This is Jason and Amber at a Christmas party 2005. Amber and Jason have been together since 2001. Jason proposed to her in January 2006. They will be getting married September 9, 2006. There is a sad story about why they picked that particular date to get married. Amber got pregnant last year, but she lost the baby. The baby would have been due the first week of September 2006. Since they were planning on getting married anyway, they decided that now would be a good time to go through with their plans to help fill the void that was left when they couldn't plan for their baby's birth. They are still planning on starting their family again after they are married.

This is me and Amber at a performance by Jason's band. Jason plays the bass guitar. He is very, very good. I raised Amber and her older brother all by myself. I am honored that Amber asked me to give her away at her wedding.

This is Amber's hand and ring. It is a 1.54 carat princess cut diamond in white gold. She adores that ring!

Almost the first thing we ordered after Jason proposed was the Save the Date magnets. We have already mailed all of them out. These are Amber & Jason's actual magnets.

This is Amber's dress. We got it at Group USA after having a terrible experience at David's Bridal. Let's just say we had the consultant from hell! Anyway, she ended up getting the dress of her dreams, and she looks like a princess in it.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/Ambersdress.jpg
These are her shoes. We got them at Dillards.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/Ambersshoes.jpg
This is her jewelry. She also has a matching bracelet. We picked this jewelry because her tiara is made up of these kind of flowers in crystals and pearls. It is really pretty.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/Ambersjewelry.jpg
This is her veil, except her veil is edged with ivory and not white.

This is what Amber's BM dresses look like. They are victorian lilac.
She has one MOH and two bridesmaids. All of them have already bought their dresses from David's bridal.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/BMdress.jpg
These are their silver, strappy thongs. We got them at Target.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/newshoes.jpg
This is my dress and shoes. I got both at Dillards. Since I am giving Amber away, I wanted to look sort of like having on a tuxedo but not. It has silver metallic stripes in the jacket and silver specks all the way through.

The wedding will be at the Red Mountain Ranch Country Club (RMRCC) in Mesa Arizona. The wedding will be on the Rooftop Garden.
CHANGE: We were going to get married on the Rooftop Garden, but we have since changed our mind. Because it is September, and because we do live in Arizona (think desert), we have decided to bring the wedding indoors. We are now having the wedding in the air-conditioned comfort of the Red Mountain Room at RMRCC.
We will have an white aisle runner with lavender bow flower arrangements going down the aisle seats. This is a picture of the actual arch that we will be using for the wedding. This is exactly how it will be decorated, only ours will have lavender colors on it.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/Arch.jpg
We will have fans placed on every chair. Here is a picture of our actual fans. We love them! They will add another beautiful touch of color to our wedding.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/fan.jpg
The picture on the left is the Overlook Room at the RMRCC. This is where we are actually having our reception. It has a spectacular golf course view. The picture on the right shows the actual chair covers that we will be using for the wedding, only difference will be is that ours will have victorian lilac organza sashes.

We have these favors which are clear plastic miniature oriental take out containers that we are going to fill with dark and light purple M&M's, which will be printed with Jason & Amber on one side and Sept 9, 2006 on the other. They cost a fortune but they are so worth it. We have a lavender bow with these tags which will say "Thank You!" We already have them and they are adorable!
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/favors.jpghttp://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/Favorhangtags.jpg
And we will have these placecards with the guest names and table number ready for pick up when our guests arrive. They just have to find their tables. We hope they remember to take these frames and their favors home. I have a feeling that some people will forget. I can just see it now, us having to eat tons of purple M&M's and trying to find miniature pictures to put in all our mini frames. Oh well....

More to come tomorrow. I have to go to bed because I have to work tomorrow. Please let me know what you think so far. Thanks!

Thank you, Lacey! Amber has always been a silver, white gold type of girl. Her mother is the opposite, I have always loved yellow gold. She has always wanted a princess cut diamond if she ever got married. Jason knew this about her, and he got her just what she wanted. He is a sweetheart too!

These are Amber's unity candles. They are called Starlight and they have small pearls and crystals encrusted into them. They are so beautiful.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/UnityCandle.jpg
Her ring pillow is Starlight too. The ring bearer is Amber's nephew. He is my one and only grandson. He is my son's boy and he is 3 years old. Precious, precious, precious!!! I will send a picture when I get home from work. His mother, Crystal, is one of Amber's BM.

