Have any of you tried making boutonnieres or corsages (with silk flowers)? Since we would have to buy a whole lot of both, I was thinking it might be cheaper to make them myself. I found some instructions for the boutonnieres on michaels.com, and it looks "fairly" easy. But I haven't found any corsage ideas I like yet. I didn't know if this would end up being more trouble than it was worth. I plan on trying it within the next two weeks or so if I get a chance. Any advice or suggestions?

About a month ago, Pat Cattans (a craft store) had a Bridal Craft Day, there were different instructional classes on making wedding crafts - flower arranging, etc.
Check and see if a craft store around you offers any kinds of classes...I think Michaels offers classes too.

I was planning on the same thing, Ashley. Let me know if you find anything that looks like anything explanatory! :D

Thanks for the info Ashley. I had decided last weekend that I was going to do the flowers myself as well. Now I know where to start looking.

My FSiL did the flowers for her wedding and for her mom's wedding. They looked really great. There are books one how to make you own. I have seen some at Micheals here, but im sure Chapters/Indigo or Amazon have some really great ones.
It just takes alot of patients and time. Don't try to rush them. Since you are doing silk flowers you can start on them months ahead.
Good Luck!

Google "Directions to make corsages"
www.save-on-crafts.com (http://www.save-on-crafts.com) had instructions. Basically, they said "A corsage is three bouts put together with some greenery and baby's breath."

I did all the flowers for a friends wedding that we did last weekend ... brides and BM's flowers, bouts and corsages. I think they turned out nice. I have done it before but you can find good tips online too -
