View Full Version : Idea for the wedding
Was looking around at different wedding sites yesterday. On one of them I saw little "souvenier" candy bars with the bride and grooms name and wedding date, etc. Ya know the little Hershey's minitures? They were adorable but I thought expensive. I decided I want them for my sisters wedding but Im gonna do them up as business cards on plain paper on my computer to match the other stuff (invitations, etc) and buy packages of candy bars, remove the wrappers and glue them on myself. Should be able to do 100 for about $5-$10.
Just wanted to share...:p

I think Jen or Gwen (I can't remember) did something like that. If you ask I am sure they can give you some instructions and pointers.

I took the wrapper off one and mesured it out and created my design in Adobe lllustrator. You could very easily do it in word as well.
I put our names and the date of the wedding on the top, on the side i put the flavour cause the bag i bought had 4 different kinds and on the back i put a little thank you message. I used a glue stick to glue the paper together so you can easily pull the specail wrap off without destroying it.
I was going to put them on the table arround the centre peice. But now i am doing champaign glasses full of Hershey kisses.
Good Luck! I thought it was a realy neat idea. It just didn't work for us. And they are sooooo easy to do on your own. I saw them at a bridal show and thought the prices where outragous!

I also have seen where you can order just the personalized wrappers. They arent very much and have the sticky stuff on them so all you have to do is buy the candy and wrap them. You can get these in the mini candy bar size and the regular hershey bar size.

Alot of candy manufacturers are changing their packaging to one solid wrapper versus the paper and foil. I'm not sure about the mini candy bars, but I know that the regular Hershey' s milk chocolate bars have changed to the plastic wrappers. You could still make the sleeve and slip the candy bar into it though.

While it's a lot of work, you could always unwrap the big bars and wrap them in foil; if that's the look you wanted. I had to do that for a reenacment because I didn't realize that they weren't in the foil wrappers anymore. It doesn't take too long because wrapping them isn't very hard and the foil sticks so you don't have to worry about tape or anything.
