I have to start off by saying how much I love this web site. You girls are great!!!

I wanted to start my wedding journal even though I'm at the pre-engaged stage of the game.

I'm 23 and have been working as a Registered Nurse on the Maternity floor at our local hospital for over a year now. My soon to be fiance is a business owner that sells wheels and tires. Lucky him gets to work from his house.

Why aren't we engaged yet? Well my brother's wedding was in May and Andrew's brother is getting married July 5th. So we have been waiting. We don't want to step on any toes. We did go ring shopping and picked out a beautiful engagement band. Now the surprise to me is the diamond he picks. I can't wait. I'm horrible with surprises so I have been bugging him for details. All I could get out of him is that the ring is in and he needs to go pick it up. I don't know what the plans are for the proposal either. All of that will be a surprise. All I know is that after his brother's wedding I'm going to be besides myself waiting. I know Andy is nervous to ask my parents. He wants to do it the traditional way. We all know that we are going to get married. Even my father. He said the other day that he was going to ask his future son-in-law if he wanted to go fishing. How cute!!!

In the mean time my excitement is on the new car I bought two days ago. I bought a 2008 Nissian Altima Coupe. RED!!! It won't be here until sometime this week. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I have enough to keep me busy with packing up my apartment and cleaning out my old car, but this stuff isn't fun. HEHE!!!:D

I'm also in the waiting phase. We have a lot in common in that area! :bblol: My FH also wants to talk to my parents, etc. and I know he has the ring, but I have no idea how/when he'll do it.

Andy has been so busy lately and I know the stress of our up coming engagement isn't helping!!

I'm sure I'm being a pain in the butt as well...I just can't wait. I look at the ring about 5 times a day...no lie!!!

Andy has been busy with his business and I know the stress of asking my parents for my hand in marriage is bothering him. He told me today he is going to wait until he has my ring. That way the conversation can quickly go to the ring after he asks them.

I know my mom is going to cry...heck I bet you Andrew cries with her. I just know my mom is going to tell my family after Andy asks. She tells everyone everything. Once she sees that ring...she won't be able to keep her lips sealed. Oh well...I've told a few people myself already.

I'm so curious of how he is going to ask me. I know it's going to be great no matter how he does it.

For Valentine's day I was gone to a conference in Albany for work. When I came home he had a table set up with red roses and candles. He made me dinner. That wasn't the most amazing part. He also called up this resturant in Texas to get this recipe he wanted to share with me. For dessert he made chocolate lava cakes. He truely is the best. My gift was a necklace from Tiffany's & Co. It was by far the best Valentine's day I have ever had. ANDREW IS WONDERFUL!!! He is always doing sweet things like this for me.

Just last week he had to go on a business trip for a couple of days and he sent me flowers. The card said...just because!!!!

I am such a lucky girl...I can't wait to be his wife!!!

I don't have the money to do all of these sweet things he does for me, but I sure do try.

I think I mentioned before that I'm a Registered Nurse on the Maternity floor at our local hospital. It's a great job!!! I get to play with the babies all night. (I work the 11-7 shift...ugh!!)

I want to share some advice with all of you to help with your future planning when it comes to having babies.

If you decided to nurse, please read a book on it before hand so you know what to exspect. I can't tell you how many times I sit with patients all night trying to get a baby to latch on. I don't mind doing it, but some women have a bad taste for it and just give up way to quickly. If they read a book about nursing they would have learned that they have semi-erect nipples and need a nipple shell (a device that helps the nipples become more errect) about a month or so before the delivery. This would help the baby out so much!!!

Haha...sorry for all of you who really didn't want to read that, but I wanted to vent my fustration before I head to bed.

On a good note I'll put up picture of my best friend Malinda (AKA Maid of Honer) and I. The picture was taken at a toga party we went to this year. It was a themed toga party...thats why I"m and angel and Malinda is and Indian.

