Ok, i know i've been all over here looking and asking for advice..LOL! But like i've said in a few other post here in the beach wedding forum.i *love* the thought of a beach wedding and a winter wonderland wedding. So, when the time does come for me to get married WHEN/IF I do. Which i am sure i will someday. just not right now! :D But i am from Georgia, and the island I wish to be married on (if i still want a beach wedding, and haven't fallen more in love with the winter wonderland theme) is Tybee Island. Its only about 2- maybe 3 hours from where i live. So, if i invited guests to that ceremony & if i had a reception would that be good enough. i don't think its gonna be a big enough event to where family would need to stay over night. its only a 2 hr ride. I KNOW thats a long ways, but really its not like its 6-8 hours away...

Ok, baffled here, but let me see if I can make sense of this.
Since the island is a ways away from where much of your family is (a few hours, anyway), you're wondering if just inviting them to the ceremony and reception is "enough," (versus inviting them also to, for example, a rehearsal dinner, a brunch the following day, etc.....)? Is that what you're asking?
I think it's fine to invite them to whatever you wish. However, even if it's only a 2 to 3 hour drive, chances are people will still spend the night (think about the math - 2-3 hours there, 4-5 hours at the wedding, 2-3 hours back - that's at a MINIMUM an 8 hour day, up to an 11 hour day... that's a long day to go there and back all at once, without staying the night, especially for older relatives, or those with children).
So knowing that at least some will spend the night, you might want to CONSIDER having a little brunch the next morning or something like that. It doesn't have to be formal, and it doesn't even have to be at a restaurant or catered - you could have it at your home, or your Parent's home, or maybe even see if a friend or (local) relative would host it at their home.
