I decided to take a run over to Joann Fabrics on my lunch break. I put together my bouquets that I want, but these are fake and I'm going to have real ones. Let me know what you think!
Mine has white calla lilies, dark pink roses and green hydrangeas with green berries
The girls will have orange calla lilies, dark pink roses and green hydrangeas with green berries. The girls will be wearing the color terra cotta.

Aw thanks! The only problem is the calla lilies I got look really fake in person. They are also too big. They didn't have enough miniature ones at the store. Hmm...now you got me to thinkin :eureka:!

I would find more realistic flowers and do them yourself. The ones that you posted look very nice!

OMG i love these! they are beautiful. do you know about how much you spent on them? (if you don't mind my asking lol) i think i would do them myself if i were you. if you're not happy with the flowers i would just find some that you are satisfied with and redo them. you did a great job.

You did a great job. I agree with everyone else, you should def. do the flowers yourself. I'm sure you'll save a ton!!

Those are awesome! I really like your colors!
I was thinking of doing my own bouts' but a friend of Mine & FH mom( did I lose anyone:)lol) has said from the begining she wants to do my bouquets as a wedding gift to us (sounds good to me, she did FSIL and they were awesome!) how far in advanced should I do this? I wanted to buy a giant storage bin to put under my bed for all the DIY wedding stuff? But how soon is too soon to get started?

See, if I decided to DIY, I probably wouldn't use the ones I just made. Just because, even putting them on a table overnight, the flowers got a little bent and didn't bounce back all the way. Not unless of course, you could get a stand to keep them straight up and down.
I'm still unsure what I'm going to do. It depends on how much real flowers will cost. I know I want to do the tall centerpieces which I'm sure isn't going to be cheap for 20 tables!

My thoughts exactly :D

My wedding bouquet is going to be Calla Lily's as well, only the real ones. My florist priced them as $5 per Calla for the big ones. Not bad, especially since I didn't want that big of a bouquet! I think your DIY flowers look GREAT! but I agree, I had bought some fake calla's for the guys bouts, and you can tell they're fake. They are not a pretty silk flower at all.

I agree, they look beautiful.
Here's a page with step by step directions (and pics) for finishing the ribbon wrap for the stems, should you decide to go this route:
http://www.eleganceinbloom.com/handtiedbouquet.html
(another style of bouquet, same site)
http://www.eleganceinbloom.com/englishgarden.html
And something I saw in a magazine, they did this as above, then used a hat-pin (decorated with a pearl or a crystal) and pinned each "X" of the ribbon, just for added glamour.

i really like them. I think that callas are not pretty fake though. Its sad but thats a thought. However, since you want tall centerpieces you may think of ordering wholesale and having someone who does it as a hobby do it. Could be cheaper (heard great things about fifty flowers) or just doing the bouquets yourself and having them or the florist do the centerpieces.

fifty flowers calla package has 30 for 99.00 that makes them a little less then 4.00 a flower
http://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/White-Mini-Calla-Lily-Flower_84.htm
also this is over 250 callas for 799.00 - http://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/Calla-Lily-Wedding-Package-200-Standard-and-80-Mini-Callas_274.htm if you were doing the centerpieces.
my suggestion, callas are expensive, go with FEW callas and find an alternative flower that compliments it.
personally this package is an awesome deal.. when i was doing them, i was having these ordered for the bouquets.

300 carnations and 200 roses.. you can chose up to 3 colors too..

You have a hidden talent there.
Do them youself and think of the money you will save. Then spend the saving on a romantic meal for two on the honeymoon.

It was probably around $20.00 for the two and the floral tape. I tried to go cheap because I wasn't sure how I would like them.

Well, at least I know what the price per calla is. They aren't pretty fake, at all! I know I'll probably end up doing real flowers for the bouquets, just for that reason.
