When do you think is the right time to announce your engagement in the local newspaper.

I always thought about 2 months before. Thats also what some of the ckecklists say too. We arent announcing our engagement, but we are announcing the marriage in the paper.

We announced our engagement a year before and added at the end "wedding to take place summer 2005". But we were just so exited we didn't want to keep it to ourselves! I would say, do what ever makes you feel good!! You decide when you want to and go for it!! It's an exciting time, let others know about it too!! (Just my opinion though)

I've read about 9 months before the wedding is a good time to put it in papers. I'd also like to add a little FYI. I read somewhere that you shouldn't post the exact date of the wedding in the article. There have been reports of people who will see what day it is and then break into your house that day since they know you will not be home.

Wow, that's pretty scary to think about. I wasn't going to put the actual day in our paper but only because I was afraid someone who wasn't invited would show up out of the blue!

I haven't done it yet. I'm not sure if we will or will just announce our marriage. We haven't done our engagement photos yet either.

I have never heard about the breaking into your house thing! That scares me. Well I really want to put it in the paper now. Maybe I should call them and see what their policies are.

I do believe that you can put it in whenever you feel like it really!! If you want to do it now, go for it!! :)

We put our announcment in the paper in Jan, about 8 months before our wedding. I see wedding dates in other annoucments that are 2007 I don't think that it really matter when you put it in...

We started trying to get our announcement into the paper about three months ago. But our picture wasn't good enough, so we had to wait until we got our engagement photos done. Now they can't use our engagement photo via email because it's pixulated. So we have to send in a print, which we are now working on getting. It's been kind of ridiculous actually.

The way I see it, it doesn't really matter when the engagement announcement gets put in the paper (or if it does) because some people are engaged for years and years and I've known of some people who were engaged long enough to get the wedding together (about five weeks is the shortest I've known). So whenever! :)
