Wow!!! What a difference this simple thing can make and so easy to do. The envelopes are a standard size. I used 12x12 scrapbook paper (on sale for $0.31), cut to 8x4, folded the long end at 1", and used glue stick to attach. It was so simple and so inexpensive, yet gives the envelope such a better look. This was only a sample, the only thing I'm gonna change is to use a different adhesive (maybe a glue runner).

The paper and adhesive cost was only $.10 per envelope.

GRRR!!! have been trying for 1/2 hour to get a pic attached and can't figure it out. So I'm gonna post and hopefully get the pic added later. Sorry

Do you think it added much weight to your envelope?

Did you put glue on the entire piece of paper you added or just to the 1" piece at the top?

I can't wait to see a picture!

I make all my own cards for special occasions and I like to add scrapbook paper to the back of theoutside of the envelope where it folds down. I know that always makes the envelope look extra special as well.

The added weight is minimal. The scrapbook paper weight was normal. I only added the glue to the top part of the 1" strip (when added it is just below the seal strip of the envelopeand above the crease).

This is an idea of what they look like except mine is better since the scrapbook paper that I used has the design of scattered raspberry colored rose petals. Think this was actually the inspiration piece as well.
