Hi all, I'm currently helping a friend with her wedding; this is my latest DIY. The bride absolutely loves hydrangeas, doesn't care for roses. The pics below are the bouquets that are close to being done.
MOH has the bouquet w/yellow in it - her dress is yellow. BM's have a dress that is more like the darker hydrangeas. Lighter color hydrangeas are actually pale blue. When Bridal Bouquet is done it will have mostly the darker hydrangeas, with a few live white oriental lillies and tiny accent flowers(working on that).
What do you think so far? My plan is to incorporate some live white alstromeria (or other live flower) in the MOH/BM to add a dose of "real" to it, since the hydrangeas are fake (the darker ones BTW were in a pot in WalMart).
Also, any thoughts on the dried sprigs of light yellow berries? I think they'll look better once they 'hang' better; I know it's something I have to work on or may even lose.
Anyway, all thoughts appreciated!

Oh, I love hydrangeas! I think the bouquets look good, however I don't care for the pieces of berries sticking out. They don't look like the belong, or maybe they're just sticking out too far.

I agree with StarCoveter. The bouquets are very pretty, but I don't like the berries. If you want to use them, I would recommend cutting them into smaller pieces and wire & tape them into smaller clumps using wood and wire picks and spread them out in the bouquet as filler.

I am not feeling the berries either. If you think it needs something maybe try bear or lilly grass along the edges. I will try to find a picture.

Like this:

but now that I look at it - it might not work. Either way I think the bouquets look beautiful with just the hydrangeas.

Thanks guys! I was kind of 'eh' on the berry clusters too, but wasn't sure if it was just me. And wouldn't you know it, they took the most prep work!
Maybe I can incorporate them into bouts/corsages? Maybe a little sprig or two to go with the live flowers???
Weblady - thankfully my friend is very flexible about the MOH/BM bouquets - as long as I get those hydrangeas in there I'm good w/her :puppy:

So pretty! I think your friend will be very happy with what you have done. She is so lucky to have a nice friend to do this for her. :)

I love the way the bouquets look! I don't care for roses either so my bouquet will not include them. I am not a fan of the berries sticking out, but I think that if you want to include them in the bouquet, i would push them in some more. Not let them hang, but be placed inside the bouquet, almost like another flower.

I agree that the berries don't seem to fit in. I love the look of just the hydrangeas, my MOH/BM's bouquets look a little similar to yours but they are all white. I too am not a big rose fan so the bulk of my bouquet is hydrangeas. I'll try to get pics posted later today. :flower:

Thanks, guys, for your input! I do think I'll leave the berries out...but I might try cutting them down smaller and using them as filler first just to see. If so, I'll post another pic
I recently found out that the giant white lilies (the ones in the pic that the bride wanted) are apparently not in season anymore. I'm getting live flowers at Costco, and they said they could do Stargazers (white w/pink centers). There's also the giant yellow lily that's in bloom right now. The bride says either one is acceptable, but I know she was really loving those solid whites :(

Would she be willing to just have hydrangeas too? The lily, to me, kinda looks like the berries, all funky and out of place! HA HA :)

Well, she liked the big lily as an accent flower...if you look on page 1 of this thread I posted a pic of her fav bouquet, as taken from a bridal magazine. Hydrangeas are the primary, but there are about 3 lilies that are in it.
As an update, I went to Costco yesterday to see what they had, then called their contact person and ordered the yellow lilies, in addition to some white alstroemeria and yellow alstroemeria. Going to use the alstro in BM/MOH bouquets, as well as corsages and bouts.