It's tiring, but so worth it. I wouldn't change my job for the world. When I went to school to become a nurse I knew I wanted to work on the Maternity Floor. Right before I graduated there was an opening on the Maternity floor at our local hospital. I applied so at least I got my foot in the door and when I went for my interview, I got the job right on the spot. I cried!!!

I have wonderful co workers, doctors I work with, and patients. Yes, the job has it's bad moments, but for the most part they are joyful moments.


Picture of the day...is from from our first vacation we took together in March!! Oh yea I cut all my hair off!!! My hair looks a little messy in this picture because of the wind from being on the beach!!!

So Andy just called me and ask me what my parents are doing this weekend. I couldn't help but laugh because I know he is trying to find a time to ask my parents for my hand in marriage. His plan was to have me go pick up my little brother and then he was going to pull into the driveway about 5 minutes after I left the house with Tyler (my little brother). I told him this might not work due to me having to work this weekend. Back to the drawing board for him a guess. I think his best bet would be to ask my dad on a fishing trip. My dad has been wanting to go fishing with Andy for awhile now. Its hard because we want to play this off as I don't know about our plans for getting engaged next month. We don't want it to be planned even though it kind of is. I'm still going to be surprised because I don't know the date or what his plans are. Also, I haven't seen the finished product of the ring yet.

On top of this, Andrew has to write a speach for his brother's wedding that is July 5th.

Poor Andy!!!

Kelley wants to ask my dad on a hiking trip. They've talked about climbing a mountain together, but haven't gotten around to it yet this year, so thought that might be a good time (although they haven't actually made any solid plans yet). Seems like our guys think a bit alike! We will be seeing my parents this weekend, though, so I'm kind of hoping he does it then.

I found a couple of really good wedding planning sites to share with all of you.


The first one is called Weddingwire.com. It's a great site to help plan your wedding. The best part is that it is completely FREE. It helps you with finding vendors, keeping track of your guest list and who is attending your wedding, and it even counts down the days for you. It also has list of songs for first dance, father daughter dance, and mother and son dances. I'm definately going to use this site alot to plan my wedding!!!!

Another great site is DIYbride.com. This is for the bride that wants to do alot of wedding things them-selves. I've been look through this site and they have alot of great ideas.

I'm running out of things to do. So, I decided it is never to early to start planning a wedding. So today I started my guest list and I'm already up to 50 something guest. It is looking like it's going to be a big wedding. I also decided to look at some dresses. I've looked before, but nothing really caught me eye. That is until today. I was looking at the Maggie Sottero dresses and fell in love the the Monalisa Royal!!! I think the only thing I would add to the dress is spaggetti straps (for dancing).

So I was wondering what Andrew might like to wear. He mentioned something about buying his grooms men custom suits as their gift. I think the guys should wear tan for that kind of summery look (wedding date in looking at sometime next July). The colors Andrew and I decided on are green (clover green) and fushia pink (flowers only). Green is Andy's favorite color and you can guess that fushia pink is mine!!!

I went to such a beautiful wedding this weekend. Andrew's brother got married. The toast were perfect. The band was great. The food was beyond words. It really got me excited for my own wedding. I will have to share the pictures with all of you when I get them.

Now that Andrew's brother is married, that means my engagement can be any day now. How exciting!!!! I can't wait to share with all of you how he proposes.

I'm so excited!!! I get my new car today!!! I'm also excited because Andrew came over this morning before 7 to bring me my calander he borrowed yesterday. He has planned a bunch of activities around my work schedule. I guess one of those activies is going to be the time he pops the question.

Andy has everything planned out and he said he had to ask sometime this week. So that makes me think it's going to be soon. So the day I got my car he went down to the parents house to ask my dad. He walked in and I guess my dad was standing at the top of the stairs with his shirt off. This made Andy a little awkward. Andy asked him if they could talk and I guess they sat at the kitchen table and talked for a good 30-45 minutes. He called me up afterwords and told me that my dad said no, but I know that wasn't true and he was just pulling my leg. My dad loves him!!!

