You can use any colors you want! I think brown and turquoise would look great.

I think brown and turquoise would be beautiful!!! I think there's a fairly new thread about "pool" and "chocolate" as wedding colors... might want to check that out for inspiration.
And welcome!

do you think the colors are too dark for a spring wedding? a friend of mine mentioned the use of lime green & yellow, which i think are nice, but since i had everything set for brown & torquoise since it was suppose to be a fall wedding, now i dont know what colors to change it too. im not even sure i want to change the colors.

Nope, I don't think they are too heavy for a spring wedding, since you have the turquoise! Turqoise is very bright and cheery, perfect for a spring wedding!
Lime and yellow are pretty, but do you really want to make your bridesmaids wear those colors? I was a yellow bridesmaid once, and though I never complained to the bride herself about it (it's her special day, after all), I looked awful.

I don't think it'll be too dark at all. Make the turquoise the dominant color, accented with the brown. It'll be very pretty. :)

well im not having bridesmaids, only a maid of honor. we are having a small family wedding. i have 3 kids and have been engaged to my fiance for 2yrs, so we are not having a huge wedding. besides i am not a big party person. but my fiance did warn me that he was not having lime green or yellow anywhere on his tuxedo!!!

I love the color combo and think it would be fine in the spring. If you wanted to brighten it up a bit more, you could use maybe pink flowers or something like that to add a little extra punch of color.

I am having a spring wedding March of 2009. My colors are royal blue, white and a splash of silver. Not really your typical "spring" colors if you ask me but ya know what I dont care lol. I say go with the darker colors if its what you want. I think the darker colors would look great in a spring wedding you could even have a fall themed wedding in the spring if you really wanted to.

thank you, that is exactly what my fh told me, that i should use the colors i want no matter what anyone else thinks!!!! i was just thinking that it may look tacky because of the dark brown, but you know what you're very right, i shouldnt care what anyone else thinks. thanks to all of you!!!!!!!

Interestingly, when I ordered my wedding gown a couple weeks ago, there was a sample bridesmaid dress at Alfred Angelo done in this color combo. It was a simple, strapless, kneelength dress (very cute) in turquoise with a band (maybe 2" wide) of chocolate brown at the top, and then a wider (maybe 4" or 5") band of the chocolate brown at the hem. It was a great combination, and a very wearable dress.

I friend of mine is doing the same color combo...she found turquoise dresses with a brown sash and trim that are beautiful. I'm doing dark red and black for a spring wedding, so I don't think any color is off for a season as long as they are the colors you want.
