So I am finally starting a journal even though I've been a member for awhile.
I got engaged on 2-23, my birthday. I knew it was coming, just didn't know exactly how or when. It happened at dinner. My fiance and I went out to dinner w/ his best friend and his gf (who has the same bday). When it was time for dessert, I told my fiance to tell our waitress it was our birthday so we could get a free sundae. He then told me he had already ordered for me. I was kinda bummed b/c I didn't know what they had to offer. The waitress came by and asked what everyone else wanted. Then she told us she would bring out the dessert tray. I was confused as to why she put it down in front of me. Then, I saw my name and was even more confused. Finally I read the whole thing...on a place w/ strawberry cheesecake in the middle, was written w/ icing... Amanda Will You Marry Me? Brian then got down on one knee and asked me himself. Of course I said yes!
We have been together for 4 years, getting married the day before our 5 year anniversary. So far we have the place for the ceremony and reception (which comes w/ the cake, dj, and food), my dress, the bridesmaid dresses, my bouquet, and the tossing bouquet.
Right now the planning has kind of slowed down because we got the big stuff out of the way and I am working full time plus trying to do an internship. Once my internship is done (in about a month and a half) I will have more time for planning.
I'm so excited to continue, so far it's been a blast. I look forward to looking thru all of the threads on here, so far I've gotten some good ideas. Everyone seems really nice and helpful and I'm glad I found this site!

Congrats. What a sweet proposal!!! I can't wait to hear more about your plans!!! Have you decided on colors or a theme yet?
Our colors are black white and a hot pink/ fushia color. Our theme is intertwined hearts.
And to add to the things already done, the invites are picked out (we are just printing them off the computer), and thank you notes are bought. I think that is it for now.
I almost forgot, my mom informed me today that the flower petals for the FGS to throw and that we are going to use for decor on the tables came in today. Now we are just waiting on the bubbles.
Another thing, a few months ago my mom said she had a surprise for me. She's not too good at waiting either. I opened it and was so excited to have my first wedding gifts. She got us Mr and Mrs Pillow cases mine w/ a veil and his w/ a top hat, a lucky wedding coin and a signature plate for the bridal party to sign. I am escatic!!!
My FH and I are going to look at wedding bands tonight and hopefull by the end of the week he will call his uncle and book him as our officiant. I can't wait, it's still so far away though!

i am excited to say more things are finished. my fh talked with his uncle and he will be our officiant. fh and i went to a florist to get some ideas for boutinerres corsages and decor. all of the bouquets are silk so i wanted to incorporate real flowers. my mom and i went monday night to michaels and got a lot done. bm bouquets were purchased. i just need to run back up there friday and get a few more flowers b\c they are kinda small. we also got programs that we will just print off the comp. at first we weren't going to do programs but since fhs stepdad passed away last mth we want to mention him in the program.

I am happy to say more has been done since my last journal post. It took awhile b/c we had some family issues (FHs stepdad passed away last month). FH (finally) asked his uncle to officiate at our wedding so now that is complete.
The bubbles came in about a month and a half ago so now we have the petals for the table decorations and the bubbles for the guests.
A few weeks ago FH and I went to a florist to get some ideas for boutinerres, corsages, and decor. All of the bouquets are silk so I wanted to somehow incorporate real flowers. For our centerpieces, we were going to have mirrored plates w/ glass bowls holding floating candles. Well, we decided to do every other table floating candles and the other table would have a carnation floating. I still would like some real flowers at the ceremony, just not sure how yet.
My mom and I went to Michaels on Friday and got some things. We picked up the BM bouquets. I need to go back (hopefully tomorrow) and get a few more white flowers b/c the bouquets seem small. We also picked up some more flowers petals which I'm really excited about b/c they are fushia and will look good on the white aisle runner. We also picked up programs. I did not want to really do programs b/c I didn't see a need for them, but since FHs stepdad passes away, we want to be able to honor him not only w/ a memory candle but in the program as well.
My sister's BM came in last month. I need to get the other two to order their's and figure out what we are doing for FG dresses. I wasn't so keen on the color of the BM dress, but my mom says it will look different under the florescent lights. I hope she is right.
Last week or so FH and I chose our pic from our engagement pics that we want to use for oru STDs. Hopefully those will be coming in the mail w/in the next 2.5 weeks. Once they come in they will get sent out.
We registered at our last store, so other than updated our registeries, we are completed w/ that. I have my graduation party on Sept. 6 and my mom is telling people we are registred at such and such stores so we can get some things early!!! I can't wait!
By the end of the month, I am trying to decide on a florist, meet w/ our officiant, decided whether or not to have a videographer, actually book our photographer, and visit a travel agency for info about the honeymoon. I know the month is almost over, so I know all of that will be unlikely, but I am trying to stay somewhat on track w/ a schedule.
Here is an updated to do list (changed the color of the comments):

FH and I went to our first Bridal Show on 8-10. We had a good time. Got some ideas for transportation, cake, and our honeymoon. We were there for almost five hours. Neither one of us thought he would really enjoy himself, but he did. I am hoping there are more that I am aware of before our big day, but who knows.
I really cannot believe how fast the time is going by. We have been engaged for almost six months, and I thought it would take forever to get to this point. It's hard to believe we started w/ more than 15 months to play and now we are almost at less than nine!!! I just need to keep on schedule so I can get everything finished and not be too stressed out. :D

So this past week FH and I got some stuff done! Last Thursday we went to a possible florist to get pricing on the bouts and corsages we will need. On Saturday we had our menu tasting, which was soooo much fun! We also picked up our cakes to taste the different flavors and fillings. That was fun as well. Before we headed to the tastings, we went back to a florist we had been at before b/c we lost the pricing info for them. I think we have made a decision, but we're going to (hopefully) decide by the end of the week. We are also trying to figure out what we are going to do about a videographer.
Can't believe how fast the time is flying by....next time I blink, our wedding day will be here!!! :D
