hi girls

I am a September bride. However, we will be having an outdoor wedding in the mountains and the leaves will already be changing. Being in the mountains it will also be chilly. What do you think of this dress
file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/LAUREN%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-4.jpgsorry it wont let me post images because im new (that sucks)
if anyone wants to still see search for eternity gowns, click on sacred ocassions, and then look at the dress with the dress with the venitian lace at waist, neck and cuffs
i would appreciate it

Is this the dress you're talking about? (http://www.eternitygowns.com/assets/occasions/EB002.htm)

Not my usual style but as long as you like it that's all that matters.

Personally, If I were having an outdoor wedding in the colder months, I would get a strapless dress (I just love a strapless <3) with a wrap or cloak (http://www.fashionsintime.com/html/wedding_cloaks.html) because I'm not a fan of sleeves and have a bit of a dramatic side :grinhappy:

I agree; it is a pretty dress, but not my style.

Are you going for a more conservative look or just worried about the weather and want sleeves?

If you just want the sleeves, something like this is nicer IMPO -

I found it in an image search for long sleeve wedding dresses ;) Looks like it is or was from an eBay listing, but I didn't look at the site it was on, I just got the image URL to post here.

If Vannadear does have the right link to the dress then i'm sorry but that's more like a shroud.
Here in the UK we bury people in dresses like that. I've worked in a mortuary so i know these things.

Sorry if this upsets anyone here who likes the dress but this is just my opinion.

As for covering arms and the pics that Weblady showed. I personally like the first one.

Oooh, I agree with the masses, that third dress Weblady posted is gorgeous!

It's a bit plain and chaste, IMO. I mean, yes, the virginal bride thing is a nice idea, but you also want to be comfortable and feel like YOU on your wedding day.

If modesty is an concern, I think the gowns Weblady posted are much better (that third one is beautiful!).

Why not get a cape over any dress you want to keep warm?

Something like this is cute:

Thank you for your opinions ---

One, i am slightly concerned about temperature, because it will be chilly, but I feel the location would look odd with a cape or something regal like that, and i am a bit clutzy with wraps and plan on lots of dancing, also, it is not really cold enough for a cape or the like.

I was looking for a very simple, slim dress that is nipped in the waist but without a full skirt (just full enough to dance and move in) no train, no beading.

Also, my fiance is mormon. Although I am not mormon and that is not a major part of our relationship, I would like to respect mormon modestly traditions at our wedding, especially for some of his older family members.

I love the dress, and the only thing I might consider changing was the neckline (it is very high) but other than that the nipped waist and shape really suits me.

I am a little worried about it making me look like a little girl, because i am a young bride even though i am moderately tall.

Thanks

Oh, if you're doing the Mormon wedding thing, that dress is great! A lot of Mormon dresses have cap sleeves, and they rarely look good.

For awhile, I was toying with the idea of having a long-sleeved wedding dress, because I am old-fashioned and I love sleeves!

Have you also checked out Latter Day Bride? There are also some pretty dresses in the long-sleeved section...

I am not a big fan of anything with sleeves, and my dress is totally non-traditional, but I LOVE the dress you posted. I do think the neckline is high, but I think it is beautiful. There is something about it, and I can't put my finger on it, but I think is is great.

I actually think the dress you chose is very pretty. Yes, it is very modest, but I like that it has pretty details like the organza overlay and the lace at the waist. I think this dresses it up without overdoing it and makes it very soft and flowy.

ETA - I just browsed the site you posted and think this one is very pretty too!

Dear Rosie, Kelly, and Leslie:

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. I have to admit, I freaked out a little when most of the other posters made fun of my taste. My best girlfriend says i dress a bit like a frumpy mother, so i panicked. Rosie, also, thank you for the site, i was actually able to get the dress less expensively through it. thank you very much!!

Lauren (BTW my fiance saw a picture and loves it)

I just wanted to say that I don't think anyone was making fun of your taste. It's just that we all have different tastes :) My best friend called my dress frumpy and boxy but honesty, I didn't like her dress at all! LOL It just shows that you can be best of friends with someone and have differing opinions.

I like your choices. I also like sleeves. It's your day, gal - you wear whatever is going to make you feel beautiful! Don't worry about winning everyone's approval :)

i didn't mean to say anyone was making fun of me. I wasn't offended at all, I just didn't know how else to say that i had panicked that i might have really picked out a grandma dress, lol. thanks girls

LOL but I did pick out grandma's dress. It's no wonder my friend didn't like it ... this is the pic that I sent her. Admittedly it does look rather frumpy ...

and this is the dress on - still modest ... still old fashioned (it's actually an antique) but hey, that was the look I was going for :)

I was considering wearing my great grandmothers 1920s dress, but unfortunately, she threw it out recently because she decided she had no use for it.

Awww that is a shame. I would have worn my aunt's or my mother's but I am not a size 000000!!! Oh my goodness women were MUCH smaller back in the 1940's!

I think you are right... I was just talking to my grandma yesterday, and she told me that when she got married (in 1945-ish) she weighed 118 lbs and wasn't even considered skinny at that time. I am 1 inch taller than grammy (before she shrunk) and weigh about 15 lbs more... :bbeek:

Yeah, that's back before they had McDonald's , Burger King, all different kinds of sodas and all this other really fattening stuff. If there weren't any of that stuff, I'd probably weight a lot less now. lol;)

I totally understand! I don't consider myself overweight at 5'8" 1/2 & 135lbs
but my mom was 5'7" and only weighed 119 when she and my dad got married(she was turning 30 at the time) and she used to let us try her wedding dress on...well the last time that we tried it on and could actually zip it up my sister and I were both 11! Lol :bbeek: After that it was too tight across the shoulders for either of us to even hook the "hook & eye" closure.

I think it has a lot to do with preservatives & hormones in the foods we eat nowadays....not to mention all the fast foods (like you stated before) and the fact that as children my parents gave us daily vitamins, lol. I think all that comes into play with each new generation.

So I don't think she is going for a high fashion "modern bride" look ;)

Yay, I'm glad the link helped! I really liked "Santiago" from there, and then I found out FH had his heart set on an island wedding, so long sleeves just wouldn't work!
