Hey girls, don't know if anyone has stated this yet, but I was just talking to a caterer and she said that going western (bbq chick, bbq ribs, beans, slaw, rolls, green salad) can be very cost effective, and suggested doing a quesadilla station. They can make them to order. I LOVE THAT IDEA!!!!
Just thought I would share that w anyone looking for ideas!!!

I love the idea of the station. We all like them, and since I am trying to keep it low cost, that is a good way to go.
They said it could be about $10-12 a person if I go that route, and that is pretty good.

That is a good price, and you can't go wrong with quesadillas. Everyone loves them

My food is being prepared by my BIL and his mom as a wedding gift to us. It is just going to be a buffet of easy foods. Mostly salads and such with just a couple of hot plates like beans and what not. I am leavign the food up to them since they offered to do this for us.

Yes barbeque is a less expensive route to go and quesadillas are great! We are having fajitas, but they are $13 per person. At the site you have to use their food.

Bar-b-que sounds like a great idea! Just make sure you get extra napkins!
My FMiL hired someone to prepare the food, but we're getting some chicken from this little place near us that makes INCREDIBLE chicken and it's only 40 cents a piece! The only thing we realized was (when we got it for dinner a few weeks ago) that we need more napkins. It's kind of oily and even if you eat with fork and knife, it's going to get messy, especially with the kids. So we have to go get some more napkins. :)
Of course, this won't be an issue if you're using linen napkins, but we're using papernapkins because we can't afford linens and they'd look silly with plastic plates. :)

First of all, you are all getting way better deals on your food than ANYPLACE I found here in the city. Kudos to you all. I am envious.
As for napkins, one can never have too many napkins. It isn't like you can't use them in the future or anything if you buy to many. Sean always grips that I buy too many napkins and plastic cups when we have parites. Hello, we always need napkins and plastic cups saves on dishes and are recylcable! AHHHHH! MEN!
By the way the Western food sounds good. I don't eat a lot of meat but let's face facts, EVERYONE likes a bbq rib. And even though I don't like cheese as long as it is mild nothing beats a quesadilla with chicken and black beans, and sour cream and guac. Now I'm hungry for Mexican.

mmmm...Mexican! I haven't had real Mexican in a LONG time! :)
Anyways, definitely can't have too many napkins...although, pink doesn't really go with anything I have, but oh well! :)