He won't tell me what they said. He feels that its something special that they share and if my father feels it's right to tell me what he said then Andy wants him to tell me. I respect that and it makes me excited that they bonded so well. My father and I have a bond like no other.

Andy said to me that he hopes he has a daughter so that his future-daughters soon-to-be-husband will do that same with him.

Andy also said that he was so nervous that he wanted to drive by the house a few times...but he didn't. You have to understand my dad is a pretty big guy. He used to play football and people say he could have gone pro if his knees didn't give out. This made Andrew a little nervous!!!

The hard part is done I guess...or is it?

I believe this is the beginning of our engagement so I thought I would share this with all of you.

I went over to Andrew's house after he got done work and as soon as I walked into the house he handed me this note which read as followed:

Friendship
I wonder if you realize how much I care about you...I wonder if you realize that I spend hours thinking about you...I wonder if you realize that I spend hours talking about you...I wonder if you realize that everything makes me think about you...I wonder if you realize that I feel comfortable telling you anything...I wonder if you realize how much I enjoy spending time with you...I wonder if you realize how much I truly love you...I wonder if you realize that you are my best friend!


After reading this note, I went over to him and gave him a hug and said "I do realize!" So last night we went out to dinner with Andy's mom and nothing more was said about the note he had handed me. I ended up staying the night at Andy's last night and when I woke up this morning there was another note:

So here I am just waking up and Andy is no were in the bedroom. I got up and walked into his office and sat on his lap and said "I trust you."

Who knows where this is all leading to, but I do have a feeling we will be engaged soon.:D

I got another note after lunch today which reads:

Love

A few hours later I replied by saying "I love you too." I have butterflies in my stomach. Is today the day?

Andrew did it. He popped the question!!! It was so perfect!!!

This is how it went:

So I thought something was up with all the notes he sent me, but didn't think anything of it when he asked me if I wanted to go hit some golf balls seeing we have a tournament we are playing on Friday and yesterday looked like the only nice day to go practice. Andy had a meeting up at the golf course (he is on the board) so I met up with him around 8. We played the old #10 hole. Then worked our way to hole #1 west. It's a really long hole. Well Andy just couldn't hit anything and I kept laughing because his balls were going in the bunker (which was his plan). So I'm up on the green putting my balls in (we played two balls at the same time) and mean while Andy is drawing a heart in the bunker he just hit his ball into and place the ring box in the middle. So it took me a while to putt the balls in and Andy looked a little off at this point. Once all four balls were in we started to walk to the next hole when I noticed the heart and the ring box in the middle. I was so surprised and I balled and couldn't put down my golf clubs ( I was only carrying three). I have a heard time remembering what he was saying because in my mind I was trying to play catch up to what was really happening, but I do remember he asked me to be his wife and I said "of course I will."

We went to Andy's sister's house where is mom was and had champagne and opened our first wedding gifts. (I'll post pictures later). And Andy's dad called (away on business) and said "Isn't it a beautiful ring!" I said "yes" and he said "It's as beautiful as the smile you put on my sons face!" We all bawled for the longest time. Then we went to my parents house which is a little further away and we all cried there and my mom bought me a bridal magazine. They all knew it was coming.

Then I went to the hospital where my best friend was working (she works midnights too in the sleep lab) and showed her.

So today I'm visiting everyone and showing of my beautiful ring.

Awwww...thanks everyone!!! I'm still in disbelief. My Aunt Karen asked me if I wanted her to pinch me. I said, "no I don't want to wake up!"

My great grandmother who is 96 years old cried and got me crying. She said she hopes to live to see me get married.

You will all laugh after you read this. I had a dream last night that Water Buffulos were after my ring. Haha!!! As soon as I woke up I looked at Andy and told him and he burst out laughing. He said I have an over active imagination!!!

