My mother wears a brace on her left leg as she was injured at work over a year ago and no longer has any feeling in the leg and hence it kind of drags therefore the brace makes it so it doesn't drag (or at least not as noticeable).

My mother has indicated that she would feel more comfortable in a pant suit - which I honestly have no problem with at all. I was just looking at some mother of the bride attire online and they are all dresses? Has anyone else's mother worn a pant suit?

Also, since she will be wearing (hopefully) a pant suit should FH's mother wear a pant suit as well?

There's nothing wrong with her wearing a pant suit if that makes her more comfortable. Personally, I've never understood the hype surrounding what the mothers wear. I told my mom to wear whatever she wanted. And I know some mothers like to match, but I really don't think it's a big deal.

Oh I have no problem with her wearing a pant suit at all (and I did say that in the first post).....I was just wondering if anyone else had had pant suits worn because I can only find dresses online at like David's Bridal, etc. and just wanted to make sure that it would be possible to find a lovely pant suit for her.

My MIL wore a really nice pants suit that had a flowy material over it for my SIL's wedding. It looked really nice. I'll have to see if I have a picture of it somewear.
But I don't think that the mom and MIL should both need to wear pants suits. I've seen both done at weddings.

My mother is wearing a pants suit. She's not a dress person, and feels more comfortable wearing pants. We found her the palazzo (<-sp?) pants suit with the jacket and shirt, and it's more beautiful than the dresses we looked at. Let her wear what makes her feel comfortable!

Again, I reiterate - I have no problem with her wearing a pant suit and was just wondering if others had issues finding any as david's bridal doesn't have any pant suits on their site, etc. I would never make someone wear something they weren't comfortable with, thats just not who I am.

I have found some on Alfred Angelo pant suits now online so I'm glad they exist...

I agree with you, whatever your mother is most comfortable in is what she should wear, kudos to you for being an awesome daughter!:)
As for pants suits, the specialty and bridal shops do tend to lean more towards MOB dresses than pants suits...have you check out your local Dept Stores? A lady I work with bought a beautiful pants suit to wear to her daughters wedding from our local mall. It was very pretty and very reasonably priced! Good luck with your search, let us know what ya'll find!

Check out places like JC Penney, Sears, Macy's. They always seem to have wonderful clothes for MOB and MOG. Both my mom and MIL have looked at pants instead of dresses.

yeah i would say just look at department stores and some of the ladies stores (ann taylor, my mum goes to petit sophisticate cuz shes a little lady, even jcpenney) and just find one that you both like or the color that goes, whatever. i wouldnt worry about looking at the specialty places like davids bridal

Thanks for that idea re the local mall....I'm sure we will find something - I've only been engaged for just under a week and I've been off work with pneumonia so I've been doing some research. We haven't even set the date or anything just was getting a little concerned by the lack of pant suits on some of the bridal shops....but I've now seen some at on Alfred Angelo plus have your great idea too. Thanks so much.

Also, thanks for posting the pics too.

OOoo I love the way a suit looks! Its soo classy.

Anywho - I would almost try going to a department store if you are having a hard time finding one in a bridal shop. Try Macy's or Boston Store. They have great women's selection. And actually, I have a couple of suits from The Limited that look really nice too.

Thanks - I will have to plan a special trip to the states then maybe and get my mom to go to Macy's......we live in New Brunswick so selection of department stores is a little more limited then the states so maybe we will have to see about getting to Bangor or something. Thanks again!

Hi There,

Just wanted to add that my mom is wearing a pantsuit to our wedding as well and she got it at Filene's I believe. The others are spot on... a dept. store is the way to go. Macy's, Filene's, Sears, etc would be good choices to look.

Congrats on your engagement!

No I don't think FH mother should have to wear a paintsuit if she doesn't want too. Besides it's your wedding and you want your mother to be comfortable. So I don't see anything wrong with it.
