The married life will be for me a total new life!
I'm living now in France and my fiance in California (it's very difficult for us .. we see us once per three months ..)
Afert my wedding, I'll fly to Califonia (with THE green card!!!!). It's the beginning of a new life. I will speak an other langage, I'll have a new lastname. I'll have to build a new career, to find new friends....
It's a other cultur ..

I already lived in a foreign country, in Germany. But it wasn't very different; I had the same marks and references .....

But I'm not affraid!

It seems that you already speak the language pretty well.

just an illusion! I never speak english with my fiance .... We speak french or german (we met us in Germany ...)
And to speak english is something else than to write and to read ...
But I have 5 months to improve my english! <img>

Speaking English is much easier than writing or reading it, I promise you that. It isn't like French where all the letters make the same sounds everytime. I grew up speaking English and studied French as I got older. So, just start practicing with your fiance. One you move to the US and are surrounded by English all day every day you will pick it up very fast. The culture here is more fast paced too. That might take a little time to get used to.

That is really cool!!

My husband came to Canada from Germany seven years ago. He now has no accent and speaks the language almost better then some of his friends! (thanks to me and always correcting him!) The best way to learn is to use it!! Thats the best advice I can give you! How much longer until the wedding? Is your wedding in France? Or in the states?

Bonjour et accueillir! (Should be 'Hello and Welcome' ... I looked it up ;))

I am sure you will pick up the spoken language just fine, reading, writing and understanding it is a great start :D

I have never been out of the country (well I went to the Bahamas on my honeymoon if that counts) I used to be pretty good at Spanish but not so much anymore. I think I can say bad words in about 3 or 4 different languages though ;)

Best wishes

I am sure you will feel awkward at first but I am sure you will fit in just fine. And the love you two must have for you to move all that way for him is amazing. Congrats!
