I am VERY thankful for all of the gifts we received - but writing these thank you cards is a B*TCH! The entire task is weighing me down and I feel like I can't properly put all of the "wedding stuff" behind me until it's done.

So I'm wondering if you guys have any tricks that may make it easier? I give myself a limit...like 4 a night, or however many I can get done in 30 mins...so it doesn't take up my entire evening every evening. But I feel like I'll never get them done this way :( I also ordered some cute, printed return address labels, so that's one less thing to write.

DH said he'd write the ones for his family members...but for some reason that's bugging me. I'm sure he'd do a great job...but it's something the bride typically does, so I guess I just feel funny about it.

Any advice?

Advice? Yep, let DH do it all :)

Here was the formula that dh used - 1+2+3

1. Name the gift

Thank you so much for the lovely ____________. In the case of money, we wrote - Thank you so much for your generous gift!

2. Tell them how you will or have been using it.

We will both enjoy using it in our new kitchen ... it looks lovely in our new living room .... we used the mixer the other night to whip up a fresh batch of homemade massage oil :)

In the case of money, tell them how you will spend it - we will put it towards buying a much needed stripper pole for our bedroom :)

3. Closing

We are very happy that you were able to spend our special day with us. We are so very greatful that you travelled to come to our wedding. We look forward to seeing you soon ..... blah blah blah

Advice? Yep, let DH do it all :) lol :grinhappy: I think I'm worried his family will think I'm lazy or something!

Here was the formula that dh used - 1+2+3That's a great formula, and almost exactly what I've been doing. It just takes me forever to handwrite ANYTHING...lol. Why can't I just send thank you emails? :winktongue:

I didn't give a darn what his family thought. I wasn't lazy - I was BUSY! LOL
Times have changed ... who is this someone that says the bride has to do it? Pfffft .... if he knows how to write - let him do some or all too :)

If I remember correctly - I dictated and DH wrote, addressed, licked and stamed them :) Ok obviously we didn't actually write those things on our thank you notes but DH and I had a blast when we did do the thank you notes. We laughed so hard coming up with alternate things to write. It made the task a little more bearable. Seriously ... there is only so many ways to say thank you for the lovely toaster!!!!

Seriously ... there is only so many ways to say thank you for the lovely toaster!!!!

It browns my morning toast to perfection.

I light my doobies from it when I can't find my lighter.

It's so romantic. Hubby and spend quality time together warming our hands over the toaster .....

with my thank you's, I got them out of the way right away. Infact before the honeymoon. We pretty much split them in half. I felt the way you do, a little over whelmed...But I did go a little over board and worked hours on them..:bbeek:

Here's exactly how we wrote all our thank you cards:

DH: We need to do the thank you cards at some point.

Me: I know. I have half of them done already.

DH : You do? Ok, cool. Let's finish the rest of them tonight.

Me: Ok!

Him *falls asleep on the couch while I finish them*

My nephew wrote all the thank you cards for our family & I thought it was a nice touch. It wouldn't matter to me if the bride wrote them or the groom. A thank you is a thank you.
