well I have been on the site for a while reading through other peoples journals and such, and haven't really posted, so I decided I would start my own journal just to keep all of my thoughts and ideas in one place.

background: My fiance and I have been together for 5 and a half years and have lived together for about 2 years now and we started dating my junior year of high school. I'll just copy and paste my engagement story from the holiday engagement thread:

I got engaged this past new year's eve and it was amazing. My fiance did not necessarily plan on a holiday but we were on vacation in key largo fl. and he said that he wanted to ask me while on vacation and he just wanted it to be the perfect time and then he ran out of time b/c we were leaving on the third on jan. so he just decided to ask on NYE. We were on the beach watching the fireworks and afterwards I would say around 12:20 he started acting really weird and nervous which is unlike him, he is typically carefree and outgoing. He cleared his throat, to get his parent's and his sister's attention (they were with us also) and he said to me "I don't want to get my pants dirty, but I guess its worth it," then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was teary eyed and didn't cry as much as I thought I would have, and of course I said yes. He slipped his grandmother's ring onto my finger, it wasn't at all how I had pictured it but it ended up being perfect!

I don't have pics of the ring b/c our camera actually broke while on that same vaca. and we haven't gotten a new one yet.

I'll try to post some pics of us but I don't know if i know how to yet-i hope it works! ok-sorry if they are too small or too large!!

Now with the planning:
We decided may because hopefully the weather will be nice and we want to have the reception outdoors b/c it is a lot cheaper to do so. but the ceremony will be at fh's parents' church- its really pretty maybe i can find a pic. We are going to have only 2 bridesmaids, well a MOH and a bridesmaid and maybe 2 groomsman, fh still undecided, I actually haven't even brought that up with him yet. Of course since the day i got engaged i have been looking a dresses and such and ill post my ideas on the next post- cuz i don't know how many attachments your allowed-if the first 3 even worked!

oh yeah and i posted a pic of our puppy balie, (well shes 3, but still a puppy to us) she completes our little family for now!

-i attached a pic of my dream dress i found online it is quit expensive (for my budget) anyway:bbcry: but i love it, and i also put a pic of a few realisticly priced dresses that i love. but i haven't been dress shopping yet so my ideas could completely change once i start to try things on.

I also put a pic of the bm dresses that i love, but my 2 girls are different shapes and sizes so we'll have to see how that goes

I guess thats it for now my laptop battery is about to die and im too tired to go get the cord

Thanks! I can't wait to actually start trying them on, but we need to start saving before I go dress shopping!

I originally thought that I knew what colors I wanted, but the more I think about it I just don't know. I wanted the colors to be pink, brown, and white, but fh says that the only colors he is wearing is white and black. So I have been thinking that the colors will be pink and white or yellow and white. I'm still undecided. Fh likes just black and white, but I like the whole spring theme and the reception is going to be outside under tents so I thought other colors would look nice.

I have pics of the my inspiration cakes but I only have them saved as a word attachment and it won't let me post, so hopefully I can find the website I got them off of but it will be a traditional round cake-most of our wedding will be very traditional as well.

so I think I had a sign last night that I need to get moving on the whole wedding planning. I had a dream last night that it was my wedding day and I ran out of time and I did my hair myself (yeah right) and it kept falling down all night and I didn't have time to decorate for the reception. It was awful! that wasn't my first wedding dream, but the others were early in the engagement! I actually don't have anything officially done, were paying for it ourselves so when I even start to plan and look at all the prices of everything I get a little overwhelmed and discouraged that I won't be able to have the wedding of our dreams on our budget. By the end of next week I am hoping to book our church and get started with the counsling classes. I also need to get started on converting to catholicism, we will have a catholic wedding and its important to me to convert before the wedding, we plan on raising our children (not anytime soon) catholic and sending them to catholic schools also.

I picked up a ton of hours at work recently b/c I'm done with classes for the summer, for now, I may or may not take summer classes. but hopefully I can get started on the planning so I won't feel as stressed as I was in that dream!!!

I like your color ideas! Pink and white or yellow and white would look awesome in the spring. I'm doing the pink and brown thing. Brown BM dresses with pink sashes and the guys are wearing black tuxes with pink vests/ties. My friend that's getting married July 2009 is using pale yellow. My hall decorations are mostly pink and white with pink BM bouquets. Yay pink!!

welcome and congrats!! dont worry, those dreams scared the **** out of me too!! i had tons of them, you can read them in my journals too :) In one i did my own makeup. in another, my dress wasnt hemmed etc!

:) Im told they will continue till the day of your wedding. i havent had one in a while
