I know alot of you here make your own invitations..Well, I know that you can purchase the box of invitations at wal-mart & other stores as well..some have little disigns & you can use your printer and write on them, and print them,etc... well, is this tacky to buy those kind but write in them handwritten if you do not own a printer...Would you handwrite

(Name Here)
and
(Name Here)
joyfully invite you to share
in their happiness
as they unite in marriage
on (Month), (date)
(year)

I would take them to a print shop and have them printed. That is what I am doing. I think it would look a lot better than handwritten.

to be blunt, yes. Im sorry. It would be extrememly tacky in my opinion and very time consuming.

I think that it is going to be a very time concuming task, and if you are anything like a lot of the bides on here you are going to want them to look perfect, which will be VERY hard when hand writting! Try looking for a font that is caligraphy like.....

Unless your event is very small, and very casual, you'll probably want to steer clear from this idea. Unless . . . you do calligraphy or your handwriting is absolutely beautiful.

However, is the idea of using handwritten invitations tacky? Not necessarily. Think about it -- years and years ago, there were no printers for this type of thing. At the time, all invitations were handwritten. Even today, the printed invitations for ultra formal events have a blank space on them where the names of the invitees are hand written in -- beautifully calligraphed, not ballpoint, of course. :)

Try looking on Craigslist for someone that may be selling a cheap printer. You may even be able to find one in walmart for about 30 or 40 dollars. Good Luck

Definetly, don't handwrite invitations.

No good, no good.

I'm going to sound like the black sheep of the bunch here.. ( sorry ladies) but when my sister got married she did handwrite her invites. She found it to be more personal and her guest loved it! All the bridemaids and her got together and hand wrote them in the color she chose for the wedding. I will be honest and say I thought it was a bit tacky at first but they turned out beautifully. She did only have about 60 people at her wedding though. But if your going to have a large count I would deffaintly have them printed.

Ours have been printed out. I get them next week and can't wait!

But we did ask for a blank line so we could hand write who the invitation is for. That way they are a bit more personal and not seen as totally mass produced and just shoved into envelopes and addressed to the guests.
