Hello everyone,
My name is Rachel and I am new to this forum. :D

My fiance and I are eloping to San Juan, Puerto Rico next month. We're having a small ceremony on the beach outside of our resort. His mother, brother and our two daughters are going to be the only people attending. We decided to do this because we have (him mostly LOL) sooo many friends and relatives that it would cost us a fortune to have a traditional wedding, then we wouldn't have any money left to have a honeymoon. So we're killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to say. We are, however having a cookout style reception after we come home for all those family & friends.

With that said I'm a bit stressed about things as it is getting closer. I have had my dress since mid-March, I went to Sears and bought a regular dress. It is really pretty, and is basically this dress but a different color.

It is a bit more yellowish then this one (the color on the tag says "butter"), and it has a sheer jacket that can be worn over it. I got a nice pair of sandals to go with it and thats it. I told the wedding planner in PR that we don't need flowers, music etc. Then the other day we started looking for something for my fiance to wear. I figured he could wear a short sleeve dress shirt, tie and nice pair of slacks. We went and he picked out this suit. It looks a lot like this one, but is a different brand (also couldn't find it on the website)

He has a ivory colored shirt underneath and a maroon patterned tie. Now I feel like I am going to be underdressed. My fiance NEVER dresses up so he seems really fancy in this suit and I just have a "Sears Dress". He says I am making a mountain out of a molehill, and that I will look absolutely beautiful, but that's how I feel. Am I overreacting??

Some advice please!!

Ps- He hasn't seen my dress...I don't want bad luck!!

i dont think there is anything wrong with the way you are dressed in comparision to him.

first of all, he is wearing A SUIT, and in comparision with a suit, a date can wear anything cocktail length or longer. if he was wearing a tux i might say rethink it. However, this seems to match and compliment each other perfectly.

Thank you everyone...that's what all my friends/family has said also and I only paid $80 on sale for it!! Can you believe Sears was the only store in the mall that had formal + sized dresses that aren't "granny" looking? I even checked Lane Bryant...only bright colored sundresses!!

Should I get a vail? and if so what color? I'm gonna try to get an actual pic of my dress FH is working nights anyhow so I can always try it on AGAIN (LOL) and have my DD 11 Y/O take a pic. I'm getting my first haircoloring done 2nite, and the highlights are getting done the weekend before my wedding. Should I wear my hair up or down? Soooo many things to decide now I know why brides go CRAZY! LOL

Your dress is beautiful! It's great you found such a great deal, too!

I'm not sure about the veil, since finding a color that isn't white is hard (would ivory or champagne colors work with this, ladies?). I think flowers in the hair may look pretty with it and be easier to match! Is your hair long or short?

I think that having a veil would be nice. you can get one on ebay if you want. it doesnt have to be something long and glamorous, but something that feels nice to you..

I think they will be great together! Do you WANT to wear a veil? I think you can do whatever you want...you are the bride :)

Don't forget to come back after and bring pics :)!!!!

I just updated my avatar with an actual picture...
Well I went to David's Bridal last night to look at veils and the white looked "too white" the champagne looked "too brown" and the ivory also looked "too white". I didn't have my dress with me, so I am going to go back with it. She said it was OK that I didn't buy it there. They are really expensive, so I think I am going to find one I like there, and then find a similar one online, I found a site that has them pretty affordable. wedding-veil dot com. I was also thinking of getting a tiara instead.
I spoke to my hairdresser (also FMIL) about my hair style that day and what I am going to do is have it parted in the front like I normally do, but kinda flattened down, then pulled up with bobby pins. She said its an "easy updo". I was thinking something like this:http://www.wedding-veil.com/store/images/P/2803med.jpg

http://www.wedding-veil.com/store/images/P/2803med.jpg or this one without a veilhttp://www.wedding-veil.com/store/images/P/5138lrg.jpg http://www.wedding-veil.com/store/images/P/5138lrg.jpg

Hi,

No. (And I'm really blunt lol) It looks like a wedding dress to me! You know, with the lace applique? And the length. It totally matches his outfit in fanciness and what you can do is wear jewlery to fancy it up if it will make you feel better and also a veil or some kind of head piece or hair piece.

Oh I see the one you like, yes that will make it fancy too. I'm hearing more and more about brides buying veil kits at craft stores and making their veils for much less $$.

I love the tiara idea! Any gold tiara like the one you posted would look fabulous with your dress!