I forgot to tell you about Amber's flowers. Y-Knot Party & Rentals in Mesa, Arizona will be doing all our flowers which will be real.
This is a very close representation of what Amber's bouquet will look like. It will be cream daylilies, and sterling (lavender) and ivory roses some large, some sweetheart, minimal greens, with a touch of heather & a lilac stem wrap. She will also have a separate bouquet to toss.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/bouquetA.jpg
Her bridesmaids will have smaller versions of Amber's bouquet, very similar to this. Ivory daylilies, charmed alstroemeria, ivory & sterling sweetheart roses, a touch of heather, with an off-white stem wrap.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/bouquetBM.jpg
Me and the grandmas (Jason's mother died, but he still has his grandma and his great-grandma, and Amber's grandmother, my mother) will have pin-on corsages with sweetheart sterling roses, charmed alstroemeria, & a touch of heather.
We don't have any fathers or grandfathers in our family anymore, but Jason will have an ivory rose with heather & ivy, and his groomsmen will all have charmed alstroemeria, ivy, & a touch of heather.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/alstroe.jpghttp://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/heather.jpg
The Ring Bearer will have a bout of ivory sweetheart rose with a touch of heather & ivy. The flower girl will have fresh lavender and ivory rose petals in her basket.
We will have fresh lavender and ivory rose petals for tables, the cake table, and the unity candle table. Also every table in the reception will have a hurricane candle with lavender and ivory rose petals and lavender bows will be tied around every hurricane lamp.
There will be fresh flowers to decorate the wedding cake - some daylilies, some roses, some charmed alstroe with a bit of greens.
Besides the decorated arch, we have lavender flower bow arrangements going down the aisle of the wedding.

Amber & I have found 2 more hairstyles that we really like and we found them right here at Onewed.
This one is called Elegant Updo and Amber really likes it. We still can't figure out why she is holding her butt though. I guess that is considered sexy. We thought it looked dumb. But her hair is really pretty and we are going to try to get Amber's hair to do that. What do you think?

This one is called Spanish Updo. Amber found this one for me. If only I was young, spanish, and gorgeous like her. But I think my hair can do this. I was thinking of doing it half up and half down anyway. What do you think?

That's a good point, Jennifer! It could get really irritating to have your hair hanging down your back, especially when you're hot. I wouldn't say it's going to be really hot necessarily, it might be a little bit warm. The ceremony, which starts at 5:30pm, is expected to last 30 minutes. It will be outside, the sun will be down, and the norm for Phoenix in early September is 98 degrees. We will be inside, in the air conditioning, for five more hours. So, that being said, I think I will wear it up.

Here is one that is a little bit lighter, more of a cream with a regular tie. Am I getting warmer or cooling down?

I do not care for the bow tie look. I just think it looks more goofy...I want him to look suave and debonair(did I spell that right?)...but this is a nice color....
I think I like this color the best too, it's very complimentary to your gown. We just need to see what Jason thinks, and then see if it comes in a regular tie.

Who cares...? LOL...J/K!
Jason does not like the bow tie look he is under the impression he will wear something similar to the middle suit. I am trying to think of a good way to mix it up so that the groomsmen look slightly different then Jason aside from the boutonierre's. Any suggestions??

We are going with Toonz DJ here in Phoenix. They provide a stunning light show. Music will be tailored to fit Amber & Jason's tastes, which will include a "do not play" list. My guess is that the NOT list will include anything by Barry Manilow or Neil Diamond; and, of course, anything country. They also provide fog, bubbles, the whole works. I think having the right DJ makes the wedding.

I think it might be better than having me go dramatic. You know how pitiful some older women look when they think makeup is going to hide their age, when all it does is make them look even older. I want to embrace my maturity.

I don't want you to look like a clown but I want you to look done up. I think you could always go with the natural look but my wedding is a special time...why not go all out...?
I have to agree with you here. Usually, if I even bother to wear makeup, I go for the more natural look. Ive been palying with different looks lately trying to find "the one" I want for the wedding. I think I may have found it this past weekend. I darkened my browns a little and since I have been "fake baking" (and YES I know its bad for me, but tan fat looks a lot better than pale fat!) my green eyes stand out more, so I added some dark green eyeshadow and eyeliner. Brian just stared and said "wow", so I guess he liked it!
My advice is to toy around with different looks. You have plenty of time to play. Wear your look around for a day and see if you get comments and such. See if FH notices. When it comes to makeup...the sky's the limit!