I've been crying so much!!! Every little thing has been getting me so emotional!!! I think it's because as you share your exciting news you are telling the people you love (the ones who love you) that your love has just grown bigger!!

So Andrew and I are going to go get my ring blessed tomorrow after church and then we are going to set up an appointment with the priest so we can get a date set. How exciting!!!


Today I'm going to ask Andy's sisters to be in the wedding. I'm going to go buy them each a fushia colored rose and tie a note card on it saying something to do with them being bridesmaids. I want to do it today because Sandy is leaving tonight to go back home.

So we went to church this morning and we didn't end up getting the ring blessed because the priest we wanted took his family on a holiday. So we are going to set up an appointment tomorrow with him on Thursday or Friday.

As for a date, we are going to set up 3 dates for now. The church frowns on picking a date and having them work around it, so we aren't picking an actual date. We are going to let the church do that, but I think it's going to be in August.

I did ask Andrew's sisters to be in the wedding last evening. They couldn't believe it!! They kept asking, "are you sure!!" I just love his whole family!!!

My mom bought us some silver-ware with D's on them. We badly needed new silver-ware because Andy's is from different resturants he ate at when he was traveling. I guess everyone needs something to collect. None of it matches!!!

I had a moving sale yesterday and sold $300 worth of stuff. I'm so excited. The money I made I'm going to put towards the wedding. That isn't even the best part. The best part is that I don't have to move all of that stuff anymore!!! Yea!!!

We got the ring blessed yesterday after church. I got a little teary eyed. All we could think about was in about a year we will be standing in the same place becoming husband and wife.

I called the church today to set up a date and they said that we can't until we meet with Sister Mary Elizabeth. Andy is on a business trip all week and then Sister Mary Elizabeth is going on vacation. So I guess we won't be able to set our date until the 15th of August.

I have another problem. Andrew and I really want to get married in August. Well one of my good friends from high school and college called and she is getting married on August 15th 2009. She asked me to be in her wedding. I said yes, but now I don't know if I will be able to handle her wedding and mine at the same time. How am I going to take all that time off next year?

I never thought I would be interested in a gown that is two piece, but I love it. If I get this dress I'm going to have someone make me a costume made skirt to wear with the top on our honeymoon. It's a dress you could wear twice and this way I wouldn't need to buy two!!! Always a plus!!!!

I'm falling in love with that last one I posted!!! I just found out it's called Brittanya!!! It's like it's ment to be. I never thought I would be interested in a gown that is two piece, but I love it. If I get this dress I'm going to have someone make me a costume made skirt to wear with the top on our honeymoon. It's a dress you could wear twice and this way I wouldn't need to buy two!!! Always a plus!!!!

Mine is also 2 pieces (also Maggie) and I think it's great too! They can be altered separately and maybe just maybe I could wear just the top at one point. Also I don't know about yours, but with my skirt having its own waist band under the top it make the dress feel not so much like it's pulling on me (since it's pretty heavy!)

So I was pretty upset to recieve the e-mail that the dress I was falling in love with was sold over the weekend. I would have purchased it if my mom was there when I tried it on. I am my parent's only daughter and it's important to me that my mom gets to share in the wedding planning with me. I just love this place. So I was thinking of doing some lanterns as the centerpieces!!! If anyone knows where I can get some cheap lanterns please let me know!!!

The view is the best part!! Also it's kind of outside, but sheltered by the rain. It was raining while we were there so we got to see how much the rain came in and really it was only on the one side!!!

Thank you for all the kind replies!! We called and booked the reception place. The wedding planner is working on the contract for us. The reception place is pretty expensive, but Andy's parents offered to pay for that. Which is so kind of them to do!!!

Also, I golfed yesterday with Mrs. Duso and Mrs. Duso's best friend yesterday. Molly (Mrs. Duso's best friend) is going to through the bridal party a bridal lunchin the friday before we get married. What a sweet thing to do!!!

