I know the basic invitation design I would like. Vertical Folio pocket.
My question is how do I make this pocket. I was thinking that I woud need to get the paper and fold it and use glue runner to make the pocket. I was thinking I would need 11 x 17 paper? I just needed your help. Is the correct process? Any other suggestions on the techique. What about the size of the paper? How deep should the pocket be?
I would like the folder to be 5 1/4 x 7 1/4. The invite to be 5 x 7. The other cards (rsvp, direcions etc) to be 4.5 in width or whatever works. Attached is the pics of the design I would like.
Thanks

I found this tutorial awhile back when I was thinking of making my own pocketfolds.

Then I got lazy and decided to just buy the pocketfolds and DIY the rest, lol. So I haven't actually used the tutorial, but it seems simple enough.

I got them from Paper Presentation (http://www.paperpresentation.com). They were one of the few places I found that had 11x17 black linen cardstock, and after looking through their site, found that they sold the pocketfolds themselves. I got the black linen ones and they are really good quality.

I just saw your post. I am making Vertigo pocketfold invitations and saving hundreds of dollars. Here is the site that I found to help me make my invitations. Below the link is a picture of my DIY invitations.

You can also get 11x17 cardstock paper from Office Max. Of course they only have white, but if you're going to use white and then some other colors in it that would be great. The price is .25 cents per sheet, but if you find a teacher who has an Office Max card you can get it for .15 cents!
I also took 12x12 gold scrapbook paper, cut it to be 6x6 and folded the sides to make it into a pocket..then double sided taped one part of the cardstock.
They look really nice when everything is completed and everything.
But just some ideas.

I love your invites. It looks very nicely done. How much would you say you would have in 50 invitations? I'm debating do I do Walmart invite or send them off to printer or DIY project. I like this idea of the pocket because you can put so much info into it.

I would say that each invitiation would cost about $1.05 (that does not count the ink, postage or envelopes. I am getting everything at Michael's and if you go on a sale weekend you could probably get things cheaper.

I think this is great! How do you get the pocket though? I looked at the site you gave to look at, but I didn't see how to do the pocket :(

The bottom of the vertical piece you cut from the poster board has an upside down V and then you fold it up. I used double sided tape but that does stick every well...so I plan on trying rubber cement or hot glue or something like that.

What about scrapbooking tape tabs? They are pretty secure... mmmm will have to experiment. I was thinking maybe you had the paper go through the bottom part to connect it, then glue it from behind. Let me know how that comes out. :)

To hold the pocket together. Use the double sided tape and put it on both sides of the paper. If that makes sense. It holds really well! And it's not messy. :)