I don't know if you have ever seen the video to this song, but it shows a daughter at night crashing her car in the rain, and then she calls her mother to come and help her. The video and song touch me so much, and make me think of the relationship I have with my daughter, Amber. I always think of Amber calling me when she needs help, and me dropping everything to run to help her. I asked Amber if we could use this song for our Mother Daughter dance and she said, "this is a great song for us."
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/iturntoyou.jpgI Turn To You by Christina Aguilera
When I'm lost in the rain,
In your eyes I know I'll find the light to light my way.
And when I'm scared and losing ground;
When my world is going crazy, you can turn it all around.
And when I'm down you're there; pushing me to the top.
You're always there; giving me all you've got.
For a shield from the storm;
For a friend; for a love
To keep me safe and warm,
I turn to you.
For the strength to be strong;
For the will to carry on;
For everything you do;
For everything that's true,
I turn to you.
When I lose my will to win,
I just reach for you and I can reach the sky again.
I can do anything,
'Cause your love is so amazing; 'cause your love inspires me.
And when I need a friend, you're always on my side;
Giving me faith that gets me through the night.
For a shield from the storm;
For a friend; for a love
To keep me safe and warm,
I turn to you.
For the strength to be strong;
For the will to carry on;
For everything you do;
For everything that's true,
I turn to you.
For the arms to be my shelter through all the rain;
For truth that will never change;
For someone to lean on;
for a heart I can rely on through anything;
For that one who I can run to....
I turn to you.
For a shield from the storm;
For a friend; for a love
To keep me safe and warm,
I turn to you.
For the strength to be strong;
For the will to carry on;
For everything you do;
For everything that's true...
For everything you do;
For everything that's true,
I turn to you...

Sean and I's don't match. (there are pictures on the last page of my journal). Mine is white gold and princess cut diamonds. His is polished tungsten carbide. We both have to wear them. I wanted something a little flashier that could hold it's own again my engagement ring. He didn't want to look like Liberace. There was no point in arguing about it. We might as well both get to be happy in what we have to wear every day the rest of our lives.

I just realized that, except for the Overlook Room, I don't have any pictures of Red Mountain Ranch Country Club. Here are some pictures of just how beautiful it is up there. You can see why we picked this spot for Amber's wedding.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/bannerA.jpg
This first picture is the golf course and the red building to the right is the RMRCC. It also shows a great picture of Red Mountain to the left. By the way, you will be able to see Red Mountain in every one of these pictures.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/rmrcc1.jpg
This picture shows the man-made lake that is located at RMRCC. As you can see, it is just stunning!
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/rmrcc9.jpg
The last picture shows the dunes, but it also shows a really great picture of the actual building of RMRCC which is where we are having the wedding. Isn't the RMRCC a perfect spot to have a wedding?

Well, Amber & I are going to a Wedding Accessory Superstore tomorrow. It's supposed to have anything and everything to do with weddings. They say, "It's like a Home Depot for brides." We are so excited to see it. We can't wait. Here's their little blurb on their website...
Got the Gown...Now what? At last, Brides-to-be, Moms, Wedding Consultants, and Guests can celebrate. Announcing the "Grand Opening" of the largest wedding and special occasion accessory store in the Phoenix Metro area. Conveniently located just 1/2 mile north of the 101 at the Cave Creek exit, the Wedding Accessory Superstore brings thousands of the most desired wedding and special occasion accessories together for any type of customer. From modern and unique to traditional and fun, the selection of veils, tiaras, jewelry, invitations, shoes, and so much more, in many beautiful styles, sizes and price ranges, adorn the well planned interior of this fun store. "We thought to ourselves...let's just make it easy for brides and others to find everything they need in one place, and in an order that makes sense. After all, it is such a great time in their lives, they should enjoy every minute", says Kim Strauss, creator and co-owner of this mega-wedding accessory store. The inventory is as endless as it is beautiful. The size is so spacious, you might even imagine having your wedding in between the aisles. "It's like a Home Depot for brides. They can build their wedding here...well except for the gown!" says co-owner, Dr. Randall Ball. So when you're planning that special occasion, The Wedding Accessory Superstore will be ready for it. Enjoy your shopping.

Here is one of their actual champagne flutes. They have lilac stems.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/flute.jpg
Here are the actual fans that we are going to put on each chair at the ceremony. They have purple writing with lavender bows. We were going to have the ceremony outside, but, based on the weather:bbredface: , we have decided to move it indoors in the air-conditioning.
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/Karen602/fan.jpg
These are the actual napkins that we will be placing near the bar area. They are lavender color with silver writing. Because of the shine of the silver, it is a little bit hard to see their names and wedding date. The reason that they are cats is because Amber is a cat freak. She has five and still wants more. Also, Amber volunteers her time every single week at a cat shelter.

