I get my ring checked and cleaned twice a year at Kay's. But, I'd like to clean it more often then that. Does anybody use any good cleaning products??

My jeweler said to use a soft toothbrush with soapy water to clean it.

This recipe is for the liquid stuff that you can buy at jewelry stores, wally world etc.
Makes: 1 cup (about enough to refill your original container)
Ingredients:
3/4 cup ammonia
1/4 cup water
1 drop dish soap liquid (which does not contain any bleach - check the label)
Soak jewelry in the solution for 1-10 minutes (depending on how tarnished it is). Swish intricate pieces in the solution to get into the cracks/crevices. Use a toothbrush or a well-washed mascara brush for hard to reach places. Rinse and dry with a soft clean cloth. Use only on diamonds, rubies and sapphires. DO NOT use on pearls. DO NOT combine this solution with chlorine bleach - hazardous fumes will result!

Yeah I used a solution like this on my topaz ring. It turned white. I'm afraid to use it on my diamond, but if you say its okay..it must be!! :D

my mum uses a quarter part ammonia and three parts water and lets her diamond ring soak for a couple of hours then rinses and wipes off and shes good to go

I have a commercial diamond cleaner but I don't use it often. I wash my hands and ring with warm soapy water about 10,000 times a day (I'm a nurse) and that keeps it pretty clean! I would think warm soapy water would do the trick, with maybe a soft toothbrush to get deep crevices if you need it.

As hard as diamonds as they say :) I use it all the time on my rings and it hasn't harmed them yet. I have my rings polished about every 6 - 12 months or so just to buff out the day to day scratches.
Is your ring "white gold"? My rings are yellow gold so I don't know if white gold requires any kind of special care.

I just use warm water and a soft tooth brush in between check ups. I try and remember to take it off before I put moisturizer on.

If you take it to the store, they'll clean and buff it for you, but it's just a quick little clean until you send it off to be cleaned and checked. Otherwise there are some great jewelry cleaning products on the market. But I kind of suck at the 'jewelry' game, so I don't have any to recommend, lol.

Yup, white gold. I don't think there is any special care. Or I should say, I've never have given my white gold pieces any special care!! :ooh:
