Alright, so I went ahead and ordered the really cheap roses. You can find HERE (http://www.efavormart.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=589) . Yes they are very cheap haha, and alone they would look like ****, but I find that bunched together like this they aren't bad at all!

Well I purchased a 6" foam ball thinking it would be just right....84 roses didn't even completely cover it and this is the result. Please! Keep in mind that my flash made them look so awful :( and made the false dew drops glare white. They really aren't that bad.

But as you can see that's a purty massive bouquet. It is bigger than my head, haha!

Well I figured I'd just go out and get a 4" ball. They tend to come in even sizes at Walmart, which doesn't have a wide selection. A 4" can't be THAT much smaller...right? Wrong.

The roses wouldn't even stick into it right and it's TINY.

So....I know that they are not that hard to make, but the Styrofoam ball sizing is really starting to get on my nerves, haha. I found some 5" balls online and am tempted to try them, but a bit wary without seeing them in person first.

Question! Anyone that has made kissing balls what sizes did you go with? :snide:

Those look nice!

I used 5 inch balls on mines :D

I also use hot glue to secure them, just a thought if your not already using it.

Ok, and the 5" haven't seemed too big, hard to use etc? I know you had a pic of them around here somewhere >.>

I haven't had to use any glue actually. I thought about it but, they are pushed so close since they are buds, and they stick in the foam very nicely. I also left a good several inches of wire stem on when I cut them so they stick in there pretty far :D

Ah ha! found the other thread: http://forums.onewed.com/showthread.php?t=16144

5 inches are a fairly decent size, I also left about an inch on each flower and went in fine I just wanted to be sure yanno I didn't want them to fall out during the ceremony lol

I really like this idea from the thread, maybe you could add some greenery too it.

Honestly, I love it! Are you going to add any greenery? It looks good the way it is, but it might look fuller with a few greeneries in it.....

Great job!

The picture is mostly just for size, it's not done and is not showing the big bald spot on the back haha. Just felt the need to toss that up :grinhappy: because ya the picture is not flattering.

They are too packed to really put in much else. I think I mostly prefer the solid color as well. You can see parts of the leaves around them in small places. I'm not sure what else I'd really use  suppose I could search for random green things at Michael's as a test, hmmmm.

I debated pearls or crystals but neither suits us or the overall feel of things. Pretty "natural" wedding.

Good point. If you want the solid look, keep it the way it is - but fill in that hole LOL.

Has anyone done them with real flowers? My florist wanted $ 50. each and I thought I could do them much cheaper with flowers from Sams. Any thoughts? Thanks dog mom

Yes, it's been done with real flowers. I did find out though that it takes a *lot* of flowers to do ONE ball. A lot depends on the type of flowers you use (how big the blossoms are), and how much of a deal you're getting from Sams (I used Sams by the way and LOVED EM!!!)

Your flowers look great. I used athe 4 inch ball and loved the way they came out. I didn't use silk flowers but wooden one. The 5 and 6 inch ball were way too big for me. It took a little over 90 closed bud roses to cover this 4 inch ball. I also added rhinestones and crystal and pearl sprays.