Well...today we went to the place our reception will be held and got to see another brides reception and decorations. This particular bride had gold as her accent color and her favors were a little silver picture frames with a thank you card inside it, simple and cute. Her cake was so beautiful it had pink and yellow roses and daylilies adorning it. The wedding was very simple but elegant I think that is what the bride was going for. I can't wait to go next weekend and get more ideas. It is so cool to go there and envision how everything will look and we got some really good ideas for my reception!!

And it is so much fun to see other weddings already set up. When Amber & I first went to this facility to see if we wanted it for our wedding, there was a wedding going on. But, at that time, we couldn't appreciate what we were seeing. We didn't know enough about weddings to know what was good or bad. They took us down to the bride's changing room and the bride and her bridesmaids were in there getting ready. Amber & I felt really uncomfortable like we were intruding on her wedding. The bride seemed to be cool about it though. That particular bride was having a dark blue theme, her bridesmaids had dark blue gowns, and she had candle favors. She was getting married on the rooftop garden, like we were going to do originally. She had an arch and aisle runner. I remember she had a beautiful cake with dark blue fake rose petals streaming down it.
Another wedding that we saw was like a Vegas theme. They used actual playing cards for the placecards. They had some type of domino thing for the favors. They had some kind of tree thing at the entrance that had soap, perfume, and washcloths on it. We still don't know what that was for. We almost picked Vegas to have our wedding in, but our wedding would not have had a Vegas theme. We want our wedding to be more elegant than that.
Now when we go to see the weddings, we are like wedding experts. We really get into it now and know what we could use for our wedding and what we would prefer not to use for ours.

Amber & Jason have an appointment on Friday, 4/28/06, with the DJ Matt from Toonz. If they like him, they will go ahead and pay the deposit. We are hoping that he is relatively young, nice, and cool. :cool:
Then Amber also scheduled her trial hair updo run on Saturday, 8/26/06. That is the same day as her bachelorette party, so she can kill two birds with one stone. She won't have to worry about fixing her hair that night and she can get everyone's opinion on how she looks.
Also, she is going to schedule her makeup trial to be done on Saturday, 8/05/06. That is the day of her bridal shower, so she won't have to worry about doing her makeup that day and she can get everyone's opinion on how her makeup looks.
Everything is moving right along...

We've paid the deposit on the DJ, that's confirmed. These are the song selections that are definite. I'll add more as I know them.
Bride's Entrance: Wedding March (Here Comes the Bride)
Amber & Jason Entrance Song: Star Wars Theme, John Williams
First Dance: Sunday Morning, Maroon 5
Cake Cutting Song: Sugar Sugar, Archies
Garter Toss: She's a Brickhouse, Commodores
Mother/Daughter Song: I Turn to You, Christina Aguilera
Sister/Brother Song: Time After Time, Cyndi Lauper
Last Dance Song: I've Had the Time of My Life, Bill Medly & Jennifer Warnes
Sunday Morning Lyrics:
Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew
That someday it would lead me back to you
That someday it would lead me back to you
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave
Fingers trace your every outline
Paint a picture with my hands
Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm
Change the weather still together when it ends
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
Sunday morning rain is falling and I'm calling out to you
Singing someday it'll bring me back to you
Find a way to bring myself back home to you
And you may not know
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning

Hey Heather! Thanks for looking at our journal. When Amber tried on her dress, I told her she looked like a princess. She said that was the look she was going for and so that was the dress. She really does look like an angel in it. She is going to be absolutely beautiful when she comes down that aisle. Jason is going to die. I have it at my house, and occasionally, when Amber comes over to visit with me, she will try on her dress. It's so much fun!
Sometimes when my grandbaby is over here visiting me, I will try on my dress, and dance with him. I always tell him that this is the way we are going to dance at Auntie Amber's wedding. He just laughs and laughs when we dance. I just love spending time with him.

I have been looking for servers as well. My serving glasses are engraved and I want my servers to be engraved as well. Where is the Starlight Collection?
Thanks for asking, Kacie. The Starlight Collection is reminiscent of your favorite fairytale as pearls and Swarovski Crystals adorn the pieces of this collection.

