Key West, FL or Savannah, GA?

hmm for 4th of July he wants me to plan a mini vacation before the wedding. I narrowed it down to 2 locations.

Leaving Thursday returning on Sunday

Savannah is a 4 hour drive while Key West is a 13 hour drive
I found a cheaper hotel in Key West then Savannah, probably about $100 cheaper both 5 star hotels.

I think we would have more fun in Key West but the drive sucks.

Plus I been to Savannah a few times before and its so romantic! But Key West would be so relaxing to hang out on the beach! deep sea water fishing. etc etc

but then we only have 4 days as well, if we leave Thursday night we would get there Friday morning, we have Friday afternoon and Saturday and leave Sunday.

To Savannah we can leave Friday morning and be there by the afternoon.

Savannah! We looked at Key West as a honeymoon option and it seems like there's an awful lot to do that a weekend trip wouldn't really cover. Also, the gas money to add 18 hours to your trip (and the time spent in the car vs. doing something) would probably cost more than the extra money to stay in Savannah. Plus, Savannah is somewhere I would LOVE to go and I'm biased! I think either would be fun, but this is my vote :)

I have been to both places and would rather go back to Key West than Savanah. But I don't if I would want to make a 13 hour drive to get there.

Have you checked flight prices to Key West? You could possibly find flights that have prices comparable to the cost of driving there, especially if your car is more of a gas guzzler. Just something you might look into before making a decision. :)

Yeah, I'd prefer Key West, but the extra hours in the drive are a severe downside.

The airline idea just might work though.

I'm about an hour from Savannah, and while I'd much rather go to Key West, I couldn't justify making that long of a drive for such a short trip (if you ended up driving rather than flying.)

By the time you guys recuperated from the long drive, it would be time to head back, I think.

well we are kind of use to long trips since we have made several trips to NY driving 18 hours non stop (we actually made it in 15 hours) lol

I've never been to key west and am kind of excited if we do go there.

I did check flights and its about $550 per person. Driving 13 hours would probably cost about 3 fill ups and thats about $50 per fill up about $150 per trip so total in gas would be $300. I dont know why its so far and its only 1 state away gez lol

Although Savannah is a nice place there wouldn't be much to do, since I've been there done that. So we can get there early and spend time walking around or we could go to key west tired but with lots to do LOL

Looks like I did find a deal a flight to ft Lauderdale for $517 total for 2 people (the cost of a flight to key west for one person) Then they have a shuttle going to key west for $110 total for 2 people. :D Or we could rent a car for $200 and drive 3 hours :D

well all i need is a bar, the beach and a shopping center to have fun. i'm easy to please. i'm sure theres more to do (maybe jet ski? pictures?)
