View Full Version : Best edible edo-friendly favor ideas?

I've been wracking my brain for cute but cheap favor ideas, and the "traditional" wedding world doesn't seem very useful as I can't stand the thought of giving my guests something that they're never use and/or throw out.

I'm not a fan those little tulle baggies & ribbons that are just going to be thrown out; I want to try and be as "green" as possible and have a usable, edible favor with no excess waste that would ultimately look pretty but just end up in a trash bag...any ideas?

I was initially thinking of cookies but those and all other baked goods would need some sort of plastic wrapping to remain fresh while sitting at the reception (as I'd be making them and decorating the hall myself)

...any edible favors that can look nice just sitting on their own in front of a place setting? Ideas and suggestions would be very much appreciated :winktongue:

Thanks!

Maybe some sort of candy or cookie in a wrapper of recycled material?

I think you'd have to have some kind of wrapper if you're doing an edible favor. Like Brandi said, maybe use a recylced material to wrap them in.

Yeah I couldn't think of any either...except like Jelly Beans and I'm not a fan of them ;P

Maybe like rice paper folded into boxes or something?

I've been thinking of folding bio-degradable paper into containers but I'm unsure if it would help with the freshness factor...hmmm

Aluminium foil is recycleable.

How about Biscotti cookies (http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.php?s_type=%2Frecipes.php&q=biscotti&Search=Search)??? They are meant to be hard/stale after all :)

What about giving either seed paper favours or putting your edibles inside a seed favour box?

Aluminum foil could work, I do love shiny things after all...but I've never used it to wrap baked goods, does it seal in the moisture as good as ziploc bags y'think?

Biscotti is a good suggestion! but I never really liked them...

seed idea has merit, i must research! Thank yoU!

If you fold aluminium foil properly it will seal :)

Biscotti comes in many different forms and flavours (my fav is chocolate almond!) ... best served with a cup of tea or good coffee so that you can dunk them LOL :)

A little petit four would look very pretty in front of a place setting. They're just fine being set out for a while. This is something that you can even make yourself. They're simple!

I admire your green-ness! :grinhappy:

I am doing flower seeds for my favors. I am letting everyone pick a package of 100 seeds, either black-eyed susans, butterfly bush, and hibiscus seeds. Whatever is leftover will go in my yard:D

my one girlfriend did two flower bulbs wrapped in tulle for each guest to plant...

my other did seed packs with pretty bows and a cute saying...

I'm doing evergreen tree seedlings wrapped in burlap, tied with sisal rope...

looks like this:

the seedlings are from:

nurserymen.com -- they wrap them for you for a fee, but I can do it ALOT cheaper!

OOOPS! Just realized you asked for EDIBLE eco-friendly! Well, they are not edible, but they sure are eco-friendly!
