I went to a wedding recently where they played a game to decide who gets the centerpieces. What they did was ask one person from every table to take out a 5 dollar bill. Usually people are hesitant cause hey, it's 5 bucks! Then the MC/DJ says they are going to play musical chairs except with the 5 dollar bill. The DJ plays a song and the guests at each table have to pass the bill around and around. The DJ randomly stops the music. The MC tells them that whoever has the 5 dollars when the music stops gets to keep the money! BUT...whoever forked over the 5 dollar bill in the first place gets to keep the centerpiece. Thought it was a cute idea and it really helped get the guests talking and comfortable. Just thought I'd share.

When i got Married the First time we had a Formal sit-down three course meal with long tables. We worked it so it went Male-Female-Male-Female and both Families were mixed up.
Our Toast-Master got everyone to turn to their left and introduce themselves, then turn to the right and introduce themselves again. It got everyone talking.
Then when the tables were moved to make way for the Evening Reception it wasn't a case of Brides Family one side of the hall and the Grooms the other. It was a total mix of guests and turned out great.

The Marriage fell apart after Ten Years but that's another story. :bbeek::D