The bad news is that the band we would love to have wants us to pay $9,000. That is doubled their price to travel to where we live. We can't figure out why it's so expensive to travel 3 hours away compared to 2 hours away. This is a little too high for us, so we are back to searching for bands!! Oh well, if it is ment to be it will happen.

I don't know how I'm going to choose a dress. I don't know what I like and don't like. Everything seems like a blur. I've tried on over 30 dresses (3 different stores). Below are links to the dresses I like so far, but I don't know if any of them are the ONE!!! I don't want to settle until my heart is telling me that it's the dress. You only do it once!!! I asked my future husband to go online tonight (he is away on business) and to e-mail me a few dress styles he really likes. I might even try dress shopping by myself tomorrow for a change. I just really want to find my dress so I can order it. Mom wants to start paying for it right off so it's one less thing to worry about.

I found my dress!!! It's so perfect and has a perfect story to go with it. I have been so fusterated with the dress hunting. I didn't know what I really wanted or what looked the best on me. So I went shopping at this store that I heard great things about yesterday by myself. I tried on about 20 dress if not more that day. Well I brought my mom back today to look at some of the ones I liked that I tried on yesterday. Well mom wasn't really crazy about them expect one (which I wasnt' crazy about). So I was heading out of the store when I noticed one of the dresses in the window. I went back in the store and asked the lady if I could try that one on. She even let me crawl up into the window to get it. I went down to the dressing room and tried this one on and fell in love with it. I knew it was the dress because my mom started to cry, which made me cry. It's so perfect!!!

Andy and I just got back from Boston. It was a wonderful weekend away. Boy did I need one. Work has been on the crazy side. My co-workers are driving me crazy. I'm thinking about doing a job change. I took a test to see how happy I really was with my job and it wasn't good. I'm going to try to apply for a doctors office, but if that doesn't work out I'm thinking about doing something in the wedding industery. It should be fun!!! I don't want a job because it pays well, but a job that I can get excited about before going into work.

So I haven't really mentioned anything else other then the attire for the wedding so I tought I would fill everyone in on other details of the big event. We have been working on the guest list. We are finding this difficult, but it looks like we will have to be stern on no children and only allowing who is on the invitation to the wedding. We can't have the added people because our guest list is already way over by about 80 people. (Keeping our fingers crossed that about 80 won't show up!!!) Tonight Andrew and I are going to pick out our save the dates. We just got back from a trip to Boston and while we were there we had our picture taken on a Duck Tour and it turned out so well that it is now our engagement photo (saved alot this way). I brought in our engagement announcement to the newspaper building yesterday. It wasn't in the newpaper today so hopefully next Tuesday!!! We ordered all the lanterns for the tables today...about 36 of them. Believe me when I say they weren't cheap. I dont' know what we are going to do with 36 lanters after the wedding. I also decided on the centerpieces for the cocktail hour tables. They are really simple and look really pretty. They are glass bowls with glass stones on the bottom with a single fushia pink rose floating on top of the water with rose petals around the glass bowl and candles. I'm finding it hard because are venue is three rooms plus the bathroom to decorate. The laterns will save us alot in the long run I hope because we won't have to spend alot of the flowers. Another thing we are working on is band, photographer, and videographer. How much is the norm to spend on these things? Any ways, we are enjoying living together. I'm actually calling the house home now!!!

Our engagement was announced in the newspaper today!!! Yeah!!! Also, my corset I ordered to wear under my gown came in today. It fits like a dream. I'm going tomorrow to order my save the dates and then try my dress on with the corset to make sure all the lines line up. 374 more days...I'm so excited. I also asked one of my junior bridesmaids to be in the wedding tonight. Her father was more excited then she was, but she was excited as well. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

So here is a better picture of me in my wedding dress. I ended up having to buy a different corset because the first one was too high up in the back. I didn't send back the 1st corset because I'm sure I could always use it for either boudoir photos or the honeymoon (maybe both). My hair is much longer now as well!
