I have a rotary type cutter (brand name is Carl - but there are several kinds) - you put the paper in the cutter and pull the blade across the paper vs. the guillotine type - where you pull down the handle and more 'chop' the paper. With the gullotine, the paper often moves and I get a crooked cut no matter how careful I am. But some people wouldnt cut with anything else, so if you could go to your local scrapbook or craft store and try them out for a while, see what feels better for you. (Any good store will let you try their store cutters.) I also picked the rotary type because it has different blades where I can have a deckle or victorian edge; I can also score or perforate etc., so I liked having these options. Good luck!

one bad thing about the rotary blades get dull too quick but thats what I have and are fairly cheap to buy. The guillotine type is more for quantity than quality cutting

I have a Fiskars Desktop Rotary Cutter and I love it!! I love that I can switch out the blades if I need to. They have a bunch of different blades, including straight, wavy, jagged, and even a scoring blade. Mine was $60 but I waited until I got a 50% off coupon for the craft store and got it for $30!

Jacobs Girl - if you cut foil paper it gives your blade a little bit more life. Just do 6-8 swipes every now and then. :D

Sounds like the one I have. Bought it at Costco for a great price.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I found one that I like by Making Memories. It is the rotrary kind and it has a self sharpening blade. It was $50 at Micheals but I had a 50% off coupon so I got it for $25. I did a search and it got good reviews. I have not tried it out yet but I am excited. I ordered some samples from paperandmore.com. They have great prices and the mailed my samples out the same day I ordered them (yesterday). So hopefully in a couple of weeks I will have a rough draft of my invitaions. Again thanks

I cut A LOT of paper, and have purchased and returned several cutters. I have to say, that not many beat a good old-fashioned cork-backed metal ruler and a #10 or #11 Exacto knife (one with the good cushioning on the handle). The blades are (comparatively) cheap, they're easy to store, and, I think, more accurate, less slipping than any cutter.

Or, if you'll have a large stack, you can take it to either a printer or a Kinko's that you trust, they will charge from $1.50 to $3.00 per cut that will slice through the whole stack.
