So today was my first official day back to work. I forgot (or block out the memory) how much I don't like my job situation. I've worked for this company for almost 14 years and I had spent all but the last year and a half in the same store. The company had to do some MAJOR downsizing in office personel and store management I I was able to keep my job, but in a new store and new position. I was so excited to open a new store but it was miserable. With all the staffing cut backs no one really knew who to conatct about major issues. Now even after being open for a year, I feel like nothing has gotten better. And on Wednesday we have our annual reviews that determine our raises. One manager got a whole $7.00 a week. Since we work a minimum 50 hour week that breaks down to about fourteen cents an hour. I scared to see what mine is. And it's not like i can just find a new job. The MI unemployement rate is like the highest in the country and in my area there have been such major cut backs, and businesses moving that it near impossible to find a decent paying job. My employer was the biggest empoyer in the area and over 5000 people lost their jobs over the last two years. I guess I should quit complaining and be thankful.
Thanks for letting me vent! I missed being able to check in here all day!

Well hopefully it will get better. Like you said, at least you have a job. Who knows maybe there will be a new opportunity or you've recently started doing wedddings right? Perhaps your own business can grow and you can get into more than just being an officiate. See how it goes. That would be fun wouldn't it!

Keep your chin up, Audrey. Kacie had a good point. I'm sure your business will do you good. Just get your name out there and before you know it, you can work your own business and don't have to worry about all the stuff at your other job.

You are both right. In fact business is picking up already because it's that time of year. I'll be luck to have a Saturday off this summer. I'll be doing both jobs until Joe finishes school. He will complete his BA in Bio med next year and then it's on to med school. Once he starts med school I'll have to do both jobs to maintain a decent income. But on the bright side, I do work in retail and the turnover is so high, by next week I could be working with a whole new crew! LOL Thanks for listening, I was feeling a little sorry for myself:bbredface:

No problem, Audrey. After all, that's what we're here for. :p You will be so busy, you won't have time to think about it, anyway.

Well hun after he finishes med school and does his residency and all that stuff that will drive you both crazy it will all be worth it! I am finishing up my BS in Animal Science and I would love to get an MS in Reproductive Physiology specializing in equine or monogastric nutrition, but I can't right now. Good luck to him and good luck to you! I hope everything works out great for you guys. If you don't mind me asking, what med school is he looking at going to?

Origionally the plan was MSU for a DO, well, now MSU is building a campus in Grand Rapids accepting students in "08" but they will only be offering an MD. Joe would rather be a DO but we really don't want to move to Lansing in a couple of years. We like where we are, but we would have moved if necessary. Now with MSU coming here we can stay put. And there is a possibility that they will offer a DO in "09" IF that's the case everything will be golden. If not he is fine getting the MD. And as fot you, go for it as soon as you can. Joe put it off and now regrets that he didn't start as sson as he left high school.

I can totally relate to not liking job situations... I started a new job in January, and it's been less than a dream job! It's so difficult planning a wedding and starting a new job. Feels like there's no outlet in which I can enjoy or relax.. spend the evenings wedding planning and the days at a job I don't love... Oh well, I get paid every 2 weeks and that's all that matters at the moment...
