With the gas prices yet again on the rise, I don't know about the rest of you, but we are really starting to feel the pain in our wallets. Which lead me to thinking...what is the price per gallon for regular unleaded where you live??

For us, in SE Wisconsin its $3.89 and quickly rising. What about where you are?

Here in AZ (2hrs from a big city) we are at 3.59 for unleaded. Its killing me having to make trips to the big cities for doctor appointments at least once a month in a big ol' truck takes me over 100 to fill the darn thing. Ahhhh I remember the days when gas was .96 a gallon! And that was back in the summer of 99 lol.

It's 3.59 for regular here in Nashville. I'm paying around 3.69 to 3.71 for mid-grade. We were in a smaller town in the state over the weekend and it was 3.69 for regular there and 3.81 for mid-grade.

Luckily, I usually only have to fill up once every 3 weeks or so.

Gas out here is like $3.89 for premium and $3.59 for regular; I am sure it will be going up :worm:

It stinks, but not much we can do about it :bbconfused:

This is one of the reason DH just got a new car; the Toyota Yaris is one of the most fuel efficient cars in it's class.

In Houston we're at about $3.60 for unleaded, but my Beetle takes Diesel so I'm actually paying like $4.15 per gallon. And most of the price is rediculous taxes. :snide:

Word out is that gas is up to $1.39 per litre here today. 1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres so, that puts our gas at approx.

$5.26 a US gallon

Heck, even if I convert the money from Canadian Funds to US funds, I am still paying

5.23827 USD per US gallon

It's not so much the gas prices that make up the high cost but the taxes that the government charges on top of the gas. As such, every time the cost of gas goes up, the government collects more tax. Ummmmmm now how likely do you think it would be to think that the government would do anything about forcing the oil companies to lower the cost?!!!

Nikita706
05-12-2008, 05:06 PM
We're in Northern California and it's $4.10/gallon here.

Honestly, the price really doesn't bother me. Oil is a depleting resource and it's about time that it's price reflected that. I think that really good things are happening right now, scientists are being being pressured like never before to come up with an alternative to gasoline, people are finally beginning to look to alternative modes of transportation (carpooling, buying smaller more fuel efficient vehicles, etc.). Of course, the fact that the spike in oil prices is mainly due to economic speculation and greedy corporate bigwigs makes it difficult to stomach. But even if the only reason people are conserving is because it's easier on their pocketbook, it's still helping the environment, which is a great thing.

Here in good old Sacramento it is between 3.93 and 4.05 just a few blocks away from each of the gas stations! POO to gas right now!

Although, Europe is like 9.00 a gallon so I guess we can not complain we got ourselves into these issues !

Here in Milford Ohio.. 30 Min East of Cincinnati. Its $3.79 a gallon.
But when I went to visit my sister for Mothers day in Newark Ohio. Which is East of Columbus it was only $3.65 there.

I am having to cancel my make-up trial run and engagement pictures that i have been waiting a month to do. Just because of gas prices..

i'm agreeing with nikita's statement. i also think that we should find a way to work around it like carpool. for me, my solution was to transfer to a dirrerent branch which is right down the street from where i live. i only have to fill it up once every other week so it wont affect me really

sweetvenus
05-13-2008, 11:08 AM
I wish that I could carpool, but no one I work with lives out my way. There is a commuter train, but because I only spend roughly $60-$70 a month on gas to drive to work (and scheduled maintenance is free on my car for the first 6 years I have it), and the monthly train passes are $145, it's not really cost effective.

Here in lower Alabama, it varies. One place had it for $3.71 gal for regular but another place (near to my house, Thank God) was $3.56 yesterday(haven't looked today) I think thats about average around here.
This is getting ridiculous, I also remember paying only $1 something for gas! ::sigh:: well I dont think its going to get better any time soon.
But its making us rethink our honeymoon options, we did want to take a trip to north alabama and Tennessee to see the mountains and stuff, but now we are seriously considering a cruise. We figured we'd probably come out cheaper b/c we wouldnt have to pay for gas as well as accommadations, food, sites, etc.

Here in Atlanta, it's $3.85/gallon for unleaded. Hubby and I don't drive much anymore. We only live a couple of miles from our work and we carpool together, so we save a lot of money. Our SUVs do suck up gas, but since we don't drive a lot, it's not so bad. But, when we take our road trip to Canada, we'll be paying a **** load for gas... Only 3 months until our trip, yay!

I filled up yesterday. Regular was around $3.65 I think. Mid-grade was at $3.78. I know premium hit $4.00 in some parts of the county yesterday, though not in the area where I live.

I should actually be putting premium in my car, but I can't quite bring myself to pay that much, so I settle for mid-grade and only put premium in every once in awhile.

I know it's the holiday weekend so lots of people are traveling. It hits especially hard for us here in Indy because we have the 500 race on Sunday. It's really cut down on race fans coming into town to hang out. The track is open all month for racing activities, and people just aren't coming like before. But I know they'll be here this weekend, cuz it's just a HUGE PARTY here! 2 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE RACE!!!!:drunk::beer::beer_smile::kap:

I seriously don't know what the government wants us to do. I really like my job, but its getting to the point where if I gas prices don't come down, I need to start weighing other options because I just can justifying spending that kind of money to get to work - with no raise!

Seems the only way we'll EVER see under $3 a gallon again is if you buy a Dodge. Dodge has a deal now where if you buy one of their vehicles, they'll give you gas at $2.99 a gallon for up to 12k miles a year.. for so many years (3 I think?). I'm a FORD girl, but I'd consider going Chrysler JUST for this reason.. unless I can get Ford to match it heheee.

Its $3.99 here :-( It is really depressing. I don't live far from work but DH drives an hour each way! I really wish our government would step in and do something! But if it keeps going up this fast I am sure it will reach a peek where people just can't goto work because of the price to get there, let alone go anywhere else. $6 a gallon by the end of the summer is like huge inflation considering gas has been around how long and is just now reaching $4, its already like doubled just in the past few years.
