We're back from our honeymoon! Which, as it turns out was more of a sight-seeing trip than a honeymoon because we couldn't even hold hands...but that story is to come.
Thought I'd tell the wedding stories for anyone interested.
That morning was nuts - a storm was fast approaching and we had to pack 2 cars full of stuff in order to get everything there. My dog pooped in my bedroom floor. My brother's dog got in one of the cars and pooped in both of our front seats.
Yay!
On the way to the venue, the storm hit. And OH MY GOD what a storm. Tennis ball-sized hail. Straightline winds at 75mph. Rain like you wouldn't believe. It was so bad, we got caught on the highway and had to pull over and stop (everyone on the road did) for about 10 minutes before we could see 10 feet in front of us.
It eventually passed us (thank god for fast storms!), but there was so much rain that everything was flooded. We had to stop and turn around 5 times because roads were closed (and this is IN TOWN...not out in the boonies or anything), power lines were down all over the place (we saw one on fire!), and people's houses were pretty much floating. It was madness.
We FINALLY made it to find a venue without power and a leak in the ceremony room. Both of those things were fixed quickly, though...thank goodness!
The wedding was, for the most part, fantastic. A few things went wrong (table linens weren't delivered on time, things were lost in the shuffle, somehow part of the food was hidden and didn't get served), but I never once stressed...or even cared. I was having a blast. :grinhappy:
The ceremony was short - about 15 minutes - which I loved. We didn't want a yadda yadda ceremony. Jeremy got laughed by the whole crowd at because he was so nervous, he couldn't figure out how to "repeat after me". We got good video of that one. LOL I had to bite my lip to not cry when we were reading the poem/vows....a few times.
After they did the pronouncement, the DJ did a good job by starting to play the wedding march...then skipping it around...then going straight into "Sexyback". We both grabbed our huge sunglasses, posed a bit up front, then model walked down the aisle. People were ROLLING laughing. It was perfect!!!
Dinner went great - as much as I can remember it. My stomach was in such a ball of nerves that I couldn't eat (though I really did try!). Cupcakes...yeah, I forgot to have one. But they sure looked pretty!!! The mojitos were a huge hit, too! (We didn't end up naming them, though...just another thing that we ran out of time on.)
The DJ, though we loved him in the beginning, proved our point and tested our patience in showing that ALL WEDDING DJs SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hiring him was my biggest regret. He told me from the beginning, he'd play what songs I wanted him to, wouldn't play stupid stuff, etc. Keep in mind that he asked for a list of 50 "must play" songs. I gave him that and he approved it.
WRONG.
The very few songs that he DID play of mine were horrible remixes. He played my favorite dance song - Baby Got Back - and it took me about a minute to figure out what it was because it was so over-mixed....with something stupid that I can't remember.
People were even complaining about the DJ. That's sad. Needless to say, NO ONE DANCED. I hated that because that's my thing...I DANCE.
We did do our swing dance for our first song, which was FUN! We did a great job, honestly. I think our nerves kept us from screwing up. LOL
But anyway.
We got married, had lots of food, people LOVED the photobooth (as you can see from the pics!), and then we went home, gave each other foot massages, watched Scrubs, and ate leftovers from the buffet. :bblol: It was the best night ever (despite the DJ's obvious evil plan to ruin my evening).
More about the honeymoon later...
