My fiance and I decided to add a kitten to our household. We also have a rabbit :bunny: together and she's a handful... she always escape from the kitchen, and runs everywhere and she's loud so we can always hear her... heeh... Well, we decide we want a kitten- preferably male and preferably black. We are just waiting for our landlady to approve or reject our request for a pet. I'm crossing my fingers... eeek!

Our cat just had kittens and most of them are dark in color if not completely black. wish we were closer then I could give one away to a good home, with you!
As of now we're just counting down to six - eight weeks to find homes for them!

Yay for kittens!!! We're still trying to name ours. We suck at the naming game, lol.

Oooh, I love kittens. We actually took Jasmin (the furball in my icon) in from the street when she was 5 weeks old, and she is the most amazing spoiled 3 year old now. Interestingly, the best 2 cats I've ever had, both times it was a cat I brough home from finding them on the street.
Good luck, hope the landlord approves. And don't forget to kitten-proof the house.

Did you put up a poll on here? someone did that earlier ( I think FFC?) and I think that helped them? At least makes for a interesting thread:)
I love Kitties too!:kitty:

It wasn't a poll, but I did put a list of names on here. We're still having trouble agreeing. If anyone hasn't checked my name thread, here's a link! Give us some advice! lol:

I'm so sad... I wrote my landlady an email on Wednesday for permission to get a cat and she hasn't responded yet. :( It's not looking good for me because there was a no pet policy on the lease and she made an exception for the rabbit- but I thought I could ask and maybe get it- because my neighbor in the same building has an akiba dog... :(

She finally wrote me back saying that I would need to upfront a $300 pet deposit- which I think we are going to do... so maybe at the end of this month- I'll get a kitty or a puppy... now I'm indecisive about what. hehe
Ok I'm happy now...

Check Petfinder.com (http://forums.onewed.com/www.petfinder.com). That's how we found our puppy, Kona. It's just a comprehensive list of shelters throughout the US, so you can search the shelters nearest you. It's really cool. And I'm a HUGE advocate for animal adoption over buying from breeders (not that it's as much of an issue for kittens, but for the puppy), so I always try and spread the word about this site because it really is a great resource for people who are searching for a new pet. :puppy:

^Yes I looked at shelters... I was a wee bit disappointed when I realize that adoption prices for a kitten is more expensive than the pet store. It's $140 to adopt and it's $90 at a pet store with all its shots. We just want to give a kitten a home :(.

Wow, $140 to adopt?! That's crazy! I think it depends on the shelter though. Our local shelter charges $90 for cats, and I think $120 (or something close to that) for dogs. Kona was $150, but she was through a shelter in the next county over and had already been spayed and was older, so she had gotten more shots.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll find something! If you're looking for a kitten, keep checking the papers. I couldn't find any free puppies, but it seems like there are always free kittens in there. That's where we got our last one.

Shelter and rescue prices often include shots, spay/neuter, tests, and any treatment the animal has had to undergo. There are four sets of shots for puppies and kittens, and I know around here, they are around $70 each and about $75-100 to spay/neuter. I wonder how many sets of shots the shelter includes.
Good luck!

Here is my kitten. He was $89 and he had his first set of shots done. Unfortunately, my fiance and I got him from a pet shop. Last night, we went in to look at the animals (they have cool animals, like an alligator, gigantic tortoises, and a room full of huge parrots and other birds) and we came out with a kitten.
He pretty much stinks but he spent last night on the bed with us. ^_^
And he's not named yet... so that's a task for us. He's kinda evil looking lol.

oh he''s so pretty! he kinda looks like a lion with all that fur around his neck & chest.
Are you a fan of Chronicles of Narnia? You could name him Aslan like the lion from the movie?
How old is he? He looks a little bigger than a baby kittie, but hey "bonus" (he's already litter box trained?)!

^hey thanks.
My fh is a fan of the chronicles of narnia so I'm sure he would like that. He is still small but not too small... I'm not sure how many months he is. The pet shop owner didn't know anything. He didn't even know if the kittens were male or female lol. He is already litter box trained.

thats a shame when people that work with the animals dont want to get even enough involved to know whether they are a male of female, but I guess if they dont get close they wont feel bad when someone buys them. I think I would be more attached though wanting to know who was what(male/female) how old they were, breeds, etc:) Maybe thats just me?

The shop owner was very rough with the kittens, I cringed when I saw how he handled them. Like he stuffed the kitten into a box with the flaps closed. He just pushed the kitten in...
Yikes!
My bf wants to name the Kitty Dexter after the killer in the show Dexter lol. We love that show. I was thinking of Bosco. And we're not agreeing so the kitty will just have to get use to 2 names lol.

I like Bosco. Cute!!! Dexter is cute too, but Bosco is more original and has a nice ring to it.

DB...? Dave and Buster's lol.
The kitty is so attention needy- I can't go on the internet at home because it will attack my laptop.. lol.
I've been calling it Bosco and he's been calling it Dexter so I guess he has to get used to both.
There was a stray in my childhood. SHe came to us a lot for shelter and food and we would let her come and go as she pleased. My mother was convinced she was a male and so we were too. We named the cat Mickey after the mouse and one afternoon, the cat gave birth to a litter of kitties in our cabinets. We were shocked. lol

We're having the same problem with our kitten. We named him Ramses, but my Mom still insists on calling him Izzy (she thought he was a girl and named him Isolde, Izzy for short). I'm like 'Mom! Unless you're keeping the kitten, you will call him Ramses!'
