OMG I am in so much pain. I have this horrible pain on my right side that goes from the top of my neck almost down to my elbow. It's been like this for two hours and I feel like I'm about to go crazy. It hurts so bad I feel nauseous! Should I try to move it around, stay still, what?

You want to put heat on it for 20 minutes, wait for a half hour and put ice for 20 minutes. Repeat this as many times as you can. Heat will bring blood into the area, Ice will reduce inflammation. Normal range of motion. It sounds like you have a pinched nerve. If you can go to a chiropractor and have several adjustments. Be careful if you take pain relievers they will mask the pain which is your bodies way of saying stop.

Okay, thanks, I will try the alternating heat and ice. Nope, no pain meds for me. We don't even have any in the house!

Yeah, I was gonna say try the heat/cold thing and try an anti-inflammable/pain killer to make you more comfortable.

Did this just start or did you wake up in pain? Do you think you pulled a muscle or you just slept wrong?

Hope you feel better soon!

Chad and I were going to Whole Foods earlier today and I just turned my head to the side to look out the window and had an immediate wave of pain. Since that moment I have been experiencing a lot of pain. We actually couldn't grocery shop because I was hurting so badly.

Since that moment I have been experiencing a lot of pain. We actually couldn't grocery shop because I was hurting so badly.I had something sort of like that happen to me once; I was pulling out of a parking spot and wrenched my neck somehow ... sucked to drive home!

These things usually just take time to heal; hope you are feeling better soon :flower:

Yes, it's probably a pinched nerve and yes, you can get it just by turning your head. The last time it happened to me I was at the mall and I turned my head. Whammo! Instant pain.

If you don't want to use pills, I strongly recommend one of those pillow-like things that have flax or wheat or something in them. You heat them up in the microwave and they provide deep heat to wherever you need it. Ice packs are also good.

It generally takes me about 3 days to get back to normal, but the 1st 24 hours are the worst. The last time, I couldn't even sleep because every position I tried made my neck/shoulder/arm hurt worse!

Try the hot/cold stuff and make sure that you give your arm some very light exercise. That will help everything get back into position. I helped put away the groceries :).

Get better soon!

Darn it, the one time I wish we had a microwave! That would probably work much better than my methods! First I was soaking a cloth in hot water and using that, but it was getting annoying to have to re-soak every few minutes. Then I just filled a plastic baggie up with hot water and that's been working better.

Uncooked rice works good if you had the microwave. Shucks.
Here are some exercises for your neck. First slowly turn your head starting in neutral position. sorry looking straight ahead. turn your head to the right and then the left each time ending with looking straight ahead. Only go as far as there is no pain When it starts to hurt stop and hold that position for a few seconds then back to starting position. Keep your head level no twisting. That should help loosen up your neck. Don't do hard massage, but if he wants he can rub your neck lightly.

Aww I hope you feel better.

I did this a few days ago, I sneezed really hard and right after that my shoulders hurt for 2 days. i spent a lot of time laying on top of a heating pad.

Thanks guys...I'm feeling a little better know. It's not as bad as it was this morning. The other day my big toe spazzed out and got stuck in this crazy position. It hurt, but I laughed because it just looked so funny.

The body sure is crazy! :grinhappy:

Find a chiropractor tomorrow morning. They are God's gift to people, IMO.
Also, boil an egg, and use that as a heating thing. That's what my mother always did when I had an ear pain.
