View Full Version : Save the Date
I know that Save the Date cards are very popular. I was wondering what everyone did, and I wanted to share my idea.
Since we needed to send the save the date cards out around Christmas we did Christmas cards. We took a photo of us to Wal-Mart, wrote out a statement like wishing you the best holiday season, hope you can join us June 17, 2005. It only cost like 40 dollars for a hundred of them.
People started getting them yesterday and they have been a hit.

That's a wonderful idea - I'll have to pass that on to some of my clients! Thanks for sharing!!

The good thing about save the date cards is they can be less formal so you can have more fun. This can be a way to show off the personality of you as a couple. I have seen some really creative things done with paper art (think scrap booking and origami.) Also magnets, calendars, pens, or other objects can be fun. Just keep a touch of class and a touch of fun.

I think we're going to go with the ones that have the little ribbon tied through the card, and they say "We're tying the knot!" Will probably just buy card stock and make them ourselves.

Outstanding idea and I've noticed more and more couples are using these. I'm even going to include this wonderful tip in our latest version of "How To Avoid Wedding Disasters'. Thank you. Tom

I do a LOT with scrapbooking and I decided to make our engagement announcements. It's been a lot of fun but I suggest if you're going to make anything either invest in a paper cutter or hit a Kinko's and use theirs. It cuts back on time---sorry, bad pun. Also, there's all sorts of free font websites out there...just google it (gosh, I sound like an advertiser for google) and you can find something really nice. I'm thinking about doing my own announcements and invitations, but if I don't get started on them soon, I'm going to order them.

My FH and I are using cd's. We are going to burn cds with some songs we plan on using at the wedding along with one or two of out other favorites to give it a nice ecclectic mix so everyone can enjoy it. Then we are getting the nicer plastic cases. His sister is a graphic designer so she is going to design a nice cover with our picture and save the date message on it. Then we are sending them out in September so that people can start to enjoy our wedding a little earlier.

I really like that idea. We are just now starting to look at these, and there's so much out there, we haven't been able to decide what we want. Thanks for some great ideas!

STD magnets are definitely affordable, and the perfect remembrance for family historians. Mine has a pic of the two of us, a mini-calendar, and our names, with a request to save the date (3 1/2 x 4 size) Made them myself, cost was approx 30 cents each including the ink. :)
