I've got two cats: Oscar and Vera. I got them last December from a rescue shelter when they were about 8 weeks old. They were part of a litter of 6, I believe, but the mother died soon after giving birth to them and most of the kittens didn't survive either. So they were a little malnourished when they were younger and smaller than they should have been, but they are doing well now.

Oscar is the white one. He is very curious and rambunctious. He never listens to anything you say and has to always be in the middle of the action (e.g., jumping on the counters to see what you're cooking, jumping on the desk to try to unplug the computer, etc.). He also will meow for no reason, especially if he knows you are in the house but he can't see you. He is usually the aggressor when playing with Vera; she's usually on the defensive.

Vera is the orange one. She is shy and quieter (she only meows when she's hungry and right after I get home - I like to think she's telling me about her day). She always stays out of trouble and is constantly giving Oscar that "You're going to get yelled at for that" look. She's more independent than he is.

What I love most is how they are best friends. It's rare to see them sleeping by themselves and they help each other take baths by cleaning the places the other can't reach that well (like the ears and face). It's too cute.

Everyones pets are so cute! I absolutely love this thread!!! We have entirely too many pictures of our puppy (she just turned 3 in Feb., but she still has a little puppy face). First off.. My Angel Rain. Shes about 8 years old now... Hates anything with four legs because it takes attention away from her. Yes, she is that spoiled. We call her 'Fats' for short.. I think she thinks thats her real name half the time.. o.o; We found her outside of Kmart.. These people were trying to get rid of their kittens so their dog wouldn't get them..

Topaz (back) and her daughter Citrine. I separated Topie and her mate Sniff after their first litter was weaned, and left Citrine and one of the other girls in as cagemates with their mother. Citrine is a huge help with her mom's new litter of six. Very protective...

Lily and Sunny found a home with Big Daisy. Daisy had lost her cagemate Peach to pneumonia, so it was a perfect fit to place the other two girls from Topaz's litter in with her as cagemates.

In total we have sixteen gerbils (including the newborns), one hamster, one ferret, two birds, and a gecko (Draco, belongs to my FH, and is horribly camera shy). It's a madhouse, but we both love it.

Before I moved to California, Mom and I had pet gerbils. But they aren't allowed here. :sob: Apparently, if they get loose, they'll destroy the crops or something. But there are crops in most other states, and we were allowed to have gerbils there...

He was the coolest cat ever! He would sit on the closed potty and watch me brush my teeth in the mornings, sit on my shoulder while I was on the computer (we have one of those really high backed computer chairs and I'm short so he would lean against the back of the chair) and gnaw at my necklaces. He also had this weird habit of never eating his cat food dry. He would scoop a few into his water bowl, wait a couple seconds and then eat them paw to mouth. Such an odd one my Destiny was :grinhappy:

FH hates cats with a firey vengeance but I know when we move in together he's going to come around 'cuz I am so getting a kitten. And nobody can resist kittens. They're too cute. :whoohoo:

Actually, it's not illegal to own a ferret in California...just illegal to sell them there.

Yeah, but rats, and hamsters are still ok and in most cases they are not fixed. Ours is neutered and decented. Most breeders do that before selling them.

They are worried about them establishing a population and killing local species. Also, rabies vaccines used to be harder to find.

OMG I LOOOOVE your pets! We had shelties when I was young and I still adore them. Are they good babies? I know some of them can be yippers or nippers. They are freakin ADORABLE! And the kitty is beautiful. Flame pooints with blue eyes are some of the prettiest cats around. I'm jealous!

rooder or roo-bear to his mommy, is our little naked boy. when we got him a month and a half ago from the local shelter, he had flea bites so bad he was chewing and scratching all his hair out. he still chews but i think its just a habit now since we haven't been bitten in a while and the cat doesn't itch. we have sanitized the whole house and he gets special treatment baths every week. we need to get him one of those satellite collars!! but he's still a very happy boy he is about four months old (him in his new shirt so he doesnt get chilled and all the wedding stuff in the background)

He was the coolest cat ever! He would sit on the closed potty and watch me brush my teeth in the mornings, sit on my shoulder while I was on the computer (we have one of those really high backed computer chairs and I'm short so he would lean against the back of the chair) and gnaw at my necklaces. He also had this weird habit of never eating his cat food dry. He would scoop a few into his water bowl, wait a couple seconds and then eat them paw to mouth. Such an odd one my Destiny was :grinhappy:

