View Full Version : I'm worried I may be pregnant...

So, FH and I already have one son, and we do plan to have another someday...but last month, I missed 2 pills in a row. I told FH and we waited 5 days, but we did have sex on the fifth day (we were supposed to wait until the 7th...oops). Granted, we aren't being as careful as we should be since we know we'll have another in a year or so anyway, but I'm still kind of worried because now wouldn't be our 'ideal' time to get pregnant.

Anyway, I continued taking my pills, and started taking the 'green' sugar pills on Monday, so I should have gotten my period by now...but no such luck yet. I'm going to buy a pregnancy test tonight...But I'm paranoid, so I needed to talk about it, lol.

Well being stressed and paranoid about it can cause you to be late too.

That's true, and lately I've been taking FOREVER to get mine anyway...It takes 3 or 4 days after I stop my pill, then I have a really heavy period for a 3 days, then it's done. (Sorry, TMI, I know!). I think I'll still get a test today, just to be sure.

Exactly... it's that whole "A watched pot never boils" thing.... an anxiously awaited period never comes. Try not to stress about it, and *poof* it might show up!

Okay, I took 2 tests last night just to make sure...and I'm NOT PREGNANT! Then I got my period this morning. Whew! I mean, I would have been excited either way, but honestly...now would not have been the best time for us. So thank you all for your support and listening to me vent, lol. :D

Well good... as you said, it's not the best time, so better that you're able now to wait till is IS the best time. :)

Im so bad about taking my pills too. I always forget 2-3 in a row. We use the P-Out method. Not very good, but...That's what it is.

It's also a good idea to use condoms even if you are taking birth control. I was in the process of getting Mirena, but decided against it due to irregular spotting, and periods. It's a 5 year IUD placed inside of you in a 15 minute doctors appt. but it can be taken out at any time if you would like to conceive. Think about it.

Yeah, next time I go in for an annual exam, I'll probably go on the Depo shot again. For us though, we know we want another child in the future anyway, so if we did find out we were pregnant, it wouldn't be a horrible thing. It would just mean having our second sooner than we'd planned. We'd still be excited though. :D

Be careful if you go back on Depo. I know it varies woman to woman, but my doctor told me that Depo isn't the best if you want to have children in the future because it can take even longer than the pill to get out of your system once you stop taking it. I personally swear by my shots, but I don't want kids so it wasn't a concern for me but I appreciated knowing all the facts before I made the decision to use Depo.

Oh, I know. We plan on waiting at least a couple years until I'm done with school.

I'm glad it all worked out for you. I agree with Tawni, you should consider the Mirena. A lot less hassle than shots or pills.