We purchased the Starlight Collection from Marilyn's Keepsakes. Here is the weblink where they can be found... http://www.marilynskeepsakes.com/shopping/prod_catalog/prod_search.asp

Amber & Jason Entrance Song: Star Wars Theme, John Williams
I thought this was funny! Jason and I are using this song as our recessional after the ceremony. Just wondering why you picked this one...we picked it because we met playing a Star Wars game! :)
I just love everything! The invitations are on such BEAUTIFUL paper and the flowergirls' dresses with the petals in them! Oh! Those are to die for! I just love the austrian crystal set and everything...and, call me jealous, but you have a Bridal Superstore? I want one! :)
Everything looks so beautiful! It's so neat to see it all coming together! And you guys are so lucky you can plan it all together like this! I wish my mama was closer so we could have done more together, although she did a TON even with the three hour drive. Wait a minute, did I just say I wish my mother was closer? Oh dear, I think I need to have my head examined.

They are using the Star Wars theme because Jason is a Star Wars freak. He is so funny. Actually, the Bridal Superstore turned out to be not so super. They just said all that stuff on their website to get people to go out there. We wrote them a scathing email and told them it was deceptive advertising. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/sauer/angry-smiley-030.gif We told them we wanted our gas money back for the wasted trip. What you said about your Mom was so funny! Thanks for saying nice things about our journal, Kelli!

I also saw your dress, Heather, and it is very pretty! I bet you look sensational in it. Take care, sweetie, and thanks for your kind words!
Hey Karen,
This is really getting so exciting. My mom is finally coming around, and called today, wants to get together to plan things, just she and I. I can't wait!!!
I was dancing w my son this last weekend to show him how to two-step w my mom at the reception. We are going to surprise her w it.

Thanks, Shawna!! We were consciously trying to keep the costs down for the girls. Shannon is a full-time college student who is getting ready to graduate with her bachelor's degree. Crystal is a single mother who works her *** off trying to raise my grandbaby all by herself. Tracy is the only one who probably could afford a more expensive dress, but I think she was happy with our choice anyway. The dresses were on sale for $99 the day we all went to David's Bridal to try them on. They were normally $130. All the girls snatched them up that day. They all look so beautiful in them. I just love those girls!!

Those are very pretty dresses! I tried something similar on when i was looking for my dress. I thought about getting it in white.
I'm trying to keep the costs down for my BM's too... Plus give them somthing they could wear again. The top we ended up getting was $135. But my mom offered to pay for the first $100 of each girls top (she is soo generous) then we made skirts and the total cost for each skirt was $45. So everything is about $100 for each BM.

I tried to do the same for my BMs too! After I picked out a similar dress from Sears for about $115. Then the complaints started! I don't have a sears credit card so I can't order mine! I don't think my boobs will fit in it. There is no sears around me. I don't like the dress. I don't like this, I don't like that! (This was after having so many problems with them on so many different levels!) So I said fine, and went to a bridal store. Then my first BM tried on a dress she loved (she was the only co-operative BM!!) and it was $200. I told them all to suck it up, that was the one. Then my MOH saw it and said there was no way her boobs would fit in it either. I got more and more frustrated, so she picked out a $235 dollar dress! In the end, I gave each girl half the money for her dress. But man, (heaven forbid) something ever happened to my Dh and i got remarried, I would NOT have BMs again!!! lol. Too many problems!! Sorry I rambled!! lol

Ok, the serving set arrived. It's really shiny. The engraving is perfect.
This is a picture of the serving set that is located on the internet. I know they made this one look so much nicer than I did the actual one (see below). Maybe I need to stick a flower by mine too, except I don't have a **** flower anywhere in my house. Geez!

I feel for you about the shiny metal pictures. You should have seen me the day I was trying to take a picture of my engagement ring to email to my mom. The ring, the camera, and Sean all almost ended up out the bedroom window before I got the shot.

Ok, Amber & I went to Target and they were having a huge $1 wedding sale. So we stocked up on stuff for Amber's Bridal Shower. The colors were mother of pearl, pale blue, & silver. It will take several posts to get through it all but we did so well with everything.
We got some of these silver votive holders to put around the table. When they are lit, they will look so cute with their cut out LOVE design.

We got a Bride to Be Button that flashes. Amber will be wearing this, and it is really cute.

We got some Bride to Be confetti, and each bag was different. They have little blue and silver hearts; blue, silver, and mother of pearl bells; mother of pearl doves & umbrellas; & the word shower spelled out in silver cursive.

Wendy is the oldest, and them comes Jody, then me, and my little brother Ross is the baby of the family. My father died in 2001 from congestive heart failure. He loved his baby girls, and we sure loved him back.

Ok, for the third time, we have chosen a new flowergirl dress. Hopefully, this is the last one. Amber & I love it, and it will look adorable on Cambrea! And it is only $48.99!
