Hello all, this is my first time on, and I'm so glad I found this sight, it appears to be very helpful. I am getting married on June 24th and just wanted to know if anyone knows how much planning should be done already. I've reserved everything and everyone I needed, but I still feel really far behind. I'm in nursing school over an hour away from home and it's been really tiring trying to plan from here. Any suggestions on what I should be doing? I won't be at home until May 3rd, and I know that I can be fully dedicated every day to pull this off, I just want to make sure that I'm not waiting to the last minute to do something that has to be done well in advance. Thanks~Dana

I would start looking for a dress becasue if you r in need of alterations or even ordering the dress you want it could take some weeks..

Welcome! Like BlueEyedBride said you need to get a dress pronto if you haven't already. Tell us what you have done so far. I know you said you have reserved everything and everybody you need. Have you looked at florists, picked food, etc? What about invitations? Oh, and I know how it is planning a wedding while in school! It is hectic!

I have a dress, and twelve bridesmaids have their dresses as well, I go for alterations on my dress tomorrow, I've picked tuxes, planned a menu for the reception since my extended family will be doing it, planned the bridesmaid brunch, spoke with the future in-laws about the rehearsal dinner(we are having a leuou), and I've been buying decorations along. My aunt is making the flowers, so she is already working on those, we've met with the pastor and the wedding director, and i've picked invitations, however i've not ordered them yet. I think that's about it!!!

12 bridesmaids! Wow! I thought I had a lot of them with 5. I would think you really need to get on with ordering the invites. They need to go out 6 weeks before hand and sometimes it takes awhile to get them all filled out. I also don't know how long it takes them to come in. What about the cake?

Oh yeah the cake, I have a wedding cake artist and instructor as a cousin and I met with her last week and picked it out, I forgot about that, and I am having a chocolate fountain that a bm is renting for me for a wedding present.

Sounds like you are doing fairly well. I understand how difficult it can be to plan a wedding while you are away at school. I live about 45 min away from my hometown where my wedding is taking place.
You definatly should order your invitations soon because the time for them to be delivered and just incase there are errors in the printing you want to have the time to get them fixed. My wedding is June 3rd. I plan on sending my invites out on April 3rd. It's recommended 6-8 weeks before the wedding to send them. I'm doing 8 weeks because i have friends and family coming from the other side of the country.
Check out the wedding timeline on the onewed website. That will give you a better indication of where you are at with the planning.
Good Luck! Keep us posted on how everything is coming along for you!