FH hates cats with a firey vengeance but I know when we move in together he's going to come around 'cuz I am so getting a kitten. And nobody can resist kittens. They're too cute. :whoohoo:

We added a new member to our brood this weekend. I was browsing the pups at the shelter and saw this poor little guy with a really bad skin rash. This was NOT a no-kill shelter, so I knew he wouldn't have a chance without our help. He was nippy and shy, but I had high hopes. Yes, I am wondering is he has some beagle or maybe lab in there since obviously he didn't get his height from a Dachshund, but his snout and really long body look just like the Dachshunds I have seen (I worked as a vet tech for years before becoming a nurse).

these are our cats, my husband is not a cat person, he has grown up always having a dog, but he has come around, the black cat acts like a dog lol, we got them for the kids but they have claimed us for themselves, the kids named them, they are brothers, same white markings just ones orange tiger and the other is black tiger, I have seen some pictures of cats in the bathroom sink in here, my Hailey loves sleeping in our bathroom sink as well, you turn the water on to get her to move and she just lays there, these pictures are about a year old, they will be 3 in Sept.

We just got Bo on Friday at the animal shelter. He had been there since the beginning of Sept. and went on death row a few days before we got him. He's about a year and a half, and they said he's a Beagle but everyone else thinks he has hound in him too. He's really friendly and playful.

This is my baby, Blossom, she is a silver doll face, she was soooo sick when we took these, this was the night before she went to the Vet and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her..she had gotten down to 5 pounds (she is a petite cat, but that was just way to small) but they guessed at what was wrong with her and I guess they got it right because she is back up to 7 pounds and much prettier now, I'll have to get some more pics up once I get her back from my mom!

Well the harness isn't 100%. Hunter pulls me every time we go on a walk. We ended up getting a choke chain. He still pulls but less than with that harness. He doesnt play well with other fury pets so when it's vet time, I still use the harness. He's a sniffer, as are all beagles, so with the harness he gets to do what he wants. The choke chain I find is better for "control". But after a few chokes he figures out that it's time to walk and not pull his momma! lol

These are my babies. Kairi (white with black) is 6, and Namine and is 5. My fiance got Kairi from a pet store when she was just a kitten. He felt bad for her, because they had her locked in a cage surrounded by barking dogs and she was shaking. When we moved in together in 2006, we adopted Namine from the SPCA so Kairi would have a friend during the day. It took a little bit, but now they cuddle and sleep next to each other on the chair.

Little story about Namine. Before we moved to NH, I lived in MA with my parents. We had a dog, who was 14. She had lots of problems, as most Shih Tzu's do, and my parents had her put to sleep before it got too worse. It was really bad, or else they wouldn't had done this. I was heart broken. We had her since she was a puppy; I watched her be born. When we moved, we adopted Namine, and I swear she has my dog's soul in her. She does some of the same things my dog used to do. She fetches and drops it 10 feet away when she brings it back, she sleeps next to me at night. I know some people don't believe in this thing, but I definitely do.

^The first picture is of FH's and I cat,Edward.He can be a brat sometimes but he loves his mommy :yesnod:.The second is a picture of my rabbit,Holden.FH and his dad stopped at a paint shop one day after work and the guy had a box of kittens inside the store for free so FH brought Edward home with him for me.I bought Holden a month or so ago from a local pet shop.

I used to have a bearded dragon living at home, then he lived at my house when I moved out, now he lives with my brother at his house. I would totally get another one, they are so affectionate and great pets!

Second is Callie, my black and white Manx (tail-less cat), who is mommy's 5 year old diva.

Lastly, is my newest lil baby, Brownie who is an almost 6 mos old Torti Persian. Let me tell you, that cat has some serious sass!

These are my four kittens I bottle raised. I found them at probably about 12-18 hours old. They had been cleaned off, but still had their embillical cords. They were scattered around the barn, no two in the same spot. All crying. I gathered them up and put them in some blankets w/ a hotwater bottle and left them for another 5 hours, checking on them every hour...and nobody claimed them so I took over. Luckily I have a very understanding employer, because I had to feed them ever 3 hours at the start (just like any other baby)They're 4 months old now, but these pictures are just too darn cute!!!

and Anna is a bouvier/yellow lab mix--she's about 12 weeks in this picture...she's over 70lbs now (at 7 months!)
