When should my FH go in and book his tuxedo rental?

Should I go with him to pick out the tuxedo?

TIA,

I went with Sean when we picked out our tuxes. I didn't do much except say yes or no. Sean is apretty tasteful guy. He wasn't going to pick anything off of the wall. It is really up to you and your fiance. I know that in order to insure a tux for all of our guys, they had to be measured and ahve their depostis down 2 months before the ceremony date.

I am going with Mark to pick the colour for the vests. Mark is colour blind so we're worried that he would pick the wrong colour.

LOL Jenn! At least Mark has a good excuse.

I asked Carlo what color tie he wanted to wear. He's aware that the wedding colors are Ivory and Lavender with hints of Eggplant and Pea Green.

He said RED! :bbeek:

Yeah, that matches. :bbconfused:

I don't think I will go with Adam. The tuxes are the only job he has so I am going to trust him with that. He has good taste anyway. I don't know how far in advance he will need to go. Guess I should tell him to look into that.

Steve picked out his Tux last month. That's because we had a coupon that expired at the end of the month and from what I was told, it was the best deal we would find. I went with him, but all I did was help him decide on the vest colors since he is no good at picking colors that match!

That was the one thing my FH had full reins over. I didn't go with him, nor do I have any idea what they look like. He didn't have a say over my dress, so why should I have picked his Tux? Although I'm a little nervous!! LOL... I just told him he should try and stay in the silver color range since the BM dresses are blue and wearing silver shoes.
Maybe I'll have a huge suprise on my wedding DAy!!!

We are also getting married in October. We were told the sooner we do it the better. Also we were told that we would get a better deal. And we did. We did it the last week in february.

WE signed up for a special deal at the Wedding Show. It's $75/person for a full tux, shoes, socks plus the groom's one is free. So we got all the GM plus father's tuxes..
I think that's a pretty good deal.

I know it varies with places. But I used to work for a store that could generally even during peek season (like prom time) could get them in very easily in a month. It was a long shot, but we got tuxedos in after only 2 weeks notice. I would do it probably 2-3 months prior due to the fact all of the guys have to go in and get measured and put down deposits etc. Sometimes men are not good at taking care of their responsibilities. The store I worked at, the tuxes would come in on the Wednesday before the event (if it is on a Saturday). That gave time for everyone to come try them on and if there was a problem we could send them back and have them altered and back by Friday.

Well, October tends to be Homecoming time, so you might want to get him in a little early, but Jason just went in to get his not too long ago and we're getting married at the tail end of prom season...

As far as going with him, I opted not too. I figured all the guys were going, I'd kind of be out of place. However, I did go in before and pick out the tux for the guys and then pick out the tuxes that I liked in order to kind of sway Jason in that direction if he were going to pick a different style from the guys.

Here's a decent rule of thumb to help you out (I read it awhile back and I don't remember where it was). Start at eight months before the wedding for the big vendors (caterers, photographers, reception halls, etc.) then work your way down. By four months before the wedding, you should have all your vendors, big and small, hired. So that's the rule of thumb I went with and I don't think I did too badly. :)

Speaking as male of the species, most of us don't know what matches what.

Speaking as a male who is getting married this October, there is no chance on this planet
that I will be allowed to pick out the color of the tux by myself.
And that's OK with me, since as I mentioned before, most of us guys don't know what matches what.

I am letting Justin pick his, but with some guidance.

I'm like Kacie, Andrew's basically going to pick his own with some guidance. For my senior prom his tux looked good, but the sleeves were a little long, so I'm not using the same place. Yesterday I went to a bridal boutique and if you rent 5 tuxes from them, the groom gets his free (which is perfect for us since we'll need exactly 6 tuxes!). They told us just to be safe come in about 3 to 4 months before the date to order the tuxes.

A lot of places have the policy that after so many tuxes the groom gets his free. One place had the policy that if you get 11 then you get another tux for free. We have 5 groomesmen, two ushers, 2 ring bearers, and 2 fathers in tuxes and Justin so that makes 12 tuxes!

Patrick went to order his today and I heard that he broke down and got purple vests, but dark royal purple. All they had there was lavendar ones and so the boutique had to special order his vests.
