This is the dress I want. I haven't seen anything else even close. But I'm so nervous about ordering the dress from China. Has anyone ordered their dress from China via ebay?

I was in the same situation... I found a dress that I fell in love with from a seller in China and I was pretty much set on buying it, but my mother talked me out of it. I've never actually talked to anyone that has ordered a dress from China, but there is a lot of good feedback on Ebay.

The only things I was worried about was the quality of material since the dresses were so cheap and if it would actually fit. I ended up buying my wedding dress locally and I had to order 2 sizes up from my normal dress size.

Pretty dress!! I agree with the material questions, though... I have heard some people not like the way the turned out.. Have you been dress shopping locally at all? Honestly, i would try that, first.. Plus its always nice to have money go back into our own economy.. China gets enough of it! lol

I use eBay all the time. And i've heard problems with the finish on the stitching and hems etc. I can't see how they can make a dress for under $100 with postage. Unless of course they use kids in sweatshops. :bbeek:

I've also heard that some companies "Buy" Feedback where they can get friends to buy stuff from them that doesn't really exist and no money exchanges hands but they leave positive feedback for each other.

Having said all that. I have bought some small stuff from China and had no problems personally.

Try looking around locally and take the picture with you to show the Bridal Shops. They might have something the same, similar or even better that you might not notice on the rack.

I have considered this option too. The feedback is always good, but I tend to follow my gut. And my gut says "no."

I know this is a little different but my daughter's friend ordered her prom dress (white dress) from a China shop on e-bay. She ordered it months in advance and it really came down to the wire on her getting it in time... i think she got it 2 days before prom and luckily for her it fit her PERFECT!! Now, i know nothing about materials and seams and such but the dress was really pretty on her and in the pictures.
My advice would be to look around locally and if you're still set on this dress order WAYYYYYY in advance in case of any problems!
Good Luck,
Angee

We have had some ladies here that have been satisfied with knock off dresses and others, not so much.

Sometimes it's a question of -

materials - not what they expected
shipping time - some said they didn't get it when it was expected
packing - I recall one lady saying that it was folded and squished into a padded envelope! LOL
quality - not quite as good as it could have been - puckered in places and the stitching coming loose
moral issues - ie they wonder what the workers are getting paid to pump out these dresses

On the flip side other people have reported great transactions.

I personally don't have any problem taking a chance with buying lower priced items online but if something is more than $300 or so, I normally want to touch it or give it a try before I buy (unless it is a VERY reputable and well known company).

Think of the worst case scenario ... if you pay and you don't get the product or you don't like what you receive and you have to get another dress, can you afford to be out that money? if you can afford to take the chance, then go for it. :)

ETA - I can see why you want to order that dress - it's awesome!!! Very pretty!

My opinion will probably be very different than most, but I just don't trust any product made in China now. Most is cheaply made junk, that absolutely does not last. And after the recalls of CHILDRENS' toys.... we try not to purchase things from China if we can avoid it.
I'm sure you could find a seamstress to recreate this dress, and that way you know it will fit and you can pick the fabrics and know it's of good quality.

I actually just ordered my wedding dress from that same seller! I actually sent him a picture of what I want and he said he'd create it for me. I'm crossing my fingers! So far he has been excellent in responding and accommodating any of my needs! I will let you know how it goes!

I ordered my dress (see my website) from honeybridal on Ebay. I am in no hurry and I told him that...but I ordered it like mid March, sent him the measurements the second week of June (see, no hurry LOL) and he sent an email saying they would start making it right away.

I will post pictures and comments as soon as the dress arrives which should be in about 3 weeks.

honeybridal was banned on ebay for one month for improper listings of its auctions, the guy emailed me right away and explained the situation. That was at the end of April, they should be back selling on Ebay soon. That would freak any person out, but I am so overly trusting...you could sell me ocean front property in Arizona...

I still have faith that I'll get my dress, he still answers my emails. If I never get my dress, then I guess its a lesson learned and I'll let you all know...and I'll add the $145 I paid for it to the cost of my new dress... :bbcry:

YOU COULD LOOK AT THEIR FEEDBACK, CONTACT ANOTHER BUYER BY GOING TO THAT BUYERS FEEDBACK PAGE AND CLICK ON CONTACT MEMBER AND SEE WHAT THEY REALLY THOUGHT, HOW LONG IT TOOK...ETC. Of course, I didn't do that, but it is an option.

For the ladies who have ordered and not yet received their dresses, please let me know as soon as you get them how they turned out. I can't wait to see pics. Thanks for all of the good advice ladies.

i went the route of getting my dress of ebay but i wound up getting it through a sample sale. It was a name brand and i still got it for a steal. See if you cant go to a few stores and try things on and see the styles you like then search that way. I think most people can agree that when looking for dresses many times, those that we pick out without trying on at least that STYLE dress, didnt look very good or we werent very happy with.

I believe the links to the dresses below are very similar to what you are looking for. Also, I think this dealer is far more relyable than the dealers from China on Ebay.

I was looking online for my dress at first, and I found this website:

http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/collection/default.asp?i=41511288470

If you click on FAQ, you can see pictures of dresses they ordered off of Ebay from a company in China and they were nothing like what was pictured. If I was thinking about ordering from Ebay at all, that changed my mind, lol.
I hope this helps. :-)

I've seen those pictures before. They are horrible. I wish they would have ordered the dresses from three different sellers though. It would have given us a better idea. Hopefully none of the ladies that have order from Ebay or China will have that same experience.

What I find odd is that when checking that seller on ebay ALL of their feedback is possitive (99.7% anyway) with only 3 neutrals in the last 12 months and NO negatives. Looking back they did have more neutrals when it happened but I doubt the sincerity of the online store in the experiment. They could have sampled more stores as well.

That third dress is the worst. The first one wasn't even cute to begin (IMO) and they made it even worse! However, I do think they should have ordered from a variety of different sellers and should have ordered at least one dress that was fairly simple. The dresses they ordered were all very ornate and easy to mess up. Maybe if someone orders a simple dress from China it will be better.
