I don't know if any of you have a Publix near you, but if you do you should check out their new bakery items!
The one near us just started adding lots more awesome goodies baked fresh daily and even sold in single servings. I was drooling over all the good stuff
Last night DH and I got a couple slices of their "Chocolate Ganache Supreme" cake and OMG it is SO good! If you have ever had that Chocolate Stampede at Longhorn, it is almost just like that!

They also have chocolate covered strawberries and petit fours by the serving now too; I am gonna really have to force myself not to go over there every time I go shopping ;)

They've been running ads for those cakes on the radio here, and I keep resisting picking one up. But it seems a natural extension of the wedding cake work they do. I'm dyin to try one.
Similarly, if you have a Fresh Market near you (they're primarily in the Carolinas, though we have 3 of them here, and they might be in GA now), their bakery has the finest cake to ever walk this earth - the Italian Cream Cake is seriously orgasmic (and you MUST have a tall glass of cold milk with it).

I saw a commercial for the chocolate ganache thing last night and almost ran out to Publix immediately. I'll definitely be stopping by tonight.

It's a chain of grocery stores. I like them because the customer service is usually better in them than other places.

It's the main grocery store chain here. They're based here in FL, but about 12 years ago, they crept into the Atlanta as well. By now, they're probably all over the southeast.
Really nice store, with a great bakery and deli dept.
Thanks! I'm all caught up now. :grinhappy:
Yeah, a grocery store with a good bakery, prepared foods, or wine/beer department gets us into trouble!

I miss Harris Teeter. Now THEIR prepared foods and deli department was friggin amazing. When I lived in Charlotte, I was spoiled.... we had BOTH the Fresh Market and Harris Teeter (and the "flagship" store was the one in our neighborhood). Holy cow... you could go in there on the way home from work on a Friday, and pick up everything you need for a really nice, fancy dinner with friends... GEESH, I miss those stores. We had ONE here, but it closed recently.

Yeah, I love Publix :grinhappy:
Even some of their brand stuff is good, what we have tried at least ;)
FIL works for them, but not at the one close to us.

I did my grocery shopping this morning. I saw their cakes from afar...they looked yummy. Next week is my birthday. I might get a closer look next week and maybe even purchase one.

Okay, I got a couple slices of that chocolate ganache cake yesterday (they didn't have any whole ones when I went). It's sooooo good. They also had some really delicious looking cheesecake that I had to stop myself from getting.
