:urgh: So she thinks that since we moved near her that she has to cook for us everyday! Yesterday I had planned on BBQ some wings on the grill. I defrosted everything and the bieatch comes over with FOOD! wtf
So Jacob trying to please us both eats her food and tells me to cook and he will eat my cooking too. :irked:
Then after she told Jacob my food was ready he came and told me. I said I am NOT eating her food. He tells her I don't feel good takes the plate and puts it in the fridge. Then as we were about to outside she asks me again ARE YOU HUNGRY!
She reminds me of the MIL in the TV show Everybody loves Raymond

I can see where you are getting your toes stepped on, but lets take a step back, is this REALLY an awful thing? You never have to cook! :whoohoo: (in my house this would be a blessing)
I can see where you are trying to take care of you and your man, and yall are a family and she needs to back off, maybe you can talk with DH and ask him to have a talk with her.

I know that shes only trying to be nice but it annoys the **** out of me. I can try to be more understanding but I dont want to end up like the run-all-over-daughter-in-law

I feel that way sometimes with my MIL, she has done the food thing before (like brought up food to us when she was visiting, like packaged food and snacks) and even though she is just being nice, it makes me feel like she thinks I can't take care of her son. Now I know she doesn't mean for it to seem like that, but it just does. Same thing when he is sick. If he is sick I'll take care of him, stop trying to make him better, that is my job now! lol --- I'm sure it is just a mothering thing, but it does make me feel like she doesn't think I can do it. Even though like I said I'm sure she doesn't feel that way.

lol first off I LOVE EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND that is the funniest show...Mostly b/c everybody knows someone in a family like that!
yes I understand why you would feel like your toes are being stepped on, but how often does this happen if its just once in a while try to let it slide....if its more often and It bothers you FH should take it upon himself to correct the situation. He needs to talk to his mom and let her know that while you both appreciate her wanting to cook for ya'll sometimes ya'll already have other plans and if she just show's up bearing food it makes ya'll feel obligated to accept it...at no time should he talk as if its all your concern it needs to be about both of you and your need for time to yourselves.
Or if all else fails start showing up at her house wth food! lol

She is most liekly just doing it to be nice. She probably knows how busy you are with planning and everything else! Too bad she isn't a GREAT cook!
I would probably get upset too! Maybe you should ask her to come over in advance and you will make a meal. Or tell her next week on this day we are coming over to your house with food.....

It's definitely something that I'd want both my FH and I to discuss if I was in that situation. Because even if he talks to her, he might play it off as "oh she thinks" or "she feels" trying to keep the peace with his mother, but that will only put you in a bad light. Jon may have done this a time or two *chuckle*.
I am very lucky I guess, Lori will invite us over for dinner now and then, but she does not come over unannounced! I can just picture Marie on E.L.R. haha, yes stand up for yourself!
