is too - no teal sash, no extra anything. I love the simple lines and the touch of satin over the chiffon. It is alot more simple than dress #2, and seems to fit your wedding theme really well. You look beautiful in both dresses and as the other girls have said "What armpit fat??" I hope you can figure out which dress makes you feel the best and wear that one- or maybe you should do as LadyDante suggested and wear them both!

06-27-2008, 02:23 PM
I think that both dresses look great on you , and no matter what you choose you are going to look great. I think that the decision can be made by asking yourself a couple of things. What is the "theme" of your wedding? Which dress makes you feel great about yoursefl? (besides the arm fat that you see)

Good Luck in your decision, you wont be able to make a wrong one!

My fav is #1 :)

06-27-2008, 03:58 PM
I have to say in all honesty. I LOVE NUMBER ONE! It looks so pretty and again, if you thought it was plain you could always add a colored sash.

Number two doesn't seem like a traditional wedding dress, but it depends on your venue and guest list. It seems like a...homecoming dance dress. Not quite prom. Where is the wedding, and how many people are going to be in attendance?

It's all on personal choice, but I think you would look very glamorous in the first dress, and you could dress it up alot more. You could do anything as far as shoes, veils, and tiaras go. Jewelry and shoes would be easy as well.

StarCoveter
06-27-2008, 04:02 PM
What is the "theme" of your wedding?

I know kfancii touched on this too... I'd never thought of it! Dress #2 is definitely elegant and classy... I do love it... but I am getting married in the middle of the mountains at a private lodge, hopefully outdoors on a deck (unfortunately no stunning views from that spot, but still outside and lovely), small wedding - no more than 40 guests, and very informal, personal, and lots of diy.

Dress #2 might just be toooooo fancy for that... but it is SO pretty!

All you ladies have made me feel so amazing! I didn't anticipate getting so many responses, and I appreciate ALL of them! Logically I know I'm being silly by nit-picking on my appearance - my self-perception is something that I need to work on, and have been trying to for some while. FH does a fantastic job of telling me he thinks I'm beautiful just the way I am, but it's easy to lump his comments into the bucket titled "Cause he loves me."

Thanks to everyone! I think I'm leaning heavily towards Dress #1!!! Now, to work on a sash just to see (I'll post pics when finished and get opinions), jewelry, buy a veil.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME FEEL BEAUTIFUL! ONEWED IS THE BEST!!!

I think the 1st one does more for you. The armpit/back fat is what keeps me away from the strapless style dresses because even the thinnest girls can fall prey to it. But the 1st dress doesn't look like it's doing anything bad. I do think the 2nd dress looks a little too tight in back.

Just weighing in the "great dress debate of '08!!" I think you look gorgeous in both of them, but I like you better in #1. Add a teal sash and it will really make the outfit! Or, at least try it with a teal sash (make the **** thing already!) and then post another pic! :)

I guess I'm late weighing in on this, but seeing you in #1 just makes me feel like that dress was made just for you to wear. It looks that perfect. I love #2 as well, but I see that dress at a seaside wedding. The gorgeous bust makes me think, "mermaid!!".

However, I know I tried on dresses that fit me better and were possibly more appropriate, but I LOVED my dress despite some other practical reasons. It's a woman's wedding dress...practical goes out the window. ;)

Ugh, I just went and looked back at the pictures. I totally like #1 better. What was I thinking buying #2? Well, I know what I was thinking... I was hating the first dress, and was too impatient and stressed to try and wait for alterations to fix it up perfectly, which they ended up doing.

But I think I really like the way #1 looks on me.... so that is the dress I'm going with!!! :D Yay for making a decision!

I personally like you better in the first dress. Both dresses are very nice but the first one just looks more like a wedding dress to me than the second. I think either dress you choose will look great.
